  1. What are we doing here? Why do they just keep doing the same thing over and over? Why is Max Kepler still employed? Emilio Pagan? We keep trotting Willi Castro out like he is something, he’s not.

I’m done with this front office. When’s the last time they’ve came away from a trade laughing? I can think of two trades within the last year where the other franchise is laughing hysterically. There was a glaring hole all offseason with the bullpen but we decided to do nothing.

I just don’t know what to do anymore. This team very well could still win the division because of how awful it is but not sure that’s really something to get excited about. Going to the game Thursday…. Can’t wait.

Your guess is as good as mine.  It is the NCAA after all.

Are grad transfers under different circumstances? Connor Vanover for example is transferring to a 4th school and I think it’s assumed he will be eligible next year but maybe he’s a grad transfer?

I suspect they won’t fill the last spot.  It’s pretty late to recruit a legitimate player and I can’t believe there are to many left still looking for a home.  I think they ride the season with 15 or 14 if Tyree isn’t eligible.

Probably right, unless they find someone like Elijah Brooks. He committed 6/13/22.

This might be an interesting guy to bring in. From his post grad year at Montverde appears to be a really solid shooter. The list of schools he is hearing from is really interesting with no D1 schools. Couldn’t find much film on him so maybe there is a reason he doesn’t have D1 interest, would be cool to see a national champion on the roster though

Other than Sioux Falls and CSP, those all sound like made up names.

Good news is things can change quick, but I'm starting to get a little worried about key transfers for the 2023 season. Exiting Spring ball, felt really good about this team, but also realizing they needed from the portal 1 RB, 1OLB, 1 Safety. So far, 0-2 on RB offers and to my knowledge have not offered an OLB or Safety. Thoughts? Clearly, they are trying to get a RB, but what about the other positions?

Offer out to a JUCO corner. He holds offers from WIU and Houston Christian (Baptist). Older brother currently is on the Packers.

    If only …

Get on it, Coach Freund and Adidas.

Would people be interested in adding Hawk wings to the helmets like these? May be forcing it a bit? Or a bit corny? Could turn out cool though.

2023-24 should be the most exciting year of UND MBB in at least 4 years.

Pretty low bar to clear. Even Marlon’s senior year making the SL championship, this team should still be more exciting than that, imo.

This was the case with a young Dan Hendrickson. Just one example off the top of my head but it’s doesn’t not happen.

I could be mistaken but didn’t it take forever for Will Ratelle to really get his opportunity too?

I’m not sure the best thread to put this in so I’m just going to put it here…. There’s two high schoolers in Fargo that this coaching staff needs to be all over this year and next. Do whatever it takes to convince Mason Klabo (2025) and Jeremiah Sem (2024) to come north.

I’m a bit surprised Sem hasn’t drawn more interest after the state championship run (I know it’s just North Dakota but it was still impressive) and then some of the monster dunks he’s had lately.

Welp, ask and you shall receive. UND offers Sem.

Didn’t Klabo commit to the Bison already?  He may get some interest from bigger programs.

No. He’s received an offer from UND, NDSU and UNI but he isn’t committed. Yeah I think he likely will receiver interest/offers from bigger programs but do what you can.

Was he on anyone’s radar or a surprise

It wasn’t surprise. He committed a week ago or so. One spot to fill. If Tyree is eligible, I would prioritize a shooter as people have mentioned many times. If you can’t find a shooter, go find a talented under the radar freshman that’s still available late in the game like Elijah Brooks was. Easier said than done, sure.

The Summit conference to me is looking wide open on the men's side of basketball for the coming year. NDSU looks to be the leader coming into conference this coming year but with loss of Nelson probably for the coming season are they not set to dominate Summit conference for next year. What they have is most coming back and proven coach gets his team ready by end of the season. SDSU is nearly tie with NDSU but i believe the loss of several players and they looking to freshman or new talent to fill in for coming year puts them behind a little for coming year. I believe there coaching staff are going to be challenged more this year because this first in many years they do not have proven depth and questions at several positions, but their guard play will be real strength. ORU has lost bunch of talent and will have new coaching not recipe for success. KC is unknown and could get better quick with the portal and experienced coach. Omaha could become one of the leaders we won't know until were in the season. Denver is again in transition I don't expect them to be contender next year. South Dakota is going through whole rebuild this coming year and their coach is still new because of last year's accident. WIU new coach and another rebuild there. St. Thomas will be equal or better even with loss of their star player they are building but can't play postseason basketball. UND looks like to finally starting to put the pieces together and if talent they have put together live up to their potential, they could be challenging for the top of the conference, but still very young team so there will be growing pains. Should be exciting year for UND Basketball.

I think NDSU will be there because Richman has shown year in and year out he will have his squad competing for the SLT championship but if Nelson doesn’t return I would put SDSU as the favorite. As you mention though, the league is certainly more wide open than it has been in the past.
