With as much talk as there has been about us having the #1 receiving core in the country, I just assumed that we did and didn't actually know. I don't really think that we can compare to what App State has. Don't get me wrong we have a very talented group of receivers but theirs is great. I guess I hope our guys can change my mind on this.
This tweet from Tom Miller answers a lot: @tommillergf: UND FB notes from today: Bartels will start at QB vs. Valpo, McGill will redshirt and Kuksa-Iverson-Meindel won't redshirt
When players have their redshirts pulled its kind of bittersweet for me. On the one hand, I want to see every player play right away, but on the other I realize that the players best year will most likely be their 5th year.
After watching the new Opening Drive, I wonder if Aeron Carr is getting his shirt pulled. He mentioned that he has been playing with the 1s and 2s lately.
Sounds like true freshman QB Sam Riddle is leaving the team, from what I undstood from twitter. I always had a bad feeling he wasn't going to stay here. The other freshman are wishing him luck and hoping he keeps in touch. I wish him all the best and am sure he will do great at that Linfield (assuming that's where he goes).
If Mollberg isn't the starter I will disappointed if that means he could leave the program. I have never seen him play but with the hype that surrounded him when he came here it would just be such a let down.
What are some of your bold predictions for the upcoming season? I have a couple.
Patrick Sharp and Aeron Carr will both play this season.
Besides the first game, Joe Mollberg is the only QB to attempt a pass this season (not that bold)
For offense I will go with Sparks and Golladay. I think most people fully expect Golladay to break out though anyways.
For defense I am going to go with Will Ratelle and Javen Butler.
Any predictions on what shirts will/could be pulled? I think the obvious guesses are Cole Reyes and Aeron Carr. Although it will be tough for Carr with the depth at WR.
Also just curious about the numbers situation. I realize that incoming freshman usually have seniors numbers but what about in the case of Dan Konowalski and RJ McGill having the same number. Can they both play with that number? I believe Notre Dame had Te'o and Gholdson with the same number.
I looked at JJ Robertson's facebook page and it appeared that he was at least taking online classes or something this summer so maybe he is trying to work his way back on the team. He's also listed under Redshirt Freshmen.
