If we're going to rail on exhibition losses let's talk about why Hak didn't have the 2013-14 team ready for a couple of them where we narrowly beat Simon Fraser and LOST(gasp) to the University of British Columbia. We also lost to St Lawrence that year and started the season 4-7-2. I'm not going to look back but I'm sure everyone and their brother jumped off the bandwagon that year calling for Hak's head. Then they went to the Frozen Four. Feels like there's a lesson in there somewhere if you look hard enough.

Some of you didn't attend(or haven't been fans long enough) to remember games in Hak's tenure where the team was hungover from a Friday night bender at Gilly's and it shows. And Oshie, despite having to be carried out of the bar the prior night, has to put the team on his back. For how much love Hak gets around here, we should start hanging Regional Final Champion banners. (And I'm a huge Hak fan but make it make sense)

And if I were comparing the 2 that would be a point well taken. Wilkie isn't winning any awards either.

OMac has been a turnover machine this year, his flaws have really magnified without Blake taking 95% of defenders attention on his line. He has a ton of talent(See goal vs Bemidji) but doesn’t feel like he’s figured out how to play responsible 2 way hockey the way Berry would like him to.

UND could have won it 4 or 5 time in the 3rd period tbh Puck luck aside I love what I saw this weekend. SCSU was completely gassed by the end of tonight and were hanging on for dear life while UND came in waves. This team while inconsistent at times with freshmen mistakes is resilient and played a hard defensive game against a top 10 team and looked like the better team for most of the series. I just pray there's enough runway for this team to grow into their potential and show what they can do in the NCAAs.

Minnesota was flat out better than us that year, remember not even being mad after they got knocked out(only time in my 37 years of watching UND). That team got every ounce of talent out of their group and made some incredible memories along the way. I remember they wore the 'North Dakota' jersey for the first time at that regional vs WMU and the Gophers and thinking that was the reason we didn't get to the Frozen Four, they took away our logo.

11-12? Believe they had 17 skaters for most of the stretch run including winning the final five. Beat in the regional final at the X by the gophers

What are you talking about? I didn't once refer to UND in relation to this, I'm TRYING to have a conversation about SCSU's analytics. In fact, I specifically said I'm not comparing our team to SCSU. I'm simply commenting on how instrumental their goaltender has been to their national ranking. Boy, it's exhausting trying to get through a conversation about hockey analytics for a completely different team only to be brought back to the fact that we've started the season poorly. You're not breaking any news there.

I'm not comparing our defense to theirs, I'm just saying they wouldn't be in the position they are with a goalie not saving 93.8% of their shots. I guess I don't have any data on the quality of the shots they're allowing vs ours but that would be cool to see.

If they continue only scoring 2.47 goals a game, yes they will need his .938 save %. They’ve won 6 games by 1 goal this year. Drop that save % to .900 and they aren’t 8th in the pairwise, probably closer to us.

Could part of that be attributed to the fact that he's not a natural defenseman so playing in those positions doesn't come as naturally as guys have been doing it at a high level for many years? Give me a split with SCSU next weekend and get healthy for the 2nd half and I'll be happy with our chances to make a run. This team doesn't suck, they have shown what they can do vs BU and Providence with all cylinders firing. The problem is they are a bit immature in my opinion and having your 5th year captain and 1C out along with a couple of critical Dmen for PKs has really got them reeling.
