There is a new rule now in college football that makes it illegal to come across the ball and cut block. So for instance, one of our bread and butter plays has always been the inside zone "swipe" play where the fullback starts on one side of the formation and comes across to the other side after the snap to block the backside DE or OLB. To change things up a bit and slow down the defender, every now and then the FB used to throw a cut block to keep him honest and slow him down. Thanks to the NC$$, that is no longer an option. Ruining the college football game once again. Unfortunately, I believe that is one of the penalties that Solum was called for.

Ok, last post on this, I promise... In no way, shape or form did I say an FBS win is more important than FCS success. All i said was that we need a signature FBS win. It could not do anything but HELP our cause with recruiting. I never said I thought it was more important than doing well against FCS competition. If you think I said otherwise, go back and re-read my posts. Having said that, can't wait to watch the game tomorrow at the Alerus. Hopefully we have a full house. GO SIOUX!

I guess I didn't know I had to choose one or the other. I never said I would choose a signature FBS win over FCS and playoff success. All I am saying is that it matters to recruits more than you give credit for. A signature FBS win plus FCS success is a bonus no matter how you look at it.

Darell, you may not care about the signature FBS wins and that really doesn't matter. What does matter is that recruits think it's a big deal.

Considering the fact that Fargo State hasn't beaten UNI yet with a full allotment of D1 schollies makes our win in 2006 against UNI as a D2 school that much more impressive. But you're right, we need a signature win against a FBS school. Just goes to show the potential we have as a FCS school. We still have a lot of room for improvement. That's the promising part. We are sitting pretty far below our "ceiling" still. Exciting.

Wow. I forget how impressive he was in JUCO. I see a confident kid who has good pocket presence, can look off half the field, then throw back to the other and is very accurate on his deep balls. The only question is the competition and level of play. We will see. I too hope for more of that highlight film, starting with the Drake Bulldogs on Thursday evening. GO SIOUX!!!

We will see what the attendance will be for this year when the fans have 3 good FCS games (Drake, Poly, USD) and 3 not so good games (Montana Western, Black Hills St and Sioux Falls). I hope people come out and support the team this year at every game. The Big Sky Conference schedule is on the horizon. Lets send this program out of transition oblivion with a bang and send them into the 2012 recruiting season and Big Sky with some momentum. Recruits will be at these games guys. Lets not disappoint.

If I were on the coaching staff, I would make Drake prepare for both QB's. Two totally different styles of play. They have all the film of Goska and none of Bradley. I completely understand why they would wait, regardless if they have made their decision yet or not.

SFI has been saying that Bradley should be the guy and that he has looked good in practice. I have heard the same things.

Show me where I said THIS POLL would determine our fate on this issue. It's an opinion poll, plain and simple. The poll question is: Should UND have a nickname or not? Don't call me or others who agree with me "fools and naive" because we don't share your insight or opinion on this. I have NEVER posted that I think "no nickname" will come to fruition. It's my wish however. You have your opinion on this, others have theirs. Small sample and scale in the big picture of things, and I get that. You seem to be pretty certain of yourself and you are unfortunately probably right in the long run, but that doesn't mean that myself or the others who agree have to accept that with a smile, much like we all despise the NC$$ for their part in this. So not only did the NC$$ force all of this down our throats, but now we get to have another nickname and logo shoved down our throats. I'm not into that type of thing. Sorry if that rubs some of you the wrong way, but that's the way it is. Sorry.

We do NOT need a new nickname and logo. If a new one is chosen, I for one will not purchase any merchandise that adorns it. I have been stockpiling my Fighting Sioux gear for years for if and when this day came. I will still wear it to EVERY UND event I attend. I will also still yell and cheer for The Fighting Sioux. In 30 years, if you see a man wearing ragged and torn FIghting Sioux gear to athletic events, there is a good chance it might be me. Here's my middle finger the NC$$. GO SIOUX!

It's so awesome to know that by dropping this nickname and logo, we can solve so many problems and the world will be such a better place. I can't wait to see the results. Sorry, couldn't help myself again. A VERY sad day indeed, but unfortunately necessary. The NCAA is such a frickin' farce.
