starters? depth chart?
I’m just talking QB. Idk about everything else. Simply a prediction. Would line up well with a week out timeline.

My prediction is that we hear something post the 1883 practice on Saturday. Either an announcement that day or on Sunday. No sooner.
-
So to talk about something besides the QB battle, who are some players that we think will breakout this year? By that I mean players that were on the roster last year.
Which transfers will make the biggest impact?

I get being frustrated but in what world would it make sense for it to be UND? We haven’t done anything in the D1 Era and I don’t know if we really have the fan base to travel for that in football right now.

I think people are giving South Dakota too much credit, see how this year plays out
I have been thinking this too. They do have the QB and RB though.

He got a chance last fall. He is getting a chance this fall.
Does anyone think the coaches are hoping he fails so they can keep Simon out there??
I guess when I say give him a shot I don’t mean just hand it to him. If Simon is our best option, move forward with him. Everyone is in agreement that it was a colossal failure not giving Jerry some more run last year.

there is should and there is want...just like the poll...
I want Jerry to get his shot...reminds me a lot of Kevin Klancher....and the should be....anyone but Simon.
I want Jerry to get his shot too. We have had too many QBs we all get so excited about come in here and then just either suck or never even get the opportunity to prove themselves. Mollberg, Palandech, Feeney just to name a few. Could Jerry be next?

Very random offseason thought, where do John Santiago and Brady Oliveira rank among the all-time great UND running backs? Both are in the top 10 in career rushing yards and touchdowns. In my time following UND football, the only RB I’d put ahead of them is Ryan Chappell, man, what could have been. Otis had some flashes (on the field), and I’ve always loved Ziebarth’s game, but I don’t think he’s gotten the workload he deserves, maybe in part due to durability. Like I said… just a random topic to chew on while we wait for the season to start!

Welcome to recruiting high level kids. This is a good thing. We need to learn to keep guys with tons of offers.
I mean I love getting kids with tons of offers but I don’t love seeing my kids that are “committed” still touting new offers. I get it though, it’s the way it is.

Don’t love seeing this.

I would think the coaches have an idea who the starter will be
Which leads me to think JTJ would be the betting favorite. Schmidt intentionally targeted him.

If there is not a standout by end of the week, my guess Javance or Jerry starter and Simon backup. My logic is if they are all about the same, go with the one that will be back next year.
I would say 99% chance it’s JTJ or Jerry. Simon will get some plays but one of those two will be the starter.

I don't think that is accurate for NIL $$. players do get stipends for cost of living and food, as well as the alstead money, which does add up, but players have been getting that for years (before NIL), and it's similar for all D1s. I'm talking about straight up NIL funds.
Me too.

I’ve heard there’s multiple players making north of that this upcoming season.

This is interesting - and similar to what I am hearing for St Thomas.
Total NIL $ for the UND squad is less than $10K
Not true.

You might be right - but they did get one of our guys (Deng Mayor) that had several starts for us last year, and was in the main rotation. I believe the rumor was he was given $30K. He may sit the bench, who knows. UND will replace that player in the rotation with either a red-shirt with no playing experience, a true freshman, or a D2 transfer - either way no D1 experience.
Deng got $30k? Lmao

Doubtful.
Everyone just wants to blame everything on NIL if their team sucks.
I mean I wouldn’t be surprised if we are lower in comparison but yeah I don’t think that can be our crutch. We should just drop down to D2 or heck even D3 if we shouldn’t be expected to compete because we don’t have the NIL.

I know some of you are Tom Miller haters and thought he pushed the Romfo agenda last fall but so far in his camp updates seems like either JTJ or Kaminski are leading the race. Now it’s been 4 days, plenty of time.

Just curious - given we don't have the NIL of other schools, what would a successful season look like?
Are we that far behind NIL for our like schools? The Summit League schools?

Do we pretty much know the starting 5 OL for game 1?
any youngsters pushing to start game1?
Thaden - Becher - Buxa - Olson - Anderson
This is my guess. I guess not sure if it makes more sense to slide Anderson to guard and keep Becher at tackle. I’m no OL guru.

Was there actually practice today or were they just reporting and tomorrow is first practice?

6?! Dang. Who are you thinking? Seems like Grant Noland may be a lock. Chuck Langama right there too. Beyond that, Tylutki, Thielges, Thornton? Those seem to be some I recall hearing Wilkerson talk about. Pierre Allen and Gabe Anderson maybe too? Maybe I’m missing some idk.
