  1. Agreed, I think they are in the very favorable region. Key against Wisco is get and early lead and play the whole game. If you let up at all they will make you pay, like Ohio State.
  2. True, but the NCAA maybe make changes to save money and improve attendance. More sioux fans to cincinatti that going all the way east. Regardless, i'm just glad we're in. Still think the best improvement they could make to this tourney is have every region at a campus location. So tired of games played in near empty arenas.
  3. I don't care who we play, just glad we made it. That Wisco game was intense to watch ... definitely made it fun. If today's UND team shows up, we will be in every game. GO SIOUX!!!
  4. I though Ohio State would get tired after withstanding Minnesota last night. I'm still looking for Wisco to take control of this game, and then pull away. Not giving up yet!!
  5. Agreed, UND has much more to play for, that being said WM will not just lie down for us either. They'll want to put the nail in our coffin and end the season. Hope they come more prepared than yesterday. I'm really not ready to be done watching Sioux hockey for the year.
  6. Finally, someone makes a statement with some common sense. By all means, if there are some idiots that want him fired ... want away; but there are no ground upon which the University would let him go. I want a championship like everyone else, but I can appreciate a competitive team year in and year out. I'll take the over the 1 title we have seen Duluth paired with all their mediocre seasons.
  7. True but want to fire someone needs to have reasonable support, firing someone who has won at least 20 games every season seems bit premature to me, even without the national title. Throw in the Frozen fours, league championships, and final five tourney wins, and he has a pretty accomplished resume. If we need to call this a down season, I'm ok with that. This is the same chatter gopher fans were having the year or two where they missed the NCAA tourney, and I don't think they were even this successful when that happened. They stuck with Don, and they have a top team in the country with loads of talent. We have a great deal of incoming talent. Do I expect more of Hak, sure ... but to call for his head with his production is asinine. Nobody can seem to produce a name that would be a legitimate replace, that would maintain Haks productions. You want a better coach, one needs to be available.
  8. Go to to the NCHC website
  9. Thought the same thing!
  10. Not playing dump and chase would be one adjustment ... both teams have to deal with ice conditions and rink issues, not just one. At least we had a fan base there, more than Miami anyway. Bottom line is they just didn't get it done. Better come to work today though!
  11. Also well put .... A loss I can deal with, A loss like we had tonight it much harder to handle. Time to win and get lucky!
  12. Which is not all bad, he is a guy who should stay and develop. Can anyone imagine if we had Nelson here as a senior. That is the scoring touch we lack
  13. Love everything about this post! GO SIOUX!!! get in the tourney and its a new season!
  14. I hope he stays, but I think you make a good point. He could be great with the right talent around him, but he may leave just for a new opportunity to showcase his talent. We'll see.
  15. Schmaltz is probably the only guy that could leave IF he wanted and I don't think he does. That being said, I think he could be great next year with the new class of talent. We don't really have any great offense. Johnson shows some promise, but we definitely need some new scoring to come in.
  16. It had everything to do with adjustment. Miami was playing teriffic D, and prevent us from getting quality shots, we did nothing to change that.
  17. Believe whatever you want, but who do you want that has had more success than Hak? You want someone, then someone has to be available. Nobody is going to fire someone with Haks numbers. Can you imagine any other program firing a guy with Hak's numbers? It just doesn't make sense.
  18. I like Cary Eades, I wish they had kept him here over Berry. But for as many draft picks as this team has, they are not a high talent class. Most of these kids will probably never see NHL ice. This is not the high talent picks like Toews, Oshie, Parise, Stafford. It sounds like we may have some of those coming in next year, but a draft pick is only a number on paper. You only have to watch this team to realize this team does not have the talent we have seen over the last 10 years. Are they good, YES. Are they great, NO. A few more pieces to the puzzle and they could be. We have a strong defense ... a few top end scorers .. a Dzingel, a Czarnik, a Archibald ... you have a whole new outlook.
  19. Which makes most think of UND fans as morons. He has been more successful than most. Maybe Miami fans will chant to fire Blaisi if they are losing tomorrow. Or maybe the Gopher should fire Don because they lost tonight. All good coaches lose games ... ask Dean Blais, Red Berenson, Jerry York, Jack Parker Etc. The difference, all those coaches have championships ... but they have also coached for many more years. Keep Hak in place, he will get one, and probably a few. It will happen.
  20. I don't want to turn this into a Hakstol debate thread, but name a coach with better results over the last decade that you will replace him with. To replace a coach, you need a better option. That being said, I do think he made some mistakes tonight, not adjusting to Miami's play, not calling a timeout after the STUPID STUPID icing at the end of the second. Calling a timeout with a few seconds left in the game. And with that officiating, it would have been nice to seem him get fired up and in the officials face a bit. All that being said, I don't think tonights game is indicative of his career as a whole. He has had success competing and recruiting, and when a better option is available I may be open to new options. For now Hak is the coach, he is the best option and he is a title away from being regarded as one of the most decorated and successful coaches in the program. Player need to be held accountable too, and tonight they did not perform. Upperclassmen looked lost, and the freshman truly looked like freshman.
  21. haha yeah what was that about. Most impressive thing about tonight was not letting Miami score when we pulled the goalie as early as we did. And missing a few open nets in spectacular fashion was impressive in its own regard.
  22. Horrible missed call by the officials. They were awful tonight, but they did not cost UND the game... the players did. Though I would debate that the officiating was just about as bad as UNDs play.
  23. Could not disagree more. 1st period and beginning of the second is where they played the strongest. The entire second half of the game, is where they dropped off. They allowed Miami to clog up the neutral zone, and prevent them from ever getting the puck deep or getting a quality shot. Almost all shots were from way out to the side, and if the D ever took a shot they hesitated until Miami was in a position to block it. UND got beat in every area of the game tonight. They better show up tomorrow, and pray for some help. This is still a team that could make some noise in the NCAA tourney, but they will need some help to even make it at this point.
  24. Agreed, officiating was awful, and the bounces were bad too, but the boys just did not take care of business either. They let Miami dictate the game
  25. Miami showed up tonight, UND did not. One of the worst performance I've seen by UND in over 10 years of being a fan. No crisp passing, no forechecking, majority of shots were low quality, and without rebound opportunities. Did UND not watch film from the big win over Miami? Crisp passes quick shots ... every time the D got the puck tonight they waited and waited to shoot. Starman nailed it, they need to get pressure down the middle, and never did. I like Hak, but he made no adjustment throughout the game, and allowed Miami to play a style where all they had to do was clog up UND, a ton of neutral zone play tonight, which makes for a low energy boring game. They completely shut us down, and we did nothing about it. Miami deserved to win tonight, and UND better win tomorrow if they want any chance to keep playing, not that they deserve it after that performance. This team CAN be dangerous, but they looked much more like the team we saw at the beginning of the season. Extremely disappointing.
