Definitely agree, seeing UND on a bracket would be alot of fun. Really cool to see a small school on the national stage, competing with the big boys.
-
Probably true, but they could certainly become relevant. If they can get in the tournament , or even surprise a team once they get there, it would do alot for recruiting. I'm not saying they will be a Gonzaga in the next year, or ever ... but they could certainly become much more relevant than they are now. They have made some really nice progress in the past few years, I just hope it continues. As for splitting the tourney, I can see the argument on both sides of that. I for one, am a big tradition guy, so I hope it stays the way it is; and if the Sioux never win a Championship then so be it (why we have hockey ), but I still hope to see them make the tourney and compete. Cinderella story teams are always fun if you are fortunate enough to see it happen to your team.

Defense? I can already see him getting some time at forward, like a Gleason, if need be.

*fun not fund (hate typos)

NDSU and Kansas a few years ago? Bison had a very legitimate shot at winning that game. Though I think that is part of accepting the size of your school. Will UND ever be a #1 seed in the NCAA Bball tourney? Probably not, barring some major changes over maybe 50 years. BUT that is part of the fund of a school UND's size. It is a big deal to make the tourney, and if you can win a game or two its exciting to compete with and beat some of the bigger school. From there you have to just hope you programs can recruit and build.
-
You're kidding, UND is going to roll throught the BST next weekend, steamroll the NCAA and beat Kansas for the championship.

Its been a long time since I've had a Deeks pizza. I always liked popolino's more though. Could we play in a Popolino's Pizza Bowl?
-
When will he enter the draft, and does anyone know which round he is expected to go in?
-
Fun to think about all of that potential together. I would love to see UND get a group of talent like we had with the DOT line. How did we not win a title back then. Tough to get that much high end talent together on a college team though.
-
100% agree, obviously having both could really set this team apart, but Brock would have really added that huge scoring punch. Hard to imagin the sioux having tied 7 games if we had Brock on the ice.
-
Who else would you consider a second tier team? Big sky teams? WAC teams?

I'd take the Dell from THIS year! Everything I have seen about him has been impressive. Thats not to know Zane or Clark, they are doing a good job, but it would have been great to see Aaron back for another season.
-
Agreed, the administration needs to at least formulate a plans for When and If. The last thing the school would want to do is miss an opportunity like that. And as for the stadium, on campus football would really be a great thing. I have to believe it would bring alot more student support if the game was right there for them. Tailgating is pretty good in GF now, but if you put it on campus the atmosphere would be great.
-
As for the stadium issue, that won't be a problem either. Once I'm a billionaire (any day now), I play to donate a football stadium to match The Ralph. So at least UND has that to look forward to

Interesting to know some of the requirements. Certainly possible, eventually, but as you said it would definitely take some time. It would be alot of fun to see UND playing some bigger schools, or even making a bowl game. But at least we are playing some better FCS competition compared to the D2 opponents from a few years ago.
-
For those of you that have followed Aaron Dell's progress this year, he has been pretty stellar; not to mention showcasing some impressive boxing skills. Who knew? Where would UND be is Mr. Dell had decided to stay at UND. No doubt we have had some impressive showings from both Gothberg and Saunders, but neither had the experience that Aaron had compiled through his years at UND. I tend to believe that with that type of goaltending we would be running away with the conference. I definitely see us winning the majority of the 7 ties that we currently have. Thoughts??
-
So this would be far fetched considering UND only recently transitioned to the FCS level, but it seems fund to discuss. What are the thought on UND ever making the move up to the FBS level. I have always heard it is not "as big" of a transition as D2 to FCS is. Is this something UND could eventually see in the future. Our facilities for several sports are already competitive at that level, especially with the addition of the indoor practice facility. What conference could we potentially fit in to, if we ever made the move? Is this an eventual reality, or just a dream? Thoughts

Me too! Standing room only, but I'm looking forward to it.

It seem pretty clear that Penn State's interest in adding hockey was contingent upon a Big 10 hockey conference. They had not interest in joining in any other league. I have to agree that The Big 10 is primarily what is splitting up the current WCHA; had we not seen that conference alignment there would be no NCHC formed.

I believe there will be a webcast on AmericaOne though. I haven't confirmed that but heard it through one of these message boards

I always love that one

Hopefully they can finish strong going into the BST. Obviously winning the tourney would be a long shot with Montana and Weber St. but it is certainly possible. Montana is missing some high end talent, and if the Sioux stay healthy it only takes one or two top notch games to get the finish they need. Like I said its a long shot, but it would be a blast to see these guys make it to the NCAA tourney. Go Sioux!

make that "exceptional" rivalry
-
That is exactly how Wisconsin turned their program into what it is. Their club team beat the goofers, and created a pretty exception rivalry. I could handle eventually losing a game to NDSU in hockey, and the ridicule that goes with it to create another great rivalry. Though if it were to ever happen it would be years down the road. They have been pretty clear about having no interest in a D1 hockey program right now.
-
The nice thing for NDSU is that they could play in Scheels arena, at least for a while. But I believe they have made it quite clear that they will not pursue hockey, or they would have done it a few years back when Moorhead was trying to setup a team. As for a Pac 12 Conference, I would be all for that, I think there is definitely enough hockey interest up in the Northwest to put one together. It just comes down to startup costs for both Mens and Womens programs. I am definitely not a fan of splitting the WCHA to create the Big 10 conference, but since it is happening, we can only hope the Big 10 continues to add teams and grow the sport. What about Rutgers or Maryland? Arn't they joinging the B1G in other sports? Maybe they have some hockey interest?
