  1. My wife and I are usually the 2 adults in those theaters without a kid, Moana was good if you haven't seen it yet
  2. That's a pretty big generalization, I don't think the Miami poster on here MACtion would agree. I'd be curious to hear what the WMU user BroncoHeard thinks.
  3. You don't think he'll want to be the 1st goalie to be a 3x national title winner?
  4. I chuckled at both of these and will now incorporate them into my gameday rituals.
  5. Either UND, UMD, PSU, Denver, Harvard, Union, BU, Mass Lowell, Ohio State, WMU, Minnesota, BC, ND, Cornell, SLU, Vermont, SCSU, BSU, QU, or UNO will win the title this year... book it
  6. Who needs defense? Oh wait, maybe UNO in the 2nd half of last year...
  7. Yeah methinks regardless of what CBS thinks, Miami and WMU aren't getting out of the nchc sans $1.5mil fee without the member schools' blessing.
  8. Why would it matter what CBS sports says? I'd think the 8 member schools would have to OK waiving any exit fee so not sure what say CBS would have.
  9. While I agree with that 1st part I have absolutely no idea what you are saying in the 2nd part.
  10. Maybe there's a $1.5 Million bonus for joining the new CCHA?
  11. According to Hennessy though, he thinks Brock playing vs Omaha is very possible and that would put him at 3 weeks out from last week. Either way, my thoughts are if we get Boeser and Jost back at 100% by the Miami series at home I'll be happy.
  12. Don't trust anything that comes out of Fargo
  13. Hennessy has a podcast up with Pat Swanson that provides some interesting behind the scenes hockey operations stuff, however the beginning is what got my attention. According to Hennessey, he talked to USA's WJC Dr(I think that's who he said) and said we might expect Brock to play vs. Omaha... obviously not a sure thing but sure would be great to get him back in the earlier part of January as opposed to the later. Here's the link: http://kfgo.com/podcasts/fighting-hawks-podcast/941/hennessy-on-hockey-12-20-16-with-pat-swanson/
  14. Had a buddy with money on Iowa -11 and he just about had a heart attack at the end of the game. That's what he gets though for betting against UND
  15. So Fran admits he's done it before and he was wrong and texted to apologize to Jones? Sounds like the guy doesn't learn... Also, there was fault on UND's end too but from players is different, if you're a coach don't walk off the floor like a baby.
  16. That looked like a charge to me but yes, put him on the line!
  17. CC doesn't have an attendance problem, but the atmosphere inside the Broadmoor is pretty dull because there's only a few dozen students in attendance most games. It's kind of like the difference between Christmas Break games at The Ralph and games where students are on campus. Except every game(maybe save the DU series) is like that. It's pretty remarkable that CC draws as well as they do despite the small student population and terrible teams(lately at least). However, I do think CU-Boulder would have a more rambunctious atmosphere given the amount of students that go to the school.
  18. That's good to know about those arenas, agreed 5,000 is about perfect for most. And yeah the ASU entrance is not a blueprint I would use for many other schools. You'd definitely have more students in attendance but how long will that take to happen? Boulder is limited on land available for development and it comes at a premium. Sure it's ideal to be on campus if you have $70-100 million from a donor, but seeing as how they probably don't I'd rather have a nice arena 10 miles away and start a program in 3 years. Then you can figure out on-campus options when the funding is available as opposed to waiting for the next Terry Pegula to show up excited about Buffs Hockey. Plus, as you mentioned, the differences between a small 2,000 student private liberal college and a massive 35,000 university that loves their Buffs will be noticeable when it comes to attendance at games.
  19. Yeah those are going to be expensive lower bowls, especially since they'll probably be coming in with a top 5 ranking w/ a lot of pairwise/nchc implications on the line and students being back. My rough estimate once it gets closer is $70 for lowers and $50 for uppers. I'll be down in your neck of the woods the following weekend for the CC series and those tickets are much cheaper! I'll be sure to remember you though if I hear of any upper or lower bowls for sale!
  20. Good info, I don't think any of these options are walking distance(maybe TCC but that's even a stretch) for students but a few could still be good options with transportation.
  21. I mean it's not perfect for students and you'd probably need a shuttle service but like I said, CC's rink is just as prohibitive to get to and has about 30,000 less students enrolled than UC-Boulder. Maybe long-term(10-15 yrs) you could plan to get a campus arena but I don't think any visiting team would have an issue going to play at 1stBank Center in Broomfield, it's a nice arena that was built in 2006. Here's a picture of it:
  22. Tomek played a game and judging by the article played pretty well, despite losing 4-3. Sounds like Matej may be in line to be the #1 goaltender for the Slovaks, this would be great for his confidence and growth! http://www.standard-freeholder.com/2016/12/19/big-crowd-at-complex-for-swedes-vs-slovaks
  23. Absolutely, 4 Colorado teams and an AZ team would probably look pretty enticing for a school like UNLV with the NHL team coming to town as well.
  24. All of these things combined would make you believe start-up costs could be significantly less than say a PSU or ASU who didn't have a feasible rink solution. It'll still take some money but nearly as much as constructing a rink in a place like Boulder, which is about as expensive a place for real estate as any outside a few major cities.
