Count me in as one who's frustrated by the current TV arrangement as it seems to be laid out. We are less than one week away from the start of the season and they still don't know what our options will be? They could have avoided a huge headache by having this figured out ahead of time so that people weren't pissed. I have Direct TV out in lakes country and do not have an option for cable, so I'm SOL as of right now. I will be SEVERELY disappointed if this holds true for this year. Guess I'm being selfish.

Seems like a no-brainer. The guy deserves it. He's done a great job so far.

POLL: Should UND-NDSU Resume the Football Series?
UNDvince97-01 replied to ShilohSioux's topic in Football
For some reason, I seem to remember the number being $350k as well for the Texas Tech game. Of course, I cannot prove anything. But that's the number I remember. I could be wrong. -
POLL: Should UND-NDSU Resume the Football Series?

I think ndsu blowhards said the same thing about your volleyball and mens bball teams too.... Until they had to actually play the games of course. -
Well, I'm hearing Golladay is indeed the total package right now. He lines up right, has amazing hands, blocks well and physically can do it all....literally. If they decide to not redshirt him, it sounds like he would play more than enough to justify it. While I would rather see him redshirt, as long as he plays accordingly, I have no problem with him playing this year if they decide to do so. In the back of my mind, I keep thinking about the red-zone offense and the fits they would give defensive coordinators and corners on the goalline with Golladay opposite Jameer Jackson.
-
If he gets his shirt pulled, he better catch 40 balls and 4 TDs at minimum. I just don't think it's a good idea unless injuries force their hand. As a total package he's not better than Hardin, McGill and Jackson right now. So why do it? We have depth guys to do what they would ask of him. Again, I'm just a rube.

I'd call that a homerun. By the way, I wanna know who is in the background hazing that poor guy? Really love the ND logo at mid-field behind him too.
-
That would make sense.

Ummm....this is interesting. Work with me here... Ok, a friend of mine in GF swears he saw WAC Commissioner Jeff Hurd on campus this week. And don't ask me how he knows what Jeff Hurd looks like. All I know is that Hurd is a Minot native and my "older" friend happens to be from Minot originally. Let the speculation begin... EDIT: What a post for #800

Hard to argue with any of this. I certainly can understand your "concerns". Having said that, I think UND is pumping up the passing game because of how consistently inept it had been the last couple years. This will only help them execute their running game and keep teams from stacking the box. I guess I would rather have a team that is more than capable of passing the ball, than not. I do not think for a second that they will get away from their running game. FWIW - UND was 3-1 last year against the Big Sky. This year's team will probably be better than last year's.
-
Even though I also stand in the end zone every game, I buy season tickets to support the cause.

I think the BSC (Fullerton) would take them simply to lock down the west and get to 16. It would help with travel etc. I think 16 would be the max and is what Fullerton ultimately wants. Whether the Presidents would go for it is another thing.

Unbelievable great news for our new conference, The Big Sky. They will follow in football in the near future too I bet - maybe 2 years.
-
I always get confused by this and I know it has been discussed numerous times. Is the official Alerus Center capacity for football 12,283 or 13,500? 13,500 seems to get thrown around a lot.
-
Wow, very educational back-and-forth and discussion. I can see both sides to this mess.

Agree. Redshirt Golladay unless he's a bona fide starter. I hope we've learned that lesson with Jer Garman. The chemistry that the 3 freshman wrs will gain working together with the 2 freshman qbs for 5 years will be amazing and fun to watch. Oliver has serious tools as well, but he's just not as ready mentally right now.

Yeah I suppose. Since the Fargodome had their name and some snowflakes on their turf since 1991, we shouldn't have 'UND' or 'ND' on ours. Honestly, who cares who had what and when? We are The University of North Dakota and we are installing turf NOW in 2012 as a FCS 1st year school in the Big Sky and it should have had a UND presence at mid-field, especially considering around 4 million will be spent on it. It doesn't and I'm disappointed. I feel like we missed an opportunity with it. But it was in the contract and 3 parties were responsible for the negotiations, etc....I get it now. I understand that a few of you on here don't care, but myself and others do. (sorry, my last post on this)
-
The negotiated contract and decisions were made by whomever (Alerus Financial, UND, City of Grand Forks). The ultimate design ended up being what it is. Regardless of what contract was agreed upon by whom, it still kinda stinks that the design is so bland and unoriginal. If you are gonna spend the money to do it, just do it right. Just because it was agreed upon and in the contract doesn't mean we have to like the end result. Just a complete lack of vision on many parties here. This is the UND home field turf. It should be illustrated as such. No doubt we are very fortunate that this is our chief complaint at this time. Things are very good right now. Some of us just want the best for the program and I think that's a good thing. Not gonna make or break the program by any means, but... Can the season start already?

What a great looking design.

I certainly can understand and respect that some on here don't care about a UND logo at midfield, but I tend to believe the majority thinks otherwise. I also tend to think recruits might think otherwise. It might be a small thing in the big scheme, but the little things count and add up. The coaching staff has adopted a "one percent better" mantra for the program because they all add up to making a difference and the program better overall. This could be a "one percent better" type of thing, maybe even more.
-
All of these details are fine and dandy - and I appreciate those of you that have contributed them to try help understand the situation. However, while I understand that Alerus Financial is no doubt a business in the end and has to do what's best for them, what better way to "connect" with the local community and their client base than to unite with the local University that everyone loves and appreciates? Would it really hurt their imaging and branding to have an ND logo at mid-field? Regardless of what our nickname is in 2015, won't we still be the University of North Dakota (ND)? UND and Alerus Financial - together for the same cause. (corny, I know, but effective) Wouldn't that help with their overall image locally, rather than have people wondering why the hell the UND logo isn't on there? I can guarantee you nobody would be complaining on the other side had the ND logo been on centerfield. It just seems too easy to do and I'm very disappointed that something couldn't have been worked out between Alerus Financial, the City of Grand Forks and UND to make it happen. Gate City found a way to make it work and I'm sure the people of Fargo are grateful to them for putting out such an aesthetically nice-looking product on the Fargodome floor. I'm just sayin'....

Our WR depth is the best it has ever been. Unless our hand is forced by injuries, we absolutely need to redshirt this kid.
-
We also need the season to get here so we can start getting poll votes from the people who confuse ndsu and UND with each other. Then we will for sure be in the top 25 every week.
-
I agree. Portland State and Cal-Poly should be on that list. Somewhere in the top 30 range. Guess UND needs to go out and earn it. I'm fine with that. Yes boys, it should piss you off. Use it.

Amazing. Phenomenal. Kudos to the people responsible for this production in the athletic department. What a great job. Might not hurt for us to all email Brian Faison and let him know our thoughts on this. I'm sure he'd love to hear something by email on the positive side of things.
