Sounds like UNO needs to file an anti-trust lawsuit against Nebraska-Lincoln. I smell one coming.

POLL: Should UND-NDSU Resume the Football Series?
UNDvince97-01 replied to ShilohSioux's topic in Football
This is such a farce. You guys are such pussies when you hide behind that excuse. Do you realize how lame that sounds? Just think about it once. If you are superior, then lets see it on the field. Prove it. But no, some of you guys would just prefer playing the propaganda game and claim imaginary wins and superiority. Kinda like you did with a few of your national championships. -
POLL: Should UND-NDSU Resume the Football Series?

Fixed your post for you, Smoggy. -
I hate to have to go back to this again, but it would be crazy for both sides (UND and ndsu) to not entertain the thought of playing each other every other year at minimum. It just makes too much fiscal and economical sense for both athletic departments, not to mention the fan interest it would generate across the state. I do understand that neither side NEEDS the game. I also get that some on both sides do not WANT the game. That aside, I have always thought it was laughable when ndsu said they had "moved on" with new "rivalries" with SDSU and Minnesota. Make a contrived trophy to replace the nickel, and playing Minnesota a few times doesn't make new rivalries. You have to have history and tradition in rivalries, proximity, and a special kind of "dislike" for each other to make it unique. Now that we have a new and improved conference schedule, we have some of our own saying the same thing: Don't need em, who cares, move on, new rivals, etc. I also find this laughable. Both sides need to grow up and get over the ugly recent past and get this game scheduled. Both sides stand to gain a lot from this game. Yes, even if it's every other year, Brian Faison. No matter how hard both sides try to discount the rivalry between the 2 schools, we will always have the history, proximity and dislike that no other rivalry can match. Please get this game on the schedule soon.

Oh sorry, I thought we were talking football in this thread. That being said, the last time we played Minnesota was 1974. We last played NDSU in 2003.
-
Really? When was the last time we played them in football?

Wow, the schedules look incredible! GO GET YOUR SEASON TICKETS, FOLKS!!!

Wow Ole, you and I agree on something.

The format of the game was great, the tailgating and cook-off competitions were awesome and the free food was unbelievable. Combine that with the kids activities and it's really a shame the weather took a turn for the worst. Having said that, it was still a pretty good turnout. I look forward to the athletic dept building off this first year success and making it a bigger and better event every year. The football play on the field was decent and you can tell they still have a week left of practices to get better. Both sides of the ball showed rustiness and inexperience, which is to be expected. We still have a ways to go at QB but I'm not worried yet. Defensively, the d-backs and defensive line play was overall pretty good. Offensively, the future of the o-line looks very bright with lots of promising young talent. Next fall, the WR group needs to step up and make plays. Jake Miller and Mitch Suttton will complement each other well. Overall a fun weekend and I am excited to watch this team develop next season.

This is very sad to hear. Jay was a legend in the annals of Fighting Sioux Football and will be missed. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family.

Thanks for the info and updates guys. Great info.

How about this, Chicken Little? Wait and see if Bradley and Comes might be the answer in 2011 and beyond. They still have 9 spring ball practices and about 30 fall practices before their first game. You have given both zero chance after 6 practices....in spring ball. If they both don't live up to expectations and our QB's are horrible at midseason 2011, then by all means carry on with your banter. I suppose you will want to write both off by then. But even then, Comes will still be a freshman and Bradley will still be all that of a sophomore eligibility-wise. They have a combined 7 years of eligibility to play out. Can you at least give them a chance first? Deal?

Wow, that is too bad. First and foremost, take care of yourself and get better Tim. Secondly, I look forward to hearing your voice on the radio again soon.

Clairvoyant Ole saw all of this coming and we are screwed at QB in 2011 and beyond.

Thanks for the objectivity, Johnny. +1

Oh my that is hilarious. Classic stuff. "Yay Jack Michaels!! Welcome aboard to ndsu!!.....(insert fightingsioux.com link)........I mean, BOOOOOO.....Jack Michaels sucks!!! What a friggin' joke!!" Honestly, that lakesbison guy is one sick pup. Someone get that psychotic personality disorder some help.

Unfortunately, I think this is an absolute necessity. We have some talent and depth issues at safety which is probably what prompted the position change for Hawkins. I think this is the best way to get the most talent on the field, especially in nickel situations as you could have Mersereau, Hawkins, Brown, Hall and Mackey all on the field at the same time. If any of the corners slip up or get injured, hopefully the Watkins improvement discussed on SFI will help. He really had a bad season in 2010 and if he can make a positive contribution this season, I would consider it a bonus. In my opinion, we are dangerously thin behind Mersereau and Hawkins at safety, but we have some decent depth at corner. Hall & Mackey need to learn to tighten up their coverage now when needed in certain down and distance situations. They have the physical talent and confidence, now they just need to add the mental game.

Is there a UMD Bulldog message board forum somewhere? I tried to look for one, but didn't have any success. Any help would be appreciated.

What?!??! Now don't you go bringing up fiscal responsibility. That just makes zero sense. Agreed again - it goes back to people who complain up and down about the schedule and then don't go to the games to support the very cause they are passionate about. Go to the games.....that would give you a MUCH bigger reason to complain. Show your displeasure with the product you just paid money to see. Again, let me reiterate, I don't like these D2 schools on the schedule either and I seriously wish we could bring in better opponents right now, but we are simply getting what we can afford. I'm not asking ANYONE to like the D2 games. Go the games, fill the Alerus, and our athletic department's ability to schedule FCS teams will increase in the future.

It's official: http://www.fightingsioux.com//ViewArticle.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=13500&ATCLID=205124849 Welcome back, Luke Schleusner! We've missed you. I think Luke will be a great addition to the UND staff. Good hire by Coach Mussman. EDIT: Sic beat me to it by a minute....as always.

My point is that by not attending the games, you decrease the attendance, which decreases ticket and concession sales, which affects UND's future scheduling. I don't for a second believe that Faison cares about what we post anonymously here. Like you said, that is painfully obvious.
