I agree with the louder horn, get rid of the pyrotechnics, they may have been cool at a 1978 KISS concert, but have no place in a hockey game. It would be great if the student section would get as loud as WI, but it will not happen because: 1. WI has 40,000+ students 2. WI allows their students to stand 3. WI allows their students to chear without worrying about offending someone 4. In WI beer is cheaper than water and the entire state is loaded about 75% of the time.

I spent two years as a goal judge for the ice sharks and was consulted with several times by the ref's. Not sure how the rules differ in the NCAA, but in the USHL the goal judge is considered an off-ice "official". Meaning I had the same power as the linesman - ref consults with me, but the final decision is his. However the only thing the goal judge could be asked about was if the puck crossed the line, not if it was kicked in or played with a high stick or even if time expired. The goal judge is not responsible for looking at the clock. Like I said not sure if the NCAA rules are the same, but I'd guess the ref could not consult the goal judge in this case.

INCH NCAA INCH is picking BC and MN to get the #1 seeds in the East/West. This is assuming Bemidji and Holy Cross are the bottom seeds (which is a pretty safe assumption). It is a possibility the Gophers will be there, but only if they win the Final Five. If these brackets were to come true (that is big IF I don't give INCH that much credit), we would most likely play MI in MI, a familar theme that often ends in bad results.

Watch it, I may have family at Quinnipiac in a few years. The Loos' will make them a hockey dynasty. Suter's/Granato's=Wisconsin, Broten's=Gophers, Loos'= Quinnipiac? Hey it could happen

http://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl=www...DUTF-8%26sa%3DN Come on people, comparing this to last year? Last years team got off to a hot start, hate to say it but mainly beating up on crap teams. This year we've beat some pretty good teams. This is the first losing sweep of the season, this would make a great turning point. I think Blais will get the team back on track for next weekend. Valentines day, an opposing coach that bears a striking resemblence to a famous porn star, should make for an entertaining weekend of hockey.

For some good news (so long as your not from EGF) Moorhead beat EGF 12-0, Lee looked amazing. Nice to see a defenseman move the puck like he can. It appears that is where the Sioux are lacking. Blais should make Smaby watch him play, he could learn something. EGF was ranked #10 in class A. To destroy a ranked team like that is amazing. Should be fun watching Moorhead and Warroad back to back in the championship games at the Excel in March. That said EGF has got to be the worst "homer" rink I've ever been to. They said the final saves were 21-14. Anybody watching the would tell you it was more like 50-10. EGF does have a very classy team though, they never played dirty, which is what most teams do when they are down like that. Well coached and good discipline.

He's playing tonight. What number is your brother? I'll be sure to heckle him.

This one has to be used. How but putting "Go back to your day job" under the picture.

Not sure if its been discussed elsewhere, I'm too lazy to scroll through all 16 pages in the WI thread; did anyone get a good look at the Sioux's goal that was waved off? From the quick replay the WI announcers looked at, it looked like the puck wasn't even close to being touched w/ a high stick. From the reaction from the players though, it must have been. That said, the Sioux looked like the Wild last night, get a lead and protect it. Genoway, Parise, Fuhrer looked good. Smaby looked absolutely horrible, not just the winning goal, he fead the WI points more than any WI player. Frankly I think this could be good for the Sioux, every team needs a couple of games like this, rather now than in the NCAA's. I just don't see them melting like last year, they are too good. Playing a struggling CC team, and a horrible MSU team should help to get some confidence back.

The Warroad thing is kind of a long running joke in this area, I don't think anybody was bashing Warroad....except the poster from Roseau which gives him a legitimate reason to . My uncle's family moved to Moorhead to further my cousin's hockey career, several of the schools in the cities do the same thing. The discussion on his size has nothing to do with his skill level, more about the type of player he is. Typical the smaller guys are the finesse players and the bigger forwards are the power players. This is an internet message board, no need to take things so serious. Try this

This site MNHSH stats has him w/ 56 points in 19 games. MN high school stats are pretty pointless because the teams have such different schedules. However, I would think Warroad plays a tough schedule. I haven't seen him play, don't know much about him other than he is one of many kids that mysteriously "moves" to Warroad during high school, and by "coincidence" he can play hockey. This site rules, wonder who keeps all of these stats. Here is Moorhead's stats, Moorhead Stats very balanced scoring between the top two lines.

