Why are we playing a DIII school. Thought they were at least a DII and that is bad enough. Time to rest anybody with an injury for this game. Thought I saw Anderson limping at the end of the K-state game and Schuler appeared to have one of his calf muscles taped.

I was thinking the same thing. Benton is a big unknown and his high school stats where not impressive at all. Hope he develops and contributes down the road but I for one like our 4 guards ( Webb, Anderson, Schuler, Antwi) and would hate to see anyone of them loose minutes. They have the experience and each one has shown to be very explosive if given the chance. If Nash is ineligible I think Benton may take a few minutes in the 3 spot but then again I like it when Schuler plays the 3 also in a backup role. He makes very few mistakes and seems to make the right pass and takes only good shots. Salmonson is tall but again his numbers were not that impressive in college of high school. A lot of hype from the new players but if Nash is ineligible I believe Traylor will be the biggest impact. As green team mentioned above not counting this Wednesday but the games following will show us a lot.

No doubt the guys we need with the ball at the end of the games we are leading is Anderson and Schuler. They have proven to be the ones that consistantly make the free throws for us.

I hope you are wrong but this being the 3rd year for our core players I'm becoming concerned after watching last nights game. Anderson is not going to get the flops when he drives and throws the ball up like in the great west. He falls without being touched and thinks he should get the call. Like i've always said a player needs to know what he can make and what he shouldn't shoot. This is as much fault on the coaches since they still do it. Only a few players played as a team and you see what happens. So much one on one. The shooting will come. We have the players that can knock down the shots and I believe last night was just one of those nights, maybe first game chitters against the strongest team we will face all year. One more thing, our motion offense compared to K-state makes ours look motionless. Too many of our players still just standing in one place while 1 or 2 are moving while K-states players are all moving and setting screens all over the place by all the players. Next game wont show us anything but after that lets see the improvement and make the progress thats needed. We need a good road win.

Shooting was so bad. Anderson 1-12, Webb 1-4 and Huff was 4-15. You would think by now we would not take so many bad shots, but then again we did. Hopefully and I mean hopefully we learn from this. I think Traylor is going to be good.

Agree tough calls against us. Allard is playing hard but can someone explain to me why he ever shoots a 3. He is like 18 percent for his career. One airball already tonight.

That starting lineup would shock everyone including the coaches if that were true. Wonder where they got that information.

As mentiioned above it will be on Direct TV on channel 671 beginning at 8 central. I will be watching. Go Sioux

Just read on espn ncaa is adopting new rule effective immediately that ailing family member must be within 100 miles to play immediately. Not sounding good for nash.

No doubt the non league games will be brutal and the grind of the Big Sky with a quality opponent almost every game will be a test. Every UND team has struglled in the Big Sky this first year. I agree next year will be our best chance to go really far but I'm still very hopefull this team comes together this year and makes some serious noise and a solid run in the tournament. This now junior class has shown its playing their best at tournament time.

A video scoreboard would be awesome hanging down over center court. I hate having to look at either end of the court and try to figure out the scoring, fouls, timeouts, etc. Its impossible to read and the worst I have ever seen in a basketball arena.

I was wondering the same thing. We are only 2 weeks away from the first game and still no answer. Seems like the NC$$ is cutting it close for some reason.
-
I definately have to agree with you on this one. Good post.

No way Benton cracks the starting line-up. He definately will not beat out Huff at the 3 nor will he challenge Webb or Anderson. At best if he plays the guard position he will be behind Schuler and Antwi. We are so solid at the guard position with talent and experience in Webb, Anderson, Schuler and Antwi. They all bring something a little different. My only concern at the off guard position is Anderson's size. With 20 league games in the Big Sky Anderson will be so undersized at the 2 position on defense and can easily be exploited. We may have to up the size in that position with Schuler or Antwi and go away from 2 starting point guards.

It won't take long into the season to see how things may shape up and who will be doing what. Six of our first seven games are against extremely good competition that will test us immediately. At Kansas State, at UNI, at NDSU, at Hawaii and then home against SDSU and UMKC. That is a brutal start in my opionion. Having said this, even if we dont come out of these games at .500 or better it will better prepare us for the Big Sky schedule and that is truly all that matters. I totally agree we have the talent and the experience now, but do we have the committment to play as a team. I still believe we have lacked this in the past. The depth this year will definately help improve this cause we will have a solid backup at every position. Returning 5 of our top 6 scorers in Webb, Anderson, Huff, Brekke and Schuler is once again a huge plus and all being juniors. This year we are top half of the Big Sky but next year we should be at the top with this class being all seniors and the additions of the other players. Go Sioux

According to the roster from last year Allard, Schuler and Huff all grew exactly 1 inch. Everyone else shows the same. Interesting!
-
I would say Traylor will get the final starting nod. Allard is a good backup/role player but has shown very little in his 3 years he's been playing that he could be an every game starter. I like the size of Traylor and what he can add for us underneath. Someone has to pick up the three point threat for us with Traylor starting cause from his JC stats he does not shoot the 3. I agree this group of guys could be very interesting to watch. Hopefully the experience we bring will start to show. With 5 of our top 6 scoreres returning and all 5 of them being juniors that have played the most minutes since they stepped on campus and the additions of the big guys it should be fun.

Seen him dunk many times in warm ups prior to the games. Chemistry is important so I hope the players do bond this year.

NCAA passed a new law where coaches can work with the players during the summer as long as the players are enrolled in a class. I think all the players are taking a class this summer and practicing in some sort of a way several hours a day.
-
over 40% three point shooter Webb under 50 steals under 1 game played in Ralph Brekke over 8 ppg over 3 players average 10 pts over attendance of 1800
-
over under - due to the fact its played on a Sunday. A saturday game I would have said over. under - based on the new guys we brought in they are worse than what we have. Over is Anderson and Schuler shoot most of the free throws.
-
under on both over .500
-
We will have 3 scholarship seniors this year in Wilmer, Archer and Allard. So if nothing else changes we will have 3 to offer after this coming year.

Why are we playing a DIII school (Crown College) after our season begins? Dont think this game will prepare us for anything.. Heard our first game is Nov. 9 at Kansas State and then a DIII school ??
