Vote on your final 5 nickname choices (just ND is out)
fight on sioux replied to jimdahl's topic in UND Nickname
I am picking NoDaks in the hope we can add "Fighting" before it to make it flow better with "University of North Dakota." This is the choice that does the best job of honoring the past (Fighting Sioux) while representing the current and the future. Whether we are Sioux, Ojibwe, Arikira, European, African, etc... we are all NoDaks if we support University of North Dakota Athletics. I don't think the name brings along a negative connotation and there can be creative logo possibilities created in conjunction with the interlocking "ND." In reality, they will always be the Fighting Sioux to me. It was engrained in me since I was very young. But if I must choose, I will pick the name that best represents who we are and also pays respect to the past. NoDaks is the only clear cut choice in that regard. -

Ralph Engelstad Arena has plethora of historic and autographed Fighting Sioux jerseys that will be auctioned off. First two up are an authentic replica autographed Matt Greene jersey and a 1956-1957 Bill Reichart replica jersey. Good luck everyone! http://www.theralph.com/auction

yeah, it looks uniform with all of the Brien logos... It would be cool to see that, however it might look a little hodge podge with all different logos. They did that at the Betty and it doesn't look very good...

Brendan O'Donnell will be playing with the Moose as well... -
Good call. I like it.
-
All the other banners have the Ben Brien artwork and they will stay that way I'm guessing. The new ones however will have the logo associated with whatever official logo is being used.
-
They are raising the banner pre-game Saturday. It will say University of North Dakota. NCHC Champions. Interlocking "ND" logo.
-
The reason you see this is because the students have seen the drawn up hawk logo with the feathers and think that will be the logo. Unfortunatley, that logo belongs to the Chicago Blackhawks and won't be the logo. I, definitely don't want to be another team to transition to a hawk... so unoriginal.

Glad we have the Fargo/Bison editorial board telling long standing Sioux fans along with a group of actual Sioux people what's good for them... Their words don't mean a thing to the proud Sioux fans and Sioux people. -

Hi All, I have some interest in creating a book about the history of the buildings UND hockey has played in over the years. The book would mainly be a photo book but would tell the story of each building and the teams and fans that accompanied them. I am asking for feedback regarding what the demand may be for a book like this. I figured coming to the site where the die hards gather would be a great place start. I am asking feedback for the following questions: 1.) Would you purchase a book like this? Why or why not? 2.) Would you rather a book like this be hard cover or soft cover? 3.) Considering this book would consist of high-quality, behind the scenes photos of the current REA and it's evolution, historical photos of Old REA, and historical photos of the Winter Sports Building, what would you be willing to pay for this book if you were to consider purchasing? 4.) Where would you keep a book like this? In your living room? In a bookcase? At your office? 5.) How big of fan of UND hockey are you? a.) The BIGGEST Sioux fan out there. b.) The Sioux are my favorite team to follow. c.) I follow the Sioux, but don't mind missing a game. d.) I go to an occasional game and keep up with how the team is doing. Thank you for your help!

I talked to Aaron at the Frozen Four in Boston. He said that he definitely regrets leaving North Dakota early... Would stay if he could do it all over again.

I'm looking to put together a photo project containing the top ten moments in Sioux history since our last championships in 2000. If you have a moment that you could share it would be much appreciated! Here is a list of things that I think could make the top ten. 1. 2012 Final Five comeback vs. UM 2. 2007 West Regional Porter goal 3. 2008 MidWest Regional Kozek goal 4. 2014 Midwest Regional Gaarder goal 5. 2011 Frattin double OT final five title Please add to the list!!!
