  1. To put the football game into perspective, and to remind everyone not to judge a whole fan base on a few trolling comments, I though I would share the below link. Apparently, some of the USD fans decided to partake in a very classy act for the Weber St. coach before last week's game. Nice work Coyote fans! http://usdcoyotesports.proboards.com/thread/1780/weber-state-coachs-wife
  2. Seriously, who the hell cares about the conference comparisons, especially when both teams have been middle of the pack to basement dwellers. The only teams who can really argue their conference strength on an annual basis are probably SDSU and UNI, as they generally make the playoffs, but sit behind a 5 time national champ in their conference. Same with the Big Sky and MT, EWU and MTST (though not lately). Unless your and annually at the top of the conference, it really doesn't matter a whole lot. I get that there is some aspects to conference strength being important, but it is not the end all be all that some many people, especially MVFC (but some BSC) fans make it out to be.
  3. Just ignore Yote 53, he was being obnoxious on the USD board too. Try to talk football over there, and most people are pretty cool, but you get your trolls everywhere that just want to argue. Ultimately, both teams have plenty reason to be confident about this game: UND is 0-2. USD is 1-1. UND is 5pts from being 2-0, USD is 3 pts from being 0-2. UND has a stud RB and a solid D. USD has a pretty solid transfer QB, and their RB has played well. In comparable games from last season (NDSU and Drake) USD fared far better. UND gets home field advantage. All together, it is not ridiculous for either fan base to feel they have an edge in this one. As I am a UND fan, and have watched more UND football; I think of offense comes alive this week. I think our defense does the job containing Bouma, but I think Streveler will get some yards. 31-24 UND
  4. Agreed. Some of my favorite being UND beating NDSU in 03 (my freshman year), and beating North Alabama (same year) to go to the NCAA Championship game. Ended up going to that game in Florence, AL. Great experience, wish he could have beat Grand Valley though.
  5. I get having to keep the student section dry, but it always seemed a little stupid too. No sipping a beer throughout the period; instead we'll make kids run out during period break, and chug a 32 oz beer 2-3 times per game. Much better in terms of keeping kid under control.
  6. Agreed, hockey at the Ralph is just a whole different experience. Absolutely loved all the nights I spent there back in college. I'm sure that is how a lot of Bison fans feel about their time at the Fargo Dome. I just hope eventually we can get back to packing the Alerus with students. It'll take time, effort and winning. I also go back to saying get an on campus stadium, but that is a whole other conversation.
  7. Wow, I didn't know they took away seats. What is wrong with kids these days. Though, back when I was in school, if we had upper bowl tickets, we would use them for the first period. Scout out open/unused reserved seats and try to sneak down.
  8. Kind of sad, unfortunately not everyone is an avid football fan. Only way to get the student attendance up is to win, and win consistently.
  9. Maybe it is just the picture, but Geno looks like maybe he got a little bigger. A little thicker in the neck, hopefully he bulked up a bit, because he was kind of scrawny last season. Kid needs to take a big step forward this season. He was fun to watch last year, and I expect him to do big things at UND.
  10. Not sure where to put this, but I figure this is as good of a place as any. There has been plenty of article floating around regarding whether or not the NHL will participate in the Olympics in 2018. If they choose not to, would we expect to see the Olympic team go back to college players then? On the one hand, it would be really hard to compete. On the other hand, it would be really fun to see college kids back on the Olympic team. It'll be interesting to see if college kids get the opportunity, and if UND will have anyone that would be able to participate at that time.
  11. Anyone else need a Santiago Home Run fix. He had a nice game last weekend, but I really want to see the kid have a game like he did against N Colorado or Mt State, and hit a big long runs.
  12. Thats harsh man, but at least its not coffee.
  13. It is definitely a must win game, but more than that, I would like to see a convincing win. Something to really get the momentum rolling on this team. Lets get the whole team clicking before we have to hit the road again.
  14. bahaha
  15. I think it all comes down to how they start. They showed, even last week, that they CAN move the ball quickly and efficiently. Studs needs to step in and command the offense early to get some rhythm. I think this also falls on the OC to call the right plays early. If the offense gets going from kick off, we have seen what they are capable of. I'd really like to see them use all of their RBs and really grind down the defense. Has Neverman really played yet? There was a lot of positive chat about him from last year, into this season.
  16. Enjoy the trip, really wish I could make it up from Minneapolis. Hopefully the tailgating and weather is good. Yeah, there is a lot of confidence on this board despite the 0-2 start. Trying to put it all in persepective the SB game was just a terrible offensive showing. Not sure what the issue is; O-Line getting up to speed, QB jitters, etc. We know we have talent in our RBs, and we know what our QB is capable of doing (though he hasn't done it consistently this season. We saw the same offensive woes in the first half of the game against Bowling Green, then started to kick it in gear and play more like the offense from the end of last season. The key for UND tomorrow will be getting the offense going right away. If we do that, I think we win the game; if our offense only plays half a game then who knows. Probably the most significant reason for continued confidence in this team is the defense. They have played really well in two games, and are pretty deep. I think we knew how good our front 7 would be, but now our corners are actually stepping up and playing well too, which was a big question mark after last season. At Safety, Cole Reyes is a beast. So again, no game is an auto-win, certainly not this game. But especially playing at home, I really like this team to get in the win column. Enjoy the trip and the game.
  17. No argument here, as long as you are building your team around that or bringing in a total head case. Utilizing some more FBS dropdowns would be fine with me.

    2016 Season

It does make me wonder what happened with him. I though he moved to GF because of his wife, and possibly a health situation. Hopefully is all well for the guy.

    2016 Season

I don't think anyone said Prater was going to step in and be THE guy after Studs. Just that it would be nice to have additional depth, experience and competition at that position. Too bad it didn't work out for him. Hopefully they get another guy to add into the mix. Obviously I haven't seen Bolinske or Heidelbaugh play, and we don't know how Boltman will transition yet, but it never hurts to have more bodies to compete for the QB spot; or the back up spot.
  20. How about Green Pants, Grey Jersey and Green Helmets
  21. Agreed, I can't imagine there will be a huge spread for this game, especially given how our offense has started the last two games. But I really hope this is the turning point, we see an offensive outbreak and smoke them. Something like our games against Northern Colorado or Poly last year. Just beat the hell out of them, especially because they are in the "dreaded" MVFC
  22. Fingers crossed that Jost pulls a Boeser and stays for a second year. Really awesome if the coaches can continue holding on to these blue chippers for more than a season. Something UND has been really good at.
  23. I was just wondering this same thing. Does anyone know if UND has been in contact with the kid, or if he will be making a visit to UND this fall?
  24. Also, to be fair to Bubba's call, it did work. He had the play call right, got the matchup he wanted. Open receiver just couldn't come down with the ball. Not like the QB got sacked quickly or we had no play. Everything really did work to perfection, except for Carr bringing it down.

    2016 Season

Prater was the QB who transferred from MT. Former military guy, who was actually penciled in to start against UND last year, but was injured (I believe). He was at Hawaii before Montana. I believe he had moved to GF so he and his wife could be closer to her home. I think there were some health issues going on for her, or her family ... I didn't catch the whole story. Maybe that factored into his decision to leave the team, but like I said, would have been nice to keep a little extra depth at the position.
