Far too early, but what the hell...Bracketology
siouxfan512 replied to petey23's topic in Men's Hockey
I'm not bracketology expert, but from what I can tell by playing around with the pairwise calculator on College Hockey Ranked, other than UND obviously getting 2 big wins this weekend. We could use some help from Maine, UMass, and Clarkson. The caveat with Maine and UMass being that while them winning this weekend would help us in the pairwise, we wouldn't want either to get the HE autobid. It has been a much tougher season of hockey to watch than we are used to, but as of the the tournament is still very much in reach. Gotta take care of business this weekend though. Getting some help is great, but it does nothing if we don't help ourselves. Get back to the X, where this program has some sweet success in the WCHA! -
University of North Dakota Hockey 2017-18 Season
siouxfan512 replied to Frozen4sioux's topic in Men's Hockey
When he is out there he needs to get to the slot and shoot more. He let off some sweet wrist shots earlier this season. That seems to be an issue for a lot of the guys this year; taking quick shots. Constantly waiting a second to long and allowing defenders to clog up the shooting lanes. Would rather see more pucks to the net, and looking for some greasy goals. -
President Kennedy Candidate for UCF President's Job
siouxfan512 replied to fightingsioux4life's topic in Community
I understand this thinking, but I also understand that from the individual candidate's standpoint, they are going to consider the most desirable job. Florida vs Grand Forks??? I get it. Probably more money??? I also get it. I'm sure there are other factors as well. We'll see what happens. Now if he does not get the UCF job, and this becomes a routine of interview for new positions, then you may have a problem. But I don't really see an issue with a guy keeping his option open like this.- 485 replies

To a point, it will more likely come down to special teams. Gotta find a few PP goals and limit the stupid penalties.

NORTH DAKOTA vs. St. Cloud - SATURDAY Gameday

Thanks for posting, I was wondering this after the games. Where could we use help, other than just winning ourselves. -
NORTH DAKOTA vs. St. Cloud - SATURDAY Gameday
siouxfan512 replied to AZSIOUX's topic in Men's Hockey
The thing is two wins against Omaha guarantees two more games. With a potential for two more losses. Need to get to St. Paul and win at least 1. this team can do it if they play 3 full period each night and don’t continue to blow good leads. -
I didn’t mean to be too brash. I agree facilities are important. They are. Though not as much as the proven commodity you put on the field, even given a crappy deck of cards. We had rotten luck with injuries this past year, but didn’t do ourselves any favors in HOW we played and adjusted to those injuries. If kid want to know how they will or will not be used, our play style does not boast confidence. that being said it is always important to improve facilities and I am for it. BUT Bubba better have a tighter leash on Rudy this year. I would have liked Rudy gone after last season. If I see the same garbage again, I would like to see them both gone after this season. I’ve said before Bubbas chance to make a coaching change has come and gone. He made his decision and needs to be held accountable if it fails (again). I hope it succeed, but definitely needs to see some proof on the field.

like NDSU's new Indoor Practice Facility. Oh wait, that was us.

Can't disagree with this. A more create offense, and utilization of our talent translates to wins which translates to recruiting.

Disagree, this team tends to play to, or just under, the level of our competition. Not a team that really get blown out, just a team that can’t quite get it done. -

Not the way they, or the teams that drafted them, are going to be looking at it. -

Cuz he has played so poorly tonight? -
Wasn’t one of the keys in this series to get a ton of pucks to the net because they’re goalie wasn’t as solid. Our boys still look like they’re waiting too long to shoot. They wait thy extra second for someone to be able to block the shot. Just get the puck deep and look for the tip or the rebound.
-
We were up 3-0. Pressure was all on Miami at that point. They responded, we folded.
-
Completely agree. I like Cam, but he has cost us more close games than he has really won for us.
-
Let in 4 goals against a team that hadn’t scored in 3 1/2 games.
-
Yeah cam made some good saves, also let some bad ones go. Why do we expect more out of our seniors, unless they are a goalie. Again, I like Cam, and I think he does need a little more help from the surrounding cast; that being said he needs to elevate his play. Letting in too many softies.
-
I’m a cam fan, but the wrap around goal was poorly played. He could have saved at least one other. Team didn’t play great, but neither did cam. Certainly didn’t elevate his play like we would ask of any other senior.

Berry is like Bubba. Great guys, but lack that edge.
-
I’d consider it a win if we could somehow get to St Paul (for the NCHC tourney). I’d like to take my kids to their first hockey games like I had planned at the beginning of the season.
-
It’s already on the weekly schedule

Berry know hockey, but I wonder if he is too soft sometimes. Hak had an edge. He wasn’t players best friend, he was their coach, and it showed. This opinion has nothing to do with Berry, but I was never in the Fire Hak crowd...and if the NHL doesn’t work out long term for him, I’d love to see him back at UND!

So good!

You must be thinking of Gaarder. Yeah he played with heart.
