  1. Didn't Hextall have a broken foot or something a few years ago? Amazing what these guys can play through. Just hope these guys can get enough rest by next week. I not a big fan of have such a long break between the regional and the F4, but is definitely a benefit for us this year. The goofs were hot this past weekend, let them cool off and then have to travel. and let our guys heal up.
  2. Exactly what I was referring to, he just discounts North Dakota's capabilities. He should know better than that with his experience. The truth is, there is not easy road; at this point in the season, everyone has proved they have talent, and if you want to win, you will need to beat at least two of those teams. I hope we can throw it right back in his face; beat the Goofs and hang up #8 On the other hand, I guess part of his job is to get their fans excited; though it does not take much with this rivalry.
  3. Exactly, look back to when they blew out Miami, they were taking quick one times and getting good traffic in front of the net. Havn't seen many one time shots from the D recently, they get the puck and hold it until someone it right in their face. Hope they can make some of the small changes before next week. AND get healthy, heal up the guys so every can give their all.
  4. Good point, if we could have a young guy step up it would really help. Johnson made some noise a few weeks back but has been really quiet. The guys just need to start getting pucks to the net, not looking for the perfect tic-tac-toe play. Shots, Crash the net, Rebounds. Get the gritty goals.
  5. Haha I love when the guys make fun of Nanne on the radio for that part of the movie. Always funny
  6. Mazzocco was always obnoxious. I actually didn't mind Woog as much, except that he could never get a sentence out. I even remember Wooger picking the Sioux to sweep the Goofs one year. But Mazzocco was one of the worst, most bias game callers ever. Ever penalty for the Goofs shouldn't have been, and every other team was getting away with everything. Ugh he was terrible. So glad he is gone.
  7. Well Lou Nanne doesn't give the Sioux much of a chance. Understandable that he is so confident in the Gophers; they have had a great season, and they certainly played well this past weekend. But Lou's bias towards the Gophers seems to overwhelm his hockey smarts, and we all know Lou is a smart hockey guy. I remember a few years ago, where he didn't even give the Sioux a chance at the Final 5. He basically said it would be a tough tourney with the other teams there, but UND wasn't going to be competitive. This was one of the several years that we went on to win the tourney. You would think by now Nanne would know better than to overlook anyone that makes the frozen four; particularly after his beloved Goofer got bounced by Yale last year; then running the table to win it all. At this point in the year anyone and everyone can be dangerous. As for me, I'm glad we are considered the underdogs. We have not been favored yet in this tourney, and the boys are playing well; particularly Gothberg. If we could find the scoring touch that we had a month or so ago, we would be unstoppable. Hope the boys looks at the tape against Miami in the blowout game to not what to do, and the loss to Miami to fix some mistakes. We do need some people to step up next week though: Grimaldi needs to keep it up (he tends to show up for big games) Gotherberg (keep doing your thing) Mark MacMillan (I feel like I havn't heard his name much lately, has he been injured or just off his game a bit) Parks (Not much senior leadership on this team, Parks needs to get the troops going) Schmaltz (Big D presence, with a capability to control the puck and score; Defense need to get shots to the net quicker for rebound opportunities. They have been hesitating too long on their shots lately and allowing too many to be blocked) Can't wait for the game, GO SIOUX!!
  8. Gophers lost the third place game at the final five, Hirsch went crazy. I think he left the team, then came back, then go dismissed. Dude was nuts ... too bad, cuz he was a pretty decent player.
  9. Maybe Robert Morris can channel their inner BC, and crush the Goofs!
  10. The bookies also had Duke beating Mercer and Ohio State beating Dayton ... What morons!
  11. Yep, my bad ... trying to type it quickly at work. Go Sioux!
  12. If those are the biggest problems they have this weekend, I think everyone, including the players and coaches, will be VERY happy!!! Go Sioux, can't wait for the game!
  13. Rnd 1 Robert Morris over Minnesota SCSU over Notre Dame Sioux over Wisconsin Ferris State over Colgate BC over Denver Mass Lowell over Mankato Union over Vermont Quinnipiac over Providence Rnd 2 SCSU over Robert Morris UND over Ferris State BC over Denver Union over Quinnipiac Frozen Four UND over SCSU BC over Denver Championship UND over BC I pick UND every year ... eventually I will get this right!
  14. I think the key to scoring on the badgers will be similar to the way the badger beat OSU. Crash the net. They would get a puck in the slot and have 2 or 3 guys sitting there for rebounds. OSU goalie didn't have a chance on that goal, and Wisco had several good chances before that went in. Hoping we don't see the hesitation in shooting the puck that we saw against Miami either. They seem to want to hold the puck a few seconds to long before getting it on net.
  15. Thats right, I remember that Princeton game too. Did not play well at all! Lucky to make it to the F4 that year, but isn't that the year we got smoked by BC (wait which time) ... Pretty sure Gerbe had a hat trick by early 2nd period.
  16. My brother is a Mankato grad student (though a very proud Sioux alum) and he couldn't believe Ferris was ranked as high as they were earlier this year when Ferris went to Kato. Apparently the Mavs just cleaned house on them. Not a team to overlook, but it sounds like they have some big weakness too. I agree that if we can be Wisco, and take some good momentum into the second game, we would have a great chance of getting to the F4. All comes down to which team shows up, the team that lost to Miami, or the team that beat W Mich. Can't wait, GO SIOUX!
  17. I remember watching this one. I was in my last year at UND, and we didn't get the channel (ESPNU i think), so we were crammed into Dagwood, with hardly any room to sit. That place just erupted with Kozek scored. Great times!
  18. I know which one you are talking about, the replay was actually pretty funny. The guy looked like he was pushed by someone invisible, because the Ohio St. player didn't even touch him. Glad the refs didn't bite on that one.
  19. Agreed, I think they are in the very favorable region. Key against Wisco is get and early lead and play the whole game. If you let up at all they will make you pay, like Ohio State.
  20. True, but the NCAA maybe make changes to save money and improve attendance. More sioux fans to cincinatti that going all the way east. Regardless, i'm just glad we're in. Still think the best improvement they could make to this tourney is have every region at a campus location. So tired of games played in near empty arenas.
  21. I don't care who we play, just glad we made it. That Wisco game was intense to watch ... definitely made it fun. If today's UND team shows up, we will be in every game. GO SIOUX!!!
  22. I though Ohio State would get tired after withstanding Minnesota last night. I'm still looking for Wisco to take control of this game, and then pull away. Not giving up yet!!
  23. Agreed, UND has much more to play for, that being said WM will not just lie down for us either. They'll want to put the nail in our coffin and end the season. Hope they come more prepared than yesterday. I'm really not ready to be done watching Sioux hockey for the year.
  24. Finally, someone makes a statement with some common sense. By all means, if there are some idiots that want him fired ... want away; but there are no ground upon which the University would let him go. I want a championship like everyone else, but I can appreciate a competitive team year in and year out. I'll take the over the 1 title we have seen Duluth paired with all their mediocre seasons.
