  1. I'm pretty sure he was just bitching at the refs. Either he's going through puberty or he's on the juice - he was in a couple of fights - and these are his teamates. I agree about Robbie Earl - he will likely make the team. After all "all he does his score goals". Nickerson (Dallas D-man) is a monster 6-4 235 and he can skate. Wheeler scored a goal, but he looked out of place, very sloppy skater. He barely played after about mid second period. Bourque looked good, too bad he isn't a little bigger. Mike Brown (going to MI) looked very good, one of the best players on the ice IMO. O'Sullivan was the best player on the ice, he is a very good player. If there is an NHL this year I could see the Wild giving him a shot.
  2. Just saw Charlie was upped to a category 4 I hope you're not too close to the coast. Damn hurricanes!
  3. I think most people on this board agree that HS hockey talk should be restricted to Tourny time and those teams/players relevant to Sioux hockey i.e. recruits or potential recruits. I thought the thread was ok until a few morons took control of it. I will continue posting on the occasional HS hockey thread, as I've done for the last 6-7 years (I've had various user names and the site has changed administrators).
  4. How about we end this now. I, like the vast majority of the people on this board 100% understand your articles. You reported facts and other peoples opinions this is what reporters do, and most here think you do it well. We appreciate your commitment to Sioux hockey, obviously you do not do what you do for the money. We enjoy reading your articles, recaps and opinions. For those that are not smart enough to distinguish them, screw em. BTW I know this has been asked before but what is the avatar you have now?
  5. I hate going up to people and asking for an autograph, but I think I'll have to suck it up for Bourque. I'm not big on autographs but anytime I can get someone like his I go for it. My hockey collection includes Gordie Howe, Paul Coffey, Brett Hull, and the Hanson Brothers . I don't like that Earl kid, the way he whined about not making the team last year was lame. He has a big ego, you can tell he's from CA. Wheeler is a work in progress. Cory skated with him at the Gopher camp and wasn't too impressed. He was coming off a pulled muscle (I can't remember which) so he wasn't 100%. I agree the USHL would probably be good for him. On a side note, Vandeveldie and Lee are both coming back to Moorhead. Moorhead also has 3 players transferring in this year, I'll post their names when I know 100% who they are - maybe skateshatrick already knows? I know one is from International Falls. Are they selling refreshments at these games? Friday should be a good time.
  6. True, but I've seen those guys play before. I've never seen Bourque, the only knock I've heard about him is his size. He is supposed to be a very complete player. Plus if he makes the team maybe Ray will hang out in GF and I can get an autograph at the end of the year.
  7. Anybody going to the games tonight? I'm planning on going on Fri, I want to see the USA players go against each other. I'm most interested in seeing Bourque play, the numbers he put up at the Midget tourny were incredible - 22 points in 6 games (Duncan had 5 in 6 games). Hockey in August - I love it.
  8. Markusen ended up captaining Michigan State, he was easily one of the best D-men to play HS hockey in ND. ND has actually been good at awarding the "best" player with the award. From 96 on every player that won the award, except for Askew has, will, or should (McIntyre & Moreland) play D1 hockey. IMO Askew could easily have played D1 hockey if he wanted to. As far as Western players, most that are good enough to win the award don't stay around until they graduate. If Massen or Fylling had stayed around they likely would have won the award, but leaving was obviously the best choice for them. Didn't Peluso from Bismarck win the award? He may have been up the same year as Phillion. If not I'm sure he won it, I believe he holds the all-time scoring record for ND hockey. Grubb is playing for Wayne state, didn't you see him at the x-mas tourny? He scored a very nice breakaway goal against the Sioux. He is a good player, but Markusen is a step above him IMO.
  9. Maybe a new forum for non-Sioux related hockey would be usefull. Either that or a "playland" type forum for The-Zeitz and the other junior high tools that have recently infested this fine site. Make the Sioux forums for those 18+ (maybe put some xxx pics up so their parents/school computers will block them from this site). Just some ideas.
  10. A group of parents decided the GF Park district was not good enough for their kids. At least at the PW level they had a AAA team called the Red Army Faction. Here is the results from the PW A league last year. GF could only get together one A team and I would say they had a poor season. You would think the parents could get over their ego's and realize this is not the way to go. GRAFTON 10 0 0 20 DEVILS LAKE 8 2 0 16 MINOT 6 4 0 12 WILLISTON 4 6 0 8 HAZEN/BEULAH 2 8 0 4 GRAND FORKS SUGARKINGS 0 10 0 0
  11. I'm gone for a week and the board has been infested by trolls. Sorry bud, but claiming you're one of the best coaches in the state, your winning big comment and saying skates has no class = 0 credibility for you. I coached youth hockey for 5 years in Fargo and found the vast majority of kids to be "good" kids. As they got older, the Raider kids and parents became unbearable. The coaching system at North is terrible, there is no discipline, the players run the show. It has been that way since the days of Arf. The Raiders organization is run by overzealous parents that fight for board positions so Johnny can be on the A team. Unfortunately the Flyers and Patriots have gone through similar problems. Why do you think there are so many new teams in the area? IMO the only way youth hockey will get better in Fargo is if the different organizations work together and set up a program similar to Moorhead. Or even what GF used to be like (look what the Red Army team did to GF hockey).
  12. I agree. But the 70's porn star mustache has to go. WTF does only Highway Patrol officers can get away with those.
  13. Sens Home They are pretty up to date on their website, and have no mention of signing Bochenski, in fact they signed a RW yesterday. I'm not saying it hasn't happened, just that it's not official. That is pretty lame if this holds true that Lincoln releases the press release before UND. I don't know why it bother me, it just does. That and BB's whole, I'm gone if I get what I want, if not I'll go back to UND, I'll decide in mid-August. I know most people on here disagree, but his attitude lacks some class IMHO.
  14. I've heard the same - that he is trying out anyway. I hadn't heard if he made the team. He has the talent, but he is one of the dumbest hockey players I've seen play. I'm not saying he is a dumb kid, I don't know him personally. He has a bad temper on the ice and makes way too many mistakes for someone with his talent. Hopefully the Bobcats have a disciplined system and he can improve his game. Anything would be better for him than to stay at North and deteriorate like so many players under Smith.
  15. Found this site Sens Chat Looks like the Sens fans think BB may get a shot at playing for the club this season, if there is a season.
  16. It is a little more than 2 months before the first game. The season starts much earlier. I agree the coaches are likely better informed than the fans, but I still players leaving this late. For this year it's not a big deal because of the depth at forward. This just gives someone else a chance to step up and fill the void, although I don't think we'll ever see another player with BB's shot. Like I said before if the Sens are really offering him $ now and they were not last spring, it is probably a good decision. I just don't see the Sens throwing much his way. Maybe they are signing him quick so they can trade him to the Bluejackets.
  17. I'm not against any players leaving early, but if BB does leave, the way he did it leaves his team in a tough situation. I highly doubt the Sens are pushing him to sign, although I can see him wanting to get what he can before the lockout. I can see the other side, but if you're going to leave the classy thing to do is give your team some warning so they can plan accordingly. I still wish BB the best and have a ton of respect for him. I just don't like players that decide to leave a month before the season starts.
  18. I agree. There is leaving the team the way ZP did - giving plenty of notice allowing the coaches to adjust as needed; and this way - ditching the team at the last minute. Obviously I don't know the entire situation, but I cannot see how this makes any sense. Even if there is an NHL next season Bochenski is not going to crack the Sens lineup. I can't imagine they are going to offer him a big signing bonus, he isn't closes to their top recruit. I wish him the best in whatever he does, but going out this way is not very classy IMO.
  19. Hands down Mariucci is the best rink to visit, they are the only one that has a Famous Dave's on site.

