  1. I voted for Hull because I'm a UMD guy, but Boucher's accomplishment was really impressive as well! As for the Wild's All-Star selections, I think they got a bit of a "home team" advantage.
  2. Some referees are looking for possesion, others just look for the touch. The league needs to call a meeting and get them all on the same page about that.
  3. Did they ever figure out why there was a huge hole in the ice, and why the officials missed it in their pre-game inspection? If the hole was as big as some were saying in the friday game thread, then you would think someone would have noticed it before most of the first period had gone by, with the risk to player injury and such.
  4. Right you are!! Didn't get to see that goon at all this weekend.
  5. Move over roommates!! We're moving into the penthouse with ya!!
  6. The Dogs brutally outshot MTU. Tech could only put pressure on the Dogs during the PP. Lots of running the goaltender in the Saturday game. Even Tech's captain got a charging the goaltender penalty. Also a 5 min major for boarding late in the third. The lone goal for Tech friday was on a 5X3 that was handed to them.
  7. Nevermind these posts! I'm going to both games now!! HAHAAA!!!!!!!!!
  8. I think there is more conference spirit in college hockey, than pro sports. Not too many people are saying, "Well Tampa Bay is out, but Carolina is still going, and they're in our division!! Whoopee!!". In 2001, when UMD went up to Grand Forks for the WCHA first round as a ten seed, beat them in game one, and lead 2-0 midway through the second, I was having dreams of the Dogs being the first ten seed to win a first round series. The dream was crushed, as the Sioux went on to win 6-2, and 4-0 the following night (UMD's last shutout loss, currently 107 games w/o being shutout). I went down to the Final Five, and found myself cheering a frantic Sioux rally in the third period. I'm sure you remember being down 5-2 with 10 minutes remaining and tying w/ under a minute left, only to lose in OT. It was odd leaving after a Sioux loss and actually feeling some disappointment. I cheered the Sioux in 2000 in the NC game, but this experience made me into a Sioux hockey fan (as long as UMD is not involved in the game!).
  9. Hauser just couldn't seem to seal off the pipe fast enough. I could not believe he let in two of the same type of goals in back-to-back games. He seemed to very frustrated after Maine took the lead late in the third in the NC game. He must have known that it was the exact same goal that let Michigan nearly come back from 3-0 to tie.
  10. I must amend this posting!! Seeing as how I have yet to see a Dogs game live this year, I have decided to drive to Duluth for the Friday night game. I will be online Saturday night during the game though.
  11. DeMarchi??
  12. I will be online this weekend, and posting/surfing furiously!! This should be the beginning of an exciting stretch run in the WCHA!!
  13. Sounds like it's time for big bro to step in and guide little bro to his destiny at UMD!!
  14. You forgot about the glove save vs. Michigan?? That was a classic, and turned out to be a game saving save!!
  15. we are hooked because KRACH is a much better system!
  16. It's not midwesterners who say it....it is the idiots.
  17. I think they meant hot dogs!!!
  18. Agent 86??!! NO? Darn...Missed it by THAT much! We had Adam for the series against CC at the DECC. About 15 penalties per game, and they were evenly distributed. Perhaps drawing Adam is not such a bad thing after all.
  19. It does not seem like the Goofs have been doing a very great job defending their title thus far this season.
  20. From a league whose officials blow the whistle the second a helmet comes loose, you would think the emphasis on safety would translate into less stickwork, holding, and crosschecking (especially from behind). If the league is going to put it's emphasis on safety rather than smooth flowing games (helmet rule), then they need to be consistent in their implementation and enforcement of ALL rules concerning player safety, not just helmets.
  21. As long as the don't light the cows on fire after they tip them!!
  22. Yeah. Reich started the Friday game at Houghton, and got shelled for 4 first period goals. After that Josh Johnson game up 2 goals in the third Friday, and shut Tech out Saturday. The only reason Sandy may play Reich, is the importence of a sweep this weekend to keep pace with the Sioux, UW, and SCSU.
  23. Same deal, I guess, for me. I never really liked the Sioux much, but after meeting some great fans at the WCHA tourney over the years, I can honestly say they are my #3 favorite team in college hockey. UMD and UM being 1 and 2. I'd say it should be at least an even spilt between East schools getting the tourney, and West schools.
  24. I live in Northern SLP now, near the 169/394 interchange. The name Obbarius rings a bell, but only faintly. I graduated from SLP in 1999, and was at most of those section games. The 8-5 section final in 98 when SLP won was one of my favorites. Yes, Section 5A is the toughest section of any. It looks like it will be that way again this year. BSM looks to have another strong team at 8-3-1, and SLP as well at 11-4-0. Now that we have gotten completely off-topic...