According to INCH INCH States there is 20 D1 hockey players from ND. From the top of my head Cory McLean (Fargo North) is at Notre Dame, two kids from Minot (Grubb and Kres....?) are at Wayne St, Ben McLean (Fargo South) is at Army. I can't think of any football players. Basketball - brothers from Shanley (Jacobson?) are both D1 one at Utah, Koenig (Fargo North) is at Green Bay. I hate basketball and don't really follow football, so I'm not the best source, just adding what I know from the top of my head.

Listening to Wooger is like eating lead paint, it slowly makes you dumber. SSM Stats On a different note looks like Duncan and Chorney are doing well, but look at Toews - 74 points by a 10th grader, he is listed as a forward, but played D when he was at the REA, at list in the game I saw.

Thanks PCM, very good recap as always. Anybody know what the deal w/ Genoway is? No mention of one the leading scorers in the top three lines?? If he's not hurt, going from line 1 to 4 (or lower) in a span of a few weeks is a little harsh.

He can play on Sat. I believe he wears 19 this year. He usually plays on a line with Becker, and on the PP. He is probably their biggest forward 6-2 190. I still think Moorhead is the best high school team I've seen play, at least since the Bloomington Jefferson teams of the early/mid 90's. Was watching FSN the other day and saw the end of an interview w/ Wooger talking about MN HS hockey. He said Dave Spehar was the best high school player ever in the state. I found myself yelling at the TV, "Phil Housley you moron!"
-
He is a very solid D-man, not one to jump up in the play, but a very good outlet passer. He is the guy that gets a ton of 'second' assists. At 16 most kids are about done growing, upwards anyway. I would expect Lee to put on some weight over the next few years. Are the Sioux going to recommend he plays in the USHL next year? Anybody who wants to see Lee and Moorhead in GF, they play at EGF on Sat. Anybody know the MN high school rules about fighting? I guess my cousin was kicked out of last nights game, he better play on Sat.
-
I was also at the game on Sat. Someone pointed out how #7 skates exactly like BB. You have to see it, she looks exactly like him out there. If she would have ripped off 90mph snapshots I would have thought BB glued on a ponytail and decided to get some extra ice time w/ the women.

Most of the cases addressing the public/private distinction involve malls, however I'm pretty sure there is at least one case that found either Cleveland or Atlanta's (cannot remember for sure) baseball parks where subject to 1st (or 14th) Amendment speech. The case involved anti-logo protestors on their property. Something that could be relevent at the REA. If I have some extra time I'll read that article and try and find the case. Now that I spouted my big mouth off, I'll probably find that case and see it was decided the other way.
-
Boy you sound like a law school professor. Except you are wrong - when a private entity "opens it doors to the public" they are subject to the first amendment. I'm too lazy to find my con law book but I'm sure there is a few Supreme Court cases that can be found.
-
REA could not pass a "no swearing" policy that would be unconstitutional. They can kick anyone out at their discretion for disorderly conduct. For disorderly conduct you have to do more than swear, you have to create a nuisance for those around you, i.e. fighting, threatening people, being drunk to the point your puking or falling on people. Has the president of UND ever been to a hockey game? I wouldn't know him if I saw him.
-
A few drunken fratboys don't make up the "student body". That said I was not at the football games, but if there were racial comments, I would agree that is unacceptable. I suspect the 'racial comments' where actually degrading comments made about the South. I wonder how many complaints the NCAA would receive from these fans had their teams won?

After the goaltending on both sides Caldwell was the best player on the ice Sat. He had to have logged close to 40 min. He was on the ice everytime the money line was out. The real key to Denver's success on Sat. was the fact Dora was out of the lineup. I think teams score 3-4 goals a game just because he pisses them off so much. Note to Denver: if you want to make the NCAA's ship Dora back to the Cech Republic or Slovakia or wherever the hell he crawled out of.

The fan vote may sway coaches that are not familiar with players in other conferences. Moreso it is just a fun poll for the fans. Leaving decisions like this up to the fans is a horrible idea. Look at the NHL All-Star roster, or even worse the NBA - players are being voted for that don't even play.

But the bit about Brandt jumping up and down like he won $200 was hilarious. As was the Don Lucia needing a Queer Eye Makeover. I thought my wife was the only one that got a kick out of his hair. Also the bit about Sioux fans are to conspiracy theories like infectious diseases are to Southeast Asian animals, was pretty funny.
