  1. Down 4-1 to DU in Magness and coming back to win 7-5 was digging pretty deep.
  2. Did it against Miami. Did it, in large part against Western. Not much the other games down the stretch. The sweep against DU when we held them to 2 goals each night when they hadn't been held under three all season was my favorite weekend. I saw it in stretches on Friday against Omaha, but it seemed like every time we lost a puck battle, it was in the back of the net. So frustrating. Obviously they feel the same way about it.
  3. Disagree with the first bolded. 1 team wins a title each season. Are you willing to propose a reason as to why it happens or why you feel that way that it happens more often to some (I'm assuming you mean to UND). I agree with you that I think we've played worse defensively over the past month or so. I'm also confident that they will get back to that level on Friday. They were last there in the first round of the NCHC playoffs against Miami. It's not like it's been forever. My overall point to this run of conversation, it's not a lack of motivation. It's all about getting to our game and getting it done. The players do this. There's no doubt that they know what to do and how to do it. Just need to execute. And if it doesn't happen, blaming Bubs makes no sense to me. He's made adjustments. He did it in game against Omaha by bringing Johannes to the top line and you saw they play better in the third.
  4. I watch this when I'm having a bad day:
  5. Nope. It was because they weren't motivated!
  6. Yeah, that's dumb logic. But, I understand your game. All good, dude.
  7. Felt like this kid was gonna be a star in his freshman year. I'm not upset he's gone, but he never really turned into the threat I thought he would.
  8. Question for you... was Minnesota not motivated when they lost to Quinny in OT last year? Was Miami not motivated when BU came back late from down two and won in OT in 2009? Was UND not motivated when we lost to Michigan in St. Paul in 2011?
  9. Do we struggle the same way every year? I already addressed this. We haven't won a title since 2016. I get that. I'm saying the reason is not some mythical belief that the boys have to have that is blessed upon them by Bubs. The boys have the motivation. We've lost for one reason... It's hockey. It's a bounce game in a one-and-done scenario. Us losing in 5OTs to Duluth is not an indication of a lack of motivation. Losing to BU in OT on a play they literally made a rule about the next season is not an indication of a lack of motivation. Losing to Notre Dame, again in OT, is not an indication of a lack of motivation.... it's just frickin' hockey.
  10. Hahaha the '72 Soviets. I think UNO matches up well with us. We didn't play well enough. It wasn't because Bubs didn't have them mentally ready to win the game. We just didn't get it done. That's hockey.
  11. Nope. No, don't try and spin this. This is my entire point. All this belly aching out here, but no solutions. We're talking about pixie dust, magic spells, etc.... motivation. Our boys play at UND. They understand our history. They understand our standards. They absolutely want to win. Sometimes hockey happens and the other team plays better. It really is that simple.
  12. I think they came out really well on Friday, yes. And then what happened?? *GASP* The OTHER TEAM played better.
  13. Checklist for UND to win this weekend: 1) Bubs needs to yell and scream so the players are so scared of him that it motivates them somehow 2) Just do it. Go out and just win. Go. Get out there. Win the game because I said so.
  14. I think it's nonsense to think the players aren't motivated. It's not a magic potion. You don't just drink something, hear a coach say a magic word, watch a video of something inspiring and boom, go win a national championship. Some times one team just plays better than the other.
  15. I think it's hilarious that you think Bubs just avoids trying to motivate his team. It's just dumb.
  16. Go hug your picture of Sandy sitting on your night stand.
  17. HE'S BEEN GONE FOR 20 YEARS.... MOVE. ON.
  18. I agree with this in general, but the boys on the team understand the community, understand the fanbase, history, etc. It's always spoken, and it's written on the walls. Bubs not yelling at them is not the reason they didn't beat Omaha on Friday.
  19. Yeah, ZERO coaches do that now. None. Zero. Zilch. Mike Babcock is on line two for you.
  20. What don't you understand? You said the coach should yell at them and break their sticks. You suggest that's how this team would win more playoff games. Is that your approach?
  21. Tell me. How are you "fixing the team" this year? How are you "fixing the program overall"? Would love the insight.
  22. Buddy, I think it's fine if you think that's how a coach should do things now, but it's just not like that anymore. It's been 20 years. Time to adapt.
