  1. I reall like what you have to say about Olson, if he can truly compare to a Kaip that would be great. I feel like Kaip's physical gritty play is sorely missed. I always loved watching him and Radke mix it up. Looking forward to more and more talents on this team.
  2. I've read that next season could be one of the best recruiting classes we've had. and could be the top in the country? Which guys do we expect to see on campus next fall, and who do we expect to be the big contributor right away? Any high end goal scorers?
  3. How about, you got yelled at for using too much extracurricular bandwidth at work, because you are always on siouxsports.com
  4. It is certainly possible, but the Richter award definitely raises the level of play required for the goalie to win the Hobey.
  5. Not sure why Dowd is in the top 3, good player but not a top 3 guy. (may have impressed some voters by turning down money to return?) I would have thought Archibald over Dowd. I know alot of Goofer fans are peeved over Wilcox not getting in, and while I don't think he is a Hobey Hat Trick guy, I can understand the frustration; very similar to when Lamoreux missed the Hobey Hat Trick. Wilcox has had a great season, but his success can be overshadowed by the team in front of him. While he has played well, he hasn't really had to win games for them, because they have a strong team. Had his team depended on his performance more, he may have convinced more voters that he was worthy of being in the top 3. That being said, Gadreau obviously wins anyway.
  6. Gimme BC, just not the goofs! Agreed, I don't like BC, mainly because they have dominated us too often in recent history. But I would much rather see them win it all, over the Goofers. Thats a whole different kind of rivalry; The last thing I want to hear (if we don't win it all) is Gopher fans chirpin. They're already so high and arrogant on their program (granted every program has some of those fans), but I'd prefer not to seem them close the gap between our teams on the number of NCAA titles.
  7. As mentioned one of his grandson's already plays for the U, and the other one chose not to go to the U. Didn't want to live with the comparison to his Grandpa, wanted to create his own reputation, which you gotta respect. I think overall he has Letieri at U of M, Nanne at Ohio St, and Nanne at RPI.
  8. Well put. I agree. Gotta keep their goals low. If we are going to win, I highly doubt it is going to be a 6-5 type of game.
  9. Wasn't he the one that said the rivalry needed a cooling off period? He's a good coach, but seriously what a joke.
  10. nailed it, we just don't have great forwards. There is no frattins, oshies, toews or duncans on this team. Grimaldi could be a great scorer in a year or two, but there is nobody that stands out like those other guys (I know Oshie and Toews are rare exceptions of recruits), but still ...
  11. Then again, Lou is a sports personality now, not a player. No big deal if he looks past us; I'm sure Lucia and his team are focusing on this game. Should be a great one.
  12. True, I think the annoying part is Lou seems to make this kind of comments too often. Like I said earlier in the thread, I would never say something like "we lucked out and got the easiest road to the title game" ... There is no easy way to the title game in any frozen four. If you play yourself into the F4, other teams should consider you dangerous. Whatever, I just hope the boys show them the path is a little more difficult that Lou thinks.
  13. fair enough
  14. To summarize, If Hak (not the players), but Hak doesn't win the next two games, the rest of his wins, frozen fours, WCHA titles, Final Five tourney wins, success in general means nothing. Why keep Hak when we could go get an unproven coach with none of those credentials. You do realize that win or lose the next two games, he is the same coach. Your argument lacks depth. Remember that to fire an accomplished coach, a better one should be available. Any to scpa0305's point, this is the dumbest conversation to have, when the boys just made it to the frozen four. Probably time for Michigan St Basketball to fire their coach, and Coach K lost to Mercer ... He must suck! I get the guy is missing the national title on his resume, but you have to factor in the rest of his accomplishments, when have this discussion.
  15. I was too at first. First time he has gotten me to buy in to one of these in a few years.
  16. Great one for April Fools! The truth is if Gothberg stays on his game he has the opportunity to take home better hardware that the Hoby. I think most people would gladly hand over their Hoby for a National Title, and if Gothberg stays on his game, his name may be in the mix next year anyway.
  17. I hope Hak makes a BIG point to the guys that we have to avoid dumb penalties (I'm sure he will); can't give MN the powerplay advantage. That would be an easy way to hand them the momentum. Emotional game, Emotional Rivalry; can't get too emotional in the wrong situations.
  18. Didn't Hextall have a broken foot or something a few years ago? Amazing what these guys can play through. Just hope these guys can get enough rest by next week. I not a big fan of have such a long break between the regional and the F4, but is definitely a benefit for us this year. The goofs were hot this past weekend, let them cool off and then have to travel. and let our guys heal up.
  19. Exactly what I was referring to, he just discounts North Dakota's capabilities. He should know better than that with his experience. The truth is, there is not easy road; at this point in the season, everyone has proved they have talent, and if you want to win, you will need to beat at least two of those teams. I hope we can throw it right back in his face; beat the Goofs and hang up #8 On the other hand, I guess part of his job is to get their fans excited; though it does not take much with this rivalry.
  20. Exactly, look back to when they blew out Miami, they were taking quick one times and getting good traffic in front of the net. Havn't seen many one time shots from the D recently, they get the puck and hold it until someone it right in their face. Hope they can make some of the small changes before next week. AND get healthy, heal up the guys so every can give their all.
  21. Good point, if we could have a young guy step up it would really help. Johnson made some noise a few weeks back but has been really quiet. The guys just need to start getting pucks to the net, not looking for the perfect tic-tac-toe play. Shots, Crash the net, Rebounds. Get the gritty goals.
  22. Haha I love when the guys make fun of Nanne on the radio for that part of the movie. Always funny
  23. Mazzocco was always obnoxious. I actually didn't mind Woog as much, except that he could never get a sentence out. I even remember Wooger picking the Sioux to sweep the Goofs one year. But Mazzocco was one of the worst, most bias game callers ever. Ever penalty for the Goofs shouldn't have been, and every other team was getting away with everything. Ugh he was terrible. So glad he is gone.
