You wanted the City of Bismarck to have TWO major facilities for events on their payroll - as in keep the Civic Center also? You are seeing this through a hockey lens, which obviously nobody in Bismarck gives a damn about. FYI, the Wizards were a big success for a long time but got moved because Golden State wanted them closer to home base for call ups. had nothing to do with the organization.

Having the Bismarck Events Center downtown is absolutely ideal. Perfect location for all events, which is why most pro teams have their stadiums downtown, if at all possible.

That cutout is south of Bluemont. It's alot of minorities that are actually being sent to Davies to even the ELL numbers out. But I don't see that being a Davies area much longer.

WF is getting a third HS very soon. That will change alot of things....again.

Alot of truth there. For instance, kids growing up around Phoenix Elementary and such don't get presented with the same opportunities for sports based on their families priorities, history, financials, etc. its too bad really cause these kids don't get to see how good they could be at something or another.

2 out of 3 grand forks teams lose at state hockey. Yah, about that whole tournament being in grand forks isnt an advantage for them.......

Very few FCS teams recruit Michigan that hard. They may dabble but it's pretty under-recruited, actually.

This conversation is peak hockey-guy. Advocating for checking at the 10-12 year old level, like it makes a f-king difference in the long run. Work on creating a free flowing skating type of game vs checking & mukin it up at the squirt level.

So now there is no checking in hockey and no boxing out in basketball. Free flowing, no contact sports I guess - maybe WH had it all figured out?

I tell my kids to "box out" all the time. Find somebody and box them out. I guess I am old.

Interesting. I don't know why they would de-emphasize "over the back". Seems like boxing out is a pretty important staple of the game, still to this day.

The act is going over the back of another player, yes but the actual call isn't termed "over the back". Its a push but the refs make an over the back motion with their arms so fans/coaches can understand what the call was. Splitting hairs.

Let's be honest, we could bring in Geno to coach the program and it wouldn't matter. Until we get a 5K seat arena with a practice facility attached we aren't going to ever finish in Top 2-3 of the Summit. Brew doesn't even stand a chance with this setup.
