  1. I had an SE of the same year. It could beat any sportscar off the line, but the race better be 50 feet in length otherwise it was toast.
  2. Cynic update: Khabibulin is injured. Blackhawks now have a huge five hole in net. Start up the Mac Truck, it fits between Huet's legs! And just to prove I'm not a complete homer: Osgood snapped a 7 game streak of allowing more than 3 goals per game. It took a game against the Mild to do it. Seriously! Like the Mild would put up that kind of numbers. They've only done that what... 5...6 times this year? They're like a 94 Ford Probe at an NHRA Drag race competition. Nice sleek lines but no power. Hey Osgood... one word for you buddy: SUCK. Seriously, I love my Wings but it's going to be heartbreaking to see them exit within the first two rounds of the playoffs. Their D isn't exactly up to par this year and their goaltending is sucktastic.
  3. Don't hold your breath. I think there will be no tribal support at all. If anything, Goon is right. Too little, too late. Such a defeatist attitude, sure, but that's how it is.
  4. Wes Dorey
  5. I think you just proved yourself wrong. Almighty... HAH! I just play that on the internet.
  6. Hey Chief, I think I can rest my case.
  7. Just about anywhere, I'd guess. For these Canadians, almost certainly Cornell pops up. Heck, why not UW? They're recruiting everyone else. P.S. I have no idea which schools Olsen is considering, but it seems that Cornell suits stay at home D pretty well.
  8. WCH Blog posted that too.
  9. Wishful thinking AZ. Minnesota may be playing some of its worst hockey right now, but things aren't exactly peachy in Anchorage either. I expect a Gopher sweep. I don't know what we'll get with UND. I'd love for them to sweep. However the Mavs do play us tough.
  10. Do I expect that? I'd be SHOCKED if they didn't say that. I just wonder if they'll wait for a recount before declaring it or will they just wait until 1 minute past the vote tally counting to declare a misvote.
  11. Heh. Darn the Wings emblem looks good... That's not the only nice thing about her. Look here. A note, this isn't exactly NSFW, but it is swimsuit stuff so...
  12. They made it to the NC game at least once. If UNH is HEA's SCSU, then they have a case to be the superior conference to us.
  13. I don't know about any of this. If development is an issue at UMN, it is in defense. I just don't see offense as a problem with Lucia's system. It's like the Gophers are the opposite of the Wild. All the Gophers care about is offense and defense be damned. All the Wild care about is defense and offense be damned. Heck, even my Red Wings have a bit of that problem this season.
  14. Brad DeFauw!
  15. I don't know what to think about this. I still think from top to bottom the WCHA is the most competitive conference in DI, but we're not playing well as a conference this year. I can't get all excited about the CCHA either. They have their version of SCSU (Miami) but otherwise is really a 2.5 team league (Notre Dame and Michigan being the 2 and MSU being the .5). I'd guess, then, that HEA would be the best conference outside of the WCHA. BU, BC, UNH, and recently Maine and Northeastern...
  16. I even remember where I was then! Third floor, Swanson Hall common area watching it on the tube. We had a blast with that goal thanks to that goaltender's interview about his white mask. "I want to be like a ghost on the ice" or something like that. What it really means is that he was a sieve who was too cheap to get his helmet painted.
  17. (probably already been done but...) Nick Fuher!
  18. Murray Baron
  19. Well I don't like Connelly. So that, in itself, eliminates him fro contention. THERE!
  20. If you had a highly hyped team in front of you with a top notch offense and all that but you got a spotty offense and absolutely NO team D in front of you, how long would you keep your cool? Kangas isn't the problem in Minnesota. The D in front of him is. I am knowingly going to exagerate but... I'd guess that of all the goals scored in the NHL or even DI, 80% of them are due to Team D just abandoning the goaltender and leaving him twisting in the wind. I'd add that 15% is just bad strategy (mismatches or an untimely mistake by a coach or player) or a defensive play that didn't work. 1% goes to just great plays by the offensive team. 3% left goes to poor play by the goaltender. No scientific proof behind that. It's just my feeling on the matter.
  21. The Sioux called it. And I wouldn't call Connelly the D POTW. It's not who you beat. It's how well you play. 6 GA isn't POTW worthy.
  22. The Hawks look awful tonight. Huet is a sieve and got replaced. Khabibulin has no rhythm and cannot get into a groove. Toews took an AWFUL penalty cross checking a guy to the mouth. Not a cool thing to do. I don't think it was a cheap shot. He just was stupid. I don't think the Canucks think it was a cheap shot nor intentional either. Hawks now down 5-0. 2 of the 5 goals were not the goalie's fault.
  23. How can a vote be certified legit? They don't trust third parties and they've had a history of alterring things including laws and policies to suit their needs. So maybe the vote will indeed happen... and more than likely it will be what the tribal leaders will want.
  24. I don't know about all this. I recognize fighting as a part of hockey, but I despise those who cannot do anything more than fight (duh! Look at my thoughts on Boogaard). On the other hand, I don't see why it's a bad thing to manipulate the rules like Minnesota does. Yeah, Tony Lucia comes out looking like a wuss, but he manipulates the rules to his advantage. Minnesota hasn't had this kind of instigator figure since DeMarchi. Taylor tried but wussed out. He left after his freshman year to become an AHL lifer (Hey Jake, you too can see the NHL... just be like everyone else and either buy season tickets or NHL Center Ice). I think Tony Lucia is UMN's version of Hextall/Prpich/Kaip. He doesn't really fight, but he certainly gets under the skin. Schack, on the other hand, wants to impress any way he can. Think of it. With UMN's defensive corps not injured and not suspended, how much does Schack play? He doesn't. Since the Gophers have always been accused of being soft where it comes to sticking up for players and Lucia is correct in that the officiating crews the league has are woefully incompetent, Schack is just trying to fight for scholarship money, if not a place on the team. Otherwise, he could just be another on for a year and then gone... like last year, IIRC, UND had a player for a little bit whose job was to occupy a roster slot for a season or part of one. SCSU had a goaltender for an entire year who I don't think ever even took a warm up before a game. That's how I see it. Doesn't make Schack any less cheap, but I think it does add a little rationalization.
  25. Too little too late. I think the vote will either have massive flaws or, more likely, not be cast at all. Who cares. I expect, if a vote is cast, to find it overwhelmingly in favor of the name change... the numbers won't lie because most of the people who will show up to vote will be those who are against it. The rest will be too busy working to care. Really, I just say ride it out until the whole thing expires and then change the name.
