Bringing in Laurila, we'd need to be careful. We HAVE TO be sure we have guys who are gonna be out for a bit because frankly, it would be a disaster to have him come in and sit the bench because people healed up. Plus, that's a very awkward conversation with Fargo, who's rapidly becoming a the best team in the USHL and a pipeline that we MUST keep open, that we're going to take your best player. I'm thinking Matt Cullen's son....

Absolutely untrue, but I think some would say this about me lol. I'll be critical when it warrants it. A 3-2 start against three ranked teams, one being No. 3 in the country, I'm not upset about it.

LOL based on this conversation, I think some think so. If you would have told me we'd be 3-2 going into the Cornell series when this schedule first came out with Providence, Mankato, and BU to start, I think I'd be happy with that. Not perfectly happy, but certainly not mad about it.

Maybe a little quick analysis on this one might clear things up. In the past five seasons combined in the first five regular season games, UND is 15-8-3 and in the first 10, they are 25-11-4. 24-25 -- 3-2 in first 5 23-24 -- 4-1, 7-2-1 in first 10 22-23 -- 2-2-1, 4-4-2 21-22 -- 3-2, 7-3 20-21 - 3-1-1, 7-2-1 I think UND has performed just fine to start seasons recently. This conversation feels largely due to our poor performance against Auggie this year. Just my opinion.

Why? I feel like the better goalie should play. Are we developing goalies differently than any other program in the NCAA? I don't really get why it's a big deal to get a good goalie every season. If Hobie earns his ice, he should play.

I've seen a few games with Wilkie at RIT and the brand of hockey they play, I'm confident he'll play a physical role. Scoring the NCHC is obviously different, but we'll see. Johannes contributed well in this area and I think they have similar games. I think our scoring will be from our depth. Our third and fourth liners will put up points this year against other team's third and fourth liners. So, we are much less likely to see our top line score lines score like the did the past two season with guys like Gaber and Blake, but we're more likely to see that scoring be balanced. With that said, we did return 83 goals this year which I think I saw is like 6th best in the nation, so that's pretty darn good.

You think so? I was actually incredibly encouraged in this area after our last game. I think we are much less of a finesse team than we have been the past. Strinden, Croal, Jammer, Kunz, Schmaltz, James, Wilkie all bring a lot of size and energy and on the back end, guys like Z, MacDonald, Wiebe, all play that role, too. I think we are much deeper physically then we have been in a long while.

Good to know. Hopefully it's a watchable stream lol. We're spoiled