    PCM on USCHO

Very good article, I especially like this I have to give props to quoting an intellectual named dumbass.
  21. Jive Talkin Ok, Dalbey has about as much chance of being named Mr. Hockey as Whap/Breck does of making it to state. That's not a knock against him, he is a good player, but not one of the best in the state. I don't know who Skateshattrick is, but he has proven to be very knowledgeable about high school hockey in the area. So yes, he knows what he's talking about. Having seen Wilson's South teams for many years, he has always used the dump and chase. Anybody with any hockey knowledge could easily see that. He is an old school Canadian that coaches an old school Canadian system. I'm not saying that there is anything wrong with that, but that is the way he coaches. Weisgarber is very strong in the corners, and aggressive on the forecheck, I don't know how much he weighs, but I'm inclined to believe he is much bigger than 130lbs. I hope my jive talkin link works.

    select 16's

Umm he is one of only a handfull of ND players to make the National team in the last 10 years. The Dakota team is the at-large team, although most players are from Nodak*. It is cool USA Hockey decided to make this team a few years ago, it was pretty rare to get Nodak kids on to the Minnkota teams. Nice to see 3 SSM kids on the roster, that D-man from FF is a monster, he would be a nice recruit if he improves his game. Okposo is likely going MJ's or the Goofers. I haven't heard anything about Ruegsegger - he did lead the select tourny in scoring. * Just looked at the roster, only 7 of the 20 players are from ND. Lamoureax had 5 points, Weisgarber and a kid from Jamestown I've never heard of - Zach Welding both had 4 points. Here is the complete roster: No. Name Ht. (cm) Wt. 23. I assume you mean Marc Harrie? South didn't lose him, he played for Shanley as a sophomore last season. He's a fun kid to watch, I coached against him in youth hockey, very quick player that gives 100%. He was one the best players on Shanley last year, but he probably wouldn't have had much of an impact on a very deep South team, he probably would have played JV, especially with Wilson as coach - small talented players don't fit his style. Which is his loss IMHO.
  24. Ok, I'll end the speculation. After much thought I've decided to apply for the Assistant coach position, even after the way I was snubbed for the head job. I decided to post here before the Herald breaks the story.
