How much was it?
-
Name an FCS school that can or will pay two years of a contract to fire a guy? Zero.
-
I have heard the opposite so there's that.
-
They get to their destination in the late afternoon, the day before every game.
-
Who's history?
-
I appreciate the clarification but am still wondering how this works in reality. Seems like Chaves really thought attendance was going to LOW, like historically low.
-
This is even worse. Did Chaves think UND was going to get 2,000 people or what? Tickets were $25 a pop last time, I believe.
-
Explain these donor pledges to me: Are they meant to cover any shortfalls if the revenue from attendance/concessions doesn't meet the NCAA required number? I assume they aren't donated before the game but are pledged for afterwards, correct?
-
Even though we only had ONE chance to have a home playoff game this year - it's OK he lost out to Nicholls State. Let's all move on and keep assuming he is doing an awesome job.

Albany AD: “We felt like if we could make the playoffs, we needed to do whatever we could to reward our team and our fans with a home game,” Benson said. “I thought we put a very strong bid in to host in the first round.” https://www.timesunion.com/sports/article/UAlbany-football-gets-home-game-in-NCAA-playoffs-14859219.php

If Chaves is too incompetent to know that at least one team, Nicholls, bid 80K just last year than we are worse off than I thought.
-
Did Chaves go "toe-to-toe" with the other athletic directors? It's quite apparent that the fans on this board are more than happy with putting in a satisfactory, competitive bid and not going all out to win. There was ONE CHANCE to get a home game this year and he screwed it up. That's undeniable.
-
Obviously the bid wasn't very competitive because we lost. We were competitive out in Idaho State too I guess.
-
You are not addressing the issue. I don't care about the game itself right now. I am pointing out all the factors that seem to be popping up as to why Chaves skimped on his bid and got beat by a regional Southland school. Hockey in Minneapolis seems to be one, which to me, is a major issue if true. And I think it is true.
-
So you are saying that Hockey in Minneapolis was a factor in Chaves hanging the football team out to dry. Because Thanksgiving hasn't changed in hundreds of years so that's the only variable I can spot.
-
Wonder if UND put in a "calculated" lame-ass bid to host the regional at Scheels Arena in Fargo those years?
-
Met him. Doesn't mean he didn't go chicken sh*t on this issue. It was his real first chance to show that something other than hockey matters and he didn't do it. It's the F-CKING PLAYOFFS, a once in every 3-4 year chance to host a game and he didn't go all in in. He put in a calculated bid - that's not doing whatever it takes to support the program. So now they need to fly to Timbuktu and dress in tents.
-
I would love for the AD to underbid a hockey event and lose. Wouldn't ever happen but it would be interesting to see the reaction. Great way to help build the football program - they make the playoffs and then proceed to lose a home bid to a regional Southland school. Really got all hands on deck!
-
So is Nicholls "authorized" to come in higher than 50K by their University? Where did that stupid number come from?
-
First off, eat a fat bag. 2nd, he knows what bids go for and have gone for in the past and still came in under.
-
Chaves should be embarrassed and reprimanded for such a pathetic bid. 75K.....WTF?
-
Saw this on twitter. Would be great if Siouxsports members rallied behind this and really upped their donations this year!
