  1. Wow. The lovefest hath begun. This thread has outlived its usefulness.
  2. An interesting perspective. I've read Sioux-cia's post 3 times now and I don't get where she said "set them free." Maybe I missed it somewhere. But hey, that's alright.
  3. PCM- Everyone knows that you don't know what you've got until it's gone. As you can see, Lee's absence in the lineup last night really improved UND's game. Sorry, I worded this wrong. I'll rephrase: We didn't win because Lee got himself DQ'd on Friday night. Hence, this is another game we can blame Lee for. A much more apt description of last night's failings.
  4. No problem with PCM's posts. He has a million of 'em!
  5. I was thinking it was more sad than sick. But what do I know? I'm a racist apparently.
  6. Bo didn't score last night. Is he in Providence yet?
  7. Is it as bad as him as a junior backing up two freshmen?

    Duncan

IIRC the last NHL "star" to be Duncan's size was Theo Fleury, who was indeed 5'6 or 5'7.
  9. Are you ill? Lee and Finley have singlehandedly accounted for maybe 8 of the Sioux's 11 losses! The other 3 being blamed on bad penalties and Phil. Lee sucks. He should get signed now. Seriously though, I tuned in with about 2 minutes left in the game. The Mavs scored two goals in that time period. It reminded me of a game a few years back against Northeastern in Boston. We had a 3 goal lead in that game (I believe we lost to BC the night before) and then it was 3-1, 3-2, 3-3... tie. Collapse complete. That was abyssmal. That point was lost to us because we couldn't win a single faceoff with less than 2 minutes left in the game! We win one, we sweep the Mavs! OT was, save one point, just playing for the tie for us. The Mavs actually tried to win the game in the third period and OT. Not a good performance tonight from what little I heard.
  10. Bolded is one of the reasons why I think rider06 is onto something. Brian Lee is an offensive defenseman. Brian Lee isn't the same kind of defenseman as Greene, Smaby, Commodore, Jones, or even Schneider (though he was somewhat an offensive minded defenseman). Brian Lee is NOT going to be a bruiser. He is NOT going to go out there and try to kill people. Since that is what we expect defensemen to be if they are 6' tall or taller, Brian Lee will not be respected regardless of what he does on the ice. I really think that if he hadn't been drafted in the first round and was 4-6 inches shorter and didn't change his game play one bit otherwise, I don't think people would have much of a problem with him. I really don't. That being said, I like Lee. I like what he brings to the game. Fetch is right. He is playing with more fire now. He's not perfect. He's not the best defenseman to don the jersey nor do I think he will be. But he's a darn better hockey player than many on this board would care to admit.
  11. Some interesting stats for the night: Toews: 2-2-4 Oshie: 1-1-2 Duncan: 1-2-3 Lee: 1-2-3 (not bad for a guy who sucks, no?) Chorney: 1-1-2 Kozek and Zajac had a goal each. Watkins, Porter, Finley, Vandevelde, Fabian, and Bina (who is developing a nice point scoring run, if not a streak) each had an assist apiece. Spreading the scoring around.
  12. Meh, I'm not worked up. I'm just trying to figure out what happened and what this possibly means for tommorrow. Right now the last things the Sioux need are DQ'd players or worse, injuries.
  13. Could the ref have simply sent one more Mav player packing simply because he felt the Mavs started the whole mess?
  14. Sounds to me like the refs let it get out of control again. When a team is lead by a coach that likes to let his players dip "below the belt" a ref HAS to be on top of things. Likewise, the opposing coach has to have a lot of control over his players not to get sucked into the whole fiasco. Hakstol is capable of doing that. We saw it when Bina was cheapshot. I don't think Greene was going to just sit there and let Paukovich play the rest of the game but Hakstol said "Not a chance" and nothing transpired. I wish I could have seen what transpired. Some are saying Lee tried to avoid a fight. Kaip held back apparently. I don't like this much. Tommorrow, something bad could happen. Something VERY bad.

    O Sid

    Sorry 'bout that. Fixed.
  16. Scrolled back through the thread and saw not a whole lot in terms of "the fight." I know Lee and Fabian were DQ'd for tommorrow, but who are the Mavs that will miss the game? What was Walski's or Lammy's or Clark's roles in this whole thing? Did the goaltenders get into it? What went down?
  17. Just wait. The first game where Bo goes pointless, he'll be sent down to Providence.

    O Sid

Sid the IDiot may be a complete tool, but he is something like the third oldest person alive (now that the oldest American has just recently passed away). Sid is a poster child for senility. Even Chad (his son?) pokes fun enough at him on the air. It kinda makes me wonder if someone can be respected and disrespected at the same time? It seems like the people that pay homage to Sid only do so to his face. As for Bettman, mikejm brings up some interesting points, but alas, the NHL has never gotten into fewer homes than it has in the past (before the lockout). Instead of basically bending over the desk to try to change this he simply takes the bigger money (Versus vs. the less lucrative ESPN offer) which would be ok if the NHL were more popular. The NHL isn't the Yankees. The Yankees can have their own channel and it wouldn't hurt viewership. Versus has basically taken NHL out of the homes, regardless of your opinion of the new rules. I don't think the new rules are as bad as some are saying. Sure, there are stupid ones (like the rules governing where a goaltender can handle the puck), but it's not all as bad. As for the expansions ScottM are mentioning, Nashville is doing alright. Columbus and Florida are in trouble. Carolina used to be in Hartford (a place that some argue Carolina should move back to) and Phoenix used to be in Winnipeg. I really think Bettman should facilitate the relocation of at least Florida to a Canadian location (Winnipeg or somewhere) and perhaps even Columbus to a Canadian city as well. Bettman should also drop this crappy scheduling. Instead of playing conference mates 8 times a season, drop it to 6 and get more interconference rivalries to help out. Crosby and Malkin and Ovechkin and the Sabres electrifying game all need to make it west more.
  19. We are racists. Plain and simple. When a minority claims being harmed in some manner, even if iti s a percieved harm, and the majority (or parts of the majority) choose not to believe it or disagree, that makes them racist. EVEN IF THE MAJORITY'S CLAIMS WOULD STAND UP IN COURT. You cannot disagree with a minority on race issues and NOT be considered a racist. That's how it is these days.
  20. Which is why I think that, if the worst possible scenario (nickname change) comes to pass, the pro nickname changers should not get any more influence on the new name than run of the mill alumni and current students. And their objections should be taken with a grain of salt. They wanted the nickname changed and (hypothetically) they got it. That's where their influence ends. That being said, I hope we keep the nickname.
  21. What the media always wants is full disclosure. They want to know EVERYTHING that is going on with anything whether it is a law protected right to know or otherwise. What the media wants from Hakstol is information that he is not required to give: the behind the scenes information about how he runs his team. The media is not a part of the team. The media doesn't hold hire or fire prvileges. THey do not pay Hakstol's paycheck. There is only a percieved right to know and that perception, in this case, is wrong, in Hakstol's opinion apparently. Since the media can't get their way, they write editorials and install critical judgements or nuances on Hakstol. That's how I percieve the media as operating in this case. As for McFeely, he's an idiot. Always has been. I know he criticizes everyone but he goes over the top. That's how he ensures readership.
  22. I'm hoping Forney trusts Hak as well. I'd hate for him to do something rash and transfer or something to that affect. Just because you had a rather lackluster freshman year doesn't mean you are a bust (well...unless you are Grieco...or Finley) and I'd hate to see Forney transfer because of whatever reason.
  23. Ah, that clears things up.... I think.
