Yup, Jost would've probably got the C(or at least an A) and he'd be guaranteed to leave after 2 years -

Some people are able to alternate between the two, especially when the windshield will be pretty damn boring for the next 6 months- 24 replies

I pass the blame to Stoney, I was going off his 8-2 prediction -

I think he was actually hurting recruiting at this point because no one knew how long they'd be playing for him and who would be replacing him. It'll be good(for Michigan at least) to get the new face of the program in place. -
I think the more impressive feat is WWPKD2 only getting 1 game in the whole tournament correct!

President Kennedy Message on Athletics
InHeavenThereIsNoBeer replied to fightingsioux4life's topic in Other Sports
He talks about enrollment not growing as if those numbers are in a vacuum and the only variable affecting them is how many people the sports team attracts. It's much too simplistic as there are numerous variables economically, geographically, etc. that play into how many students enroll at a University each year. It's a lazy argument to say 'Enrollment went up 25 students after championships so sports teams didn't attract anyone DERP' Also, he completely leaves out the indirect contributions from alumni and fans that aren't accounted for that would show sports like UND hockey as making money. Those contributions go away without the passionate ties that collegiate athletics provide.- 2,150 replies

I would guess it is effective as of fiscal year end for UND. Not sure if it's the case for UND, but for many colleges that means June 30th.

IMO this is the biggest obstacle between DU and a title... they're that good

I'd specify which part of the season or they might just play better in November and take March/April off

This is why I love the Tampa FF so much. The city really embraces and advertises the Frozen Four week. It feels like it's a big deal to them where as in a place like Chicago it seems to get lost in the shuffle as just another hockey tournament. -

I didn't mean Poganski was on the level of those guys but he's very much a possession player as you said that we don't have any next year. Pogo was straight-up dominant along the boards this past year when it came to possession. If he comes back(sounds like he is), I look forward to the strides he can make in the point production area of the game. -
Seriously though, are we at risk of losing Mismash for WJC and a month for the Olympics? Or do people think this will be made up mostly of AHL players? This could seriously affect college teams during their stretch run in February.

https://www.nhl.com/avalanche/news/tyson-jost-excited-to-join-colorado-avalanche/c-288261146 Maybe I'm being too presumptuous but reading this article, I really believe Tyson will regret leaving UND so early. It feels like a hastily made decision with good intentions but I can't help but remember former NHLers saying 'Man I wish I would've stayed another year'. Tyson barely got to even take it all in. An excerpt: "A lot went through my head, but then when that contract was in front of me, I thought, 'Yeah, this is my dream, and this is what I've wanted all my life. I've worked for almost 18 years to get to this point.' So I thought I'd sign," Jost admitted. "It was a wave of emotions. Obviously, it was a dream come true to sign my contract and be with this organization. It happened in a pretty quick span of time there. Things went pretty quick. I didn't really get to enjoy it just because it was kind of a rough process but to say the least, I'm really excited to be a part of this organization." There's no doubt in my mind Jost will have an incredibly successful career at the pro level and I'm very happy he came to UND but 3...5...maybe 10 years down the line I gotta believe he's gonna wish he stuck around a little longer. EDIT: Also, this is an unnerving part of the article: He could have stayed in Grand Forks, working on his education and chasing the dream again next season, but watching a teammate like Brock Boeser leave for the NHL and linemates Shane Gersich and Austin Poganski enter talks of making the leap reignited his deep-seated desire to join the ranks of the top tier of the sport.
