What is the point of this comment? My goodness, could we be talking about ND hockey in an ND High School hockey thread?? You are so arrogant. Go back to your own message board so you can give yourself all the pats on the backs you want. We're here to support our state and our high school's young athletes. If you can't understand that and wish to degrade and put us down, fine. Do so at your own site. IGNORED.

World Junior Tourney...oshie, lee, chorney, toews
redwing77 replied to AZSIOUX's topic in Men's Hockey
1. Why should we care what the chemistry is like on this team? All they need to do is to play together on the ice and win games. There's no rule saying that they must like each other. 2. Everything started with Kessel's mom? THIS concerns me more than what people think of Kessel. The most prominent dirt dragging on a player ever, IMO, was done because of the parents of a prominent player (Eric Lindros). They basically dragged Eric under their control and then used their control of Eric to leverage the Flyers and generally made a mess of things. Eric's reputation took a major hit because of it. Of course that was years ago and I don't know if that was an isolated event or if they still mess with Eric's professional career. However, if I were Phil, I would politely ask mom to back off. This, of course, assumes that the info is correct and not a fabrication. 3. The station said they weren't making it up? Really? Sounds like the kind of thing that Minny news station (Channel 9?) would do. TSN is a CANADIAN news station. You don't suppose that it's really just a few instances taken out of context to try to instill hope that Canada will repeat because, though everyone (including TSN) admits that US's team is more talented this year, Canada is the nation of hockey? Comon! For all we know, Kessel and Skille aren't getting along is nothing more than "Kessel plays for UMN, UW's arch rival." All this soap opera crap isn't worth our time. -
Article on Matt Jones It mentions Karl Goehring as well. It is more about families and coping with husbands who have a "rough life."

Seattle P-I Sports Article On TJ Oshie & His Journey
redwing77 replied to Yttrium's topic in Men's Hockey
Just some background info: I wrote to the author of the article and found out some interesting facts. 1. He's a Harvard alum. 2. He used to write for USCHO. -
UND92,96 -- :grumbles: Way to ruin my analogy. Well, anyways, my point is still valid. I mean, in 2003 UND dominated all year long only to lose to Denver so how's that then? EDIT: On a different note: I love that there is a high school called "Totino Grace" maybe it could change its name to "Tortino Grace" and then get a bunch of party pizzas and pizza rolls in their cafeteria?

I agree that the mask is simply bada$$. There really is no other way to put it.

Seattle P-I Sports Article On TJ Oshie & His Journey

What an excellent article. Thanks Yttrium. Have a happy holiday season! -
I'd add that regular season domination doesn't necessarily mean that South is going to be the state champs hands down. I mean, if that were true, then South would have easily won it in football. I love what my alma mater is doing this year in hockey (South is my alma mater) but I'm not going to herald the team until they've won it all.

I agree. There is one that lurks with me that I dare not ask... As for Marto, I don't think we can determine whether or not he is DI quality until after he's played in DI for a while. I am concerned about his weight, but not his playing ability. If his playing ability were in question, I doubt Hakstol and Berry would have given him a slot in our recruiting class.

Thanks JFR. I hope everyone's holidays are a special one!

I'm just glad Zach scored a goal.

Remember Luca Brazi!!!! I'll have da boys fit him for cement shoes. (But hey, all the players in pinstripe suits, fedoras, and carrying hard cases for their sticks... man that would be something.)
-
You're a Flyers fan. I doubt you would respect a rival. It's like a die hard Rangers fan saying that they respect the Islanders... a Blackhawks or an Avalanche fan saying they have the utmost respect for the Detroit organization (and vice versa). It's just not going to happen

Tough loss, PCM. My condolences. It's always tough for a death in the family around Christmas time. My grandfather died on CHristmas Day about 8 years ago. It's never a good time.
-
No we didn't. They were at the holiday classic but got upset by Wayne State in the play in game. We ended up whooping Wayne State instead. Yann Danis was on the Brown squad.

Nope, NDFlyer, I don't believe that the NHL is biased against the NCAA. Not at all. I'm saying that certain teams would rather have a guy who is ok in Europe than a guy who has done well in Junior A and/or his freshman year in the NCAAs. It isn't bias, it is how it is. Detroit has had phenominal luck with Eastern Europeans and Swedes (Datsyuk, Konstantinov, Federov, Zetterberg, Lidstrom, Larionov, and so on) and rarely uses even a late round pick on an NCAA bound player. It's how they see things. It is not how NJ sees things and that's why I respect them. And yeah, Sather's GM-ing really hurt the Rangers.

Sioux-cia, The Underground Railroad wasn't about blacks trying to get freedom. It was actually Harriet Tubman's travel agency. Their advertisements were:"See the North and half of the agrarian culture in its most beautiful, nighttime splendor! Stay in the best of pantries, barn lofts, and sheds and sleep on only the freshest, finest hay and wool blankets! Do all this while avoiding the hoards of bounty hunters and pro-slavery opportunists! Rooms are guaranteed to be quiet. Warning: Not liable for loss of property, injury, or loss of life to any and all who participate." By the way, word on the street is that the Jews didn't mind the Nazis.

Yeah, well it beats this week's MNF matchup with the Baltimore Ravens facing off against Brett Favre and the Packers.... I mean, at least the Patriots have a winning record.

How is the termite program going? Those little buggers sure are pesky! I don't care if the Western teams all stink. All that matters is that they exist. Unlike Minnesota, ND is a hockey wasteland in the western part and the more hockey that gets out there, the better.

Don't worry about it. I gave him an offer he couldn't refuse.

Ugh on the term "The NExt One." I can already hear the flames cracklin'. -
All I can speak for is rumor, but I think it had to do with: 1. Playing time against tougher opposition 2. More games How old is Beau? Does he qualify age wise to play juniors? If so, why didn't he go there?
-
With the injury slowing him down, I'd look for Finley's physical game to be something you'd see more of his sophomore season rather than his freshman year. My two cents.

Uh Wha?! I may appreciate the insight of a few Gopher posters here (Greyeagle, sagard, and occasionally WPoS), but when smack talk is thrown down, especially saying Mueller > Oshie, have at it. See if I care
