Dogs lead Denver 1-0. 17 mins left, 3rd period. Lessard has only goal.

UAA played pretty tough at SCSU a few weeks ago, plus they swept CC. I wouldn't take them too ightly if I were you!

Dogs go on the road to Denver this weekend. Should be a tough series with Denver at 8-2-2 in their last 12. Dogs are 8-3-1, but also are 4-3 over the last 3 hockey weekends. Hopefully Offensive Player of the Week Luke Stauffacher (5G, 2A vs. Bowling Green) can provide some needed scoring punch against a Denver team that has given up the third-most goals in the WCHA. UMD needs to tell Denver to "back off" this weekend with a sweep.

Don't forget the loss and tie to UMD at REA either....

BIG faceoff in USA end. TO USA
-
TO Canada

If you get there really late you have to stand on the end behind glass, and try to see around big concrete pillars. The scoreboard animations suck, and are impossible to read. The graphix scream 1989, and every other bulb is burned out.

They may not be a top team, but they certainly are not in the category that you are putting them in... MSU-M: 4-12-4 UNranked Tech: 3-11-4 UNranked UMD: 11-8-2 11th in PWR

A funny footnote: The CCHA website, in it's preview of the BG/UMD series calls Minnesota the land of 1,000 lakes!!

Peluso was the only player to get a misconduct for the 15:04 incident. I didn't hear the game, but he must have just throw a haymaker. Probably getting revenge for what happened at 13:33. A Falcon player was given a misconduct in tht incident. It must have been bad. After 13:33 there were 10 players in the box (5 each team, plus one BG Falcon ejected). After 15:04 there were 12 players in the box, plus another misconduct; totalling 14 ineligible players. I can't even imagine what you do as a coach in that situation. Bowling Green knew they had to start all kinds of trouble in order to play with the Dogs, and I'm sure there was a level of frustration after being blown out the night before.

Dogs beat Bowling Green again tonight, 5-4. Game was very chippy. Teams combined for 43 penalties totalling 105 minutes!! Peluso gone for fighting again, meaning he will sit for 2 games under the new NCAA rule, as this is his 2nd misconduct (you all remember the first!).

Glad you are overlooking the Dogs. I'm sure the Sioux think the UMD series will be just as tough as the UM series...if not tougher. If they have the same attitude that you do, they will be in for a rude surprise at the DECC!!

UMD beat Bowling Green 6-1. Reichmuth let in the first goal, but recovered and played a fine game after that. Stauffacher had a hat trick!!

You know absolutely nothing about hockey if you would put UMD in the same group as MSU-M and Tech. I scoff at your posting. The Bulldogs are a top 10 Pairwise team, and have played very well against other top 10 teams. You just grouped the 4th place team in the WCHA with the 9th and 10th place teams. Show some respect. I have always respected the caliber of hockey that the Sioux play, and most on this site give the Dogs the same respect. They have never run the Dogs down the way you just did. I am very disappointed. p.s.: If you haven't seen a Dogs game since '01, then nevermind.
-
After the auto-bid teams, the selections go by the Pairwise. If 7 WCHA teams are in the top 16, (or less if loser teams get auto-bids...-which they most certainly will.) then 7 WCHA teams will go. It would be great to see, but it probably won't happen.

There is already a solid thread on recruits that would have been a great place for this Mr. Gophs...

Heisenberg...wasn't he the one who was always uncertain??

but he will have four years with Matt Smaby at the University of North Dakota to develop that side of his game. Sounds like somebody jumped the gun on Jay.

I wouldn't pay to see it.....

Rosehill signed letter of intent to play for UMD: 11-17-03, I believe. At least according to UMDBulldogs.com.

In hockey fights that take place during games, the linesmen usually move in to break up fisticuffs when one of the combatants falls on the ice. Jaeger said he was unsure what would bring the staged hockey fights to a conclusion. This doesn't sound very well-planned at all. Maybe they will just go to the death.

A new hockey tournament proposes to skip the finer points of the high-speed sport to get straight to what its Canadian promoters say many fans secretly love best: the brawls. People who go to hockey games in order to see a fight need to get a life. Sure, it's great to see the emotions running high, and teammates defending their star players and goaltender, but the premise of the event is absolutely ridiculous. It's just fighting for the sake of fighting, and that has no place in the game of hockey. It does nothing but promote bad sportsmanship, and encourage kids to fight in their games. Make no mistake, I like to see a good tussle now and then, but taken out of the context of a game, it's nothing more than staged boxing on ice. I sincerely hope this remains some underground, cult-type event, and that high-class facilities like the REA and Xcel never stoop low enough to allow this event to take place on their pristine ice sheets.

I guess I can see how drafting goaltenders would put an NHL team at risk. If Issac can have anywhere near the amount of success that Belfour had, that would really be something. Hopefully he will pull out of his slump and turn in some performances like he had last year near the end of the season.
