  1. That looked like a charge to me but yes, put him on the line!
  2. CC doesn't have an attendance problem, but the atmosphere inside the Broadmoor is pretty dull because there's only a few dozen students in attendance most games. It's kind of like the difference between Christmas Break games at The Ralph and games where students are on campus. Except every game(maybe save the DU series) is like that. It's pretty remarkable that CC draws as well as they do despite the small student population and terrible teams(lately at least). However, I do think CU-Boulder would have a more rambunctious atmosphere given the amount of students that go to the school.
  3. That's good to know about those arenas, agreed 5,000 is about perfect for most. And yeah the ASU entrance is not a blueprint I would use for many other schools. You'd definitely have more students in attendance but how long will that take to happen? Boulder is limited on land available for development and it comes at a premium. Sure it's ideal to be on campus if you have $70-100 million from a donor, but seeing as how they probably don't I'd rather have a nice arena 10 miles away and start a program in 3 years. Then you can figure out on-campus options when the funding is available as opposed to waiting for the next Terry Pegula to show up excited about Buffs Hockey. Plus, as you mentioned, the differences between a small 2,000 student private liberal college and a massive 35,000 university that loves their Buffs will be noticeable when it comes to attendance at games.
  4. Yeah those are going to be expensive lower bowls, especially since they'll probably be coming in with a top 5 ranking w/ a lot of pairwise/nchc implications on the line and students being back. My rough estimate once it gets closer is $70 for lowers and $50 for uppers. I'll be down in your neck of the woods the following weekend for the CC series and those tickets are much cheaper! I'll be sure to remember you though if I hear of any upper or lower bowls for sale!
  5. Good info, I don't think any of these options are walking distance(maybe TCC but that's even a stretch) for students but a few could still be good options with transportation.
  6. I mean it's not perfect for students and you'd probably need a shuttle service but like I said, CC's rink is just as prohibitive to get to and has about 30,000 less students enrolled than UC-Boulder. Maybe long-term(10-15 yrs) you could plan to get a campus arena but I don't think any visiting team would have an issue going to play at 1stBank Center in Broomfield, it's a nice arena that was built in 2006. Here's a picture of it:
  7. Tomek played a game and judging by the article played pretty well, despite losing 4-3. Sounds like Matej may be in line to be the #1 goaltender for the Slovaks, this would be great for his confidence and growth! http://www.standard-freeholder.com/2016/12/19/big-crowd-at-complex-for-swedes-vs-slovaks
  8. Absolutely, 4 Colorado teams and an AZ team would probably look pretty enticing for a school like UNLV with the NHL team coming to town as well.
  9. All of these things combined would make you believe start-up costs could be significantly less than say a PSU or ASU who didn't have a feasible rink solution. It'll still take some money but nearly as much as constructing a rink in a place like Boulder, which is about as expensive a place for real estate as any outside a few major cities.
  10. Good call, went to a concert there about 5-6 years ago. Holds about 6,500 people which is probably about the right size for a university that has 30-35k students but just getting into hockey. And it's about 15 minutes from campus which is not much further than say CC campus is from its arena. Welp, time to start up the program!
  11. I think it's odd but ok in high school, college not so much. Looking at you 2011 UMD Bulldogs...
  12. Hi there, big Union fan here since 2014. I've probably never cheered for another program to win a national championship as hard as in 2014. Also, Ghostisbehere was a blast to watch and still is playing for Hakstol in Philly. That team was ferocious on the puck and absolutely took it to Minnesota, so much fun to watch. We will forever be in your debt for this... Cheers!
  13. SS melts down for plenty of others things so just add it to the list
  14. Just make sure you stay out of my way next year or I'm hitting into you!
  15. Pretty sure SS sent my reebok authentic to EPS because it took like 6 weeks to get back, but it was well worth the wait.
  16. Going off on a tangent a bit, but so far this year there has definitely been a lack of blocked shots by our 'role players'. I'm hearing about Jost and Boeser getting hurt blocking shots, I remember Poolman getting hurt by a blocked shot in NY but overall our team seems to be lacking in this area. We're being consistently beat in blocked shots this year and I think this needs to change once we get into the Omaha's, Duluth, St Cloud's in the 2nd half.
  17. Toronto is about a 5 hour drive from Union College and Montreal a 3 hr... just sayin
  18. I actually thought we could have score more on Friday and we didn't even have Boeser. Friday was not a fluke, this team can play... when they put their minds to it. That last part has been the problem lately.
  19. I tried to listen to their podcast a few weeks back but when they kept joking about the number 69 and laughing at the joke I couldn't handle anymore. There's a reason they are employed in print and not on radio or tv where they don't have the benefit of editors & revisions to make them appear more refined and succint.
  20. It can be if we get back to playing top 10 hockey, which is about what is required to make the tournament. In other words, if we make the tournament we will be playing well enough that a rabid crowd such as one that will exist in Fargo WOULD be a huge difference. If we go the equivalent 1-3-2 in our remaining home games there won't be a team to cheer on in Fargo and/or Chicago.
  21. Yup, it does feel more like 14-15 then last year to me too. 'Just get in the tourney' is my mantra for this season. Then playing the rest of the tournament in Fargo and Chicago with our great fanbase could put us over the top.
  22. Except the top line hadn't been producing which was a main reason for bringing Pogo to the 1st line and sending Boser to the 2nd line. As someone had said, there's two puck controlling high end talents and only one puck.
  23. There was a quote from Berry that said something to the effect of he looks forward to seeing Boeser back fully healthy in January... and of course now I can't find the article.
