I wonder if the seemingly lack luster performance thus far of Sasha Pokaluk has something to do with it? He was drafted higher than Fins but hasn't been able to stick in the AHL even. Finley didn't jump ship early for the pros like Pokaluk did and I think that's what's going to save Fins in the long run. I don't think the reports out of training camp have been negative, have they? I don't think even the most strident Caps fan expects Finley to make his NHL debut this season. Perhaps not even next season either.

It's funny that Chris Dilks is a UND hating jackass of a troll when on his blog he's a Minnesota hating jackass of a troll. So what Chris doesn't like UND? Who cares? Why would I waste time branding Chris into such a corner as the one we put happy and his crew? Right now there are a LOT of fishy recruiting things going on in the NCAA. Admittedly, most of them don't involve UND (most of them involve UW). But UND is a team that many love to hate. Why else would we bear the brunt of having an evil nickname while the Seminoles get off scott free? Why are there certain times when JimDahl must restrict signing onto this message board? Why must Brad Schlossman moderate his blog and even then is forced (through the first amendment and intellectual freedom) to still allow some really bad posts? Minnesota fans claim that they are the most hated NCAA school in sports and I can't argue with them. They have more DI sports than UND and they are a bigger program overall than UND. However, in the arena of hockey, if Minnesota is #1, surely UND is #2. That's ok. I'm actually ok with Chris disliking the Sioux. I am ok with Gopher fans voicing their displeasure with all things Sioux. I just can't abide by UND fans acting like idiots towards other fanbases and, even worse, towards their own fanbase and team.

That's kinda odd.

Wow. That's two now. Expanding too. Miller is from Georgia (now he graduated) and soon we'll have players from the Southwest US to the NE Canadian provinces. Pretty expansive.

I'm not talking about fighting when I made the comparison. What I see in Bruneteau and Rowney is more of a checking line forward with flair. They're not going to be the ones on that line dropping gloves or agitating, but they are going to be ones that muck it up in the corners and provide some offense to the checking line. Maybe that makes no sense and there's a great possibility of being wrong. I know next to nothing about Bruneteau and even less about Rowney. However, that being said, I hope Rowney turns into a Rory McMahon type. Timely goals, grit, and hard work abound.

Like TJack? Uh... the last 3rd string goaltender that played for the Sioux to do well in his career? Aaron Walski, never a #1, but he certainly was more than a 3rd stringer by his senior year. However, if you want to go from true #3 to clear #1, you have to go out east. BU's John Curry was a recruited walk-on IIRC that was supposed to be the 3rd stringer. Ended up beating out both goaltenders ahead of him (both of whom were scholarshipped athletes).

First off - Sica.... it's bad form to measure 14 inches of height... There's 12 inches in a foot. Use proper measuring techniques! Secondly, I think Bruneteau and Rowney are going to be another Mario Lamoreaux. I have no proof of this. I just have a hunch. I think they will be solid, but not truly offensive players. Third, my line combos are: VV, Hextall, Kristo Toews, Gregoire, Trupp Malone, Zajac, Cichy Knight, Lammy, Bruneteau/Rowney/Davidson Ok, I admit I probably have a few lines that have too many or no centers on them, but otherwise, I think that would be the best makeup. Defense? I agree with yzerman19 on the pairings.

Would those badger fur jerseys make them look like those Vikings or whatever on the Capitol One Commercial.

Turco was terrible last season, especially for the first half. However, if you look at stats towards the end of the regular season, Osgood actually had WORSE stats! I guess, though, overally, I'd say Huet is the most overrated of those mentioned. I mean... Turco has been good at times and done so over a number of seasons. Osgood has Stanley Cup rings. Huet was good for one season and is now "the man" in Chicago. He is just terrible. Oh well. And better to be a Wings fan than watch the sheer boredom watching Lemaire's Wild. Well... I love ZPar and TZajac, but I fear that it's going to be the Devils being the most boring NHL team next season. Though maybe Lou will pull the plug early like he has a number of times the past 10 years. One can only hope.
-
I admit they did suck this year failing epically against a team that has Bettman's BJ fantasy on it and an overrated goaltender. Then again... no one was more overrated this year than Osgood.... maybe Huet but in the big picture... Osgood outsucked Turco this past season!

Really? All it takes is one questionable hit to make you a goon if you play for the Sioux. Reputations are easy. Take me for instance.... I don't even post on Brad's blog and I'm getting ripped in the comments section.

I'd like to see something similar to that fastest skater competition on the team for UND players. The matchup? Marto vs. Kristo.

SIOUX Recruits - 2008-09 Updates, Monitoring Their Junior League Play

Yes. They should change their names. And anything that confuses Woog will completely stupify Masucko so that is good for me. -
I think 82 sums it up well. I do think (and I'll get flamed for this) that there are a lot more support systems and programs set up for NA than for any other student ethnicity. I do believe that there are leniencies in certain areas (such as minimum GPA) in certain schools to help boost NA enrollment and retention in those Schools as well. Not to mention the fact that I don't recall there being a $10 million Caucasion cultural Center on campus.... or even one for African or Asian Americans for that matter. Nickname or not, it's not easy being NA at any University, but certainly UND has a lot to give an NA student.

How is Drew Stafford still a Free Agent (per Brad)?

Maybe this was just to reassure NMU students that the CCHA would take them back? While we're at it, I heard NMU, WMU, BGSU, UAH, and LSSU are looking to steal a team from the AHA to make a 6 team CHA reemerge. That way they can once again make the NCAA Tourney

I personally don't like the fact that there are two Matt Whites, both are heading into the or soon to be the WCHA (one to UND and the other to UNO). I know as much about Matt White as I do about Mike Fink... no, less. I know Fink was pretty darn good in High School. Thats it there. Too bad to lose a recruit if it is true, but if it is for personal reasons, then so be it. Best of luck. He always could decommit and head out east to a school in PA if he wanted to... though I can't remember if there are any DI schools (AHA maybe?) in PA. -
I think it's yet another reason not to like the Wild. GO WINGS! To a lesser extent: GO HAWKS!

The ones on scholarship have to pay less than the ones not on scholarship.

Say what you will about Frattin's departure or the graduations but I think this departure is going to hurt the program the most.... at least short term.

Cornell/Sioux--I know this is a bit early...
redwing77 replied to JESUS,family, rutgers's topic in Men's Hockey
And Cornell is the Eastern answer to UW in sheer boredom of game planning. Actually.... UW, I'd say, is slightly more exciting to watch. THAT is telling if you ask me. The only difference? Eaves isn't quite the accomplished whiny Nancy boy that Cornell's head coach is. -
I hear the third string goaltender is pretty stealthy.

Again, no knock on Mattson, but a wise choice by Hakstol. This way Mattson can take a year and develop the skills that will help him get drafted in the spring and dominate at UND after that.
-
No knock on Mattson, but I hope Hakstol brings in Knight.
