2025-26 University of North Dakota Hockey Season
SiouxScore replied to Frozen4sioux's topic in Men's Hockey
I may be in the minority but I would not be opposed at all to bringing in Schultz and Simpson. -
Big difference between an assistant being listed for a potential head job compared to another head coach being listed publicly.

Certainly wasn’t my first choice. Disappointing to see like a UND/GF tie was requirement to be a finalist. No Barr or Raboin are disappointing but not sure they’d let it out if they were finalist due to effect on their current job. Hope for the best under Jackson but need to see a lot of change.

1.Hak 2.Barr 3.Raboin

So I've seen some mention the applicant list and who applied, is the way a coaching search works at North Dakota different then many other places? Isn't a AD just able to target who they want and try to negotiate a deal with them without needing a pool of applicants. Like I know Minnesota fired basketball coach Ben Johnson on March 12th and by like 10AM March 13th Coyle had a deal with Niko Medved even though Colorado State just lost on Sunday. Couldn't Chaves call Barr and get a deal done and whenever Maine loses it is announced.
-
How about Ben Barr? Believe he is from Fairbault. Think he played at RPI. Really revived Maine.

Good guy, from my hometown originally and know his family well. Coulda had the Mankato job but opted to go with Hastings.
-
Some names of the top of my head and not necessarily all would be head coach guys but more so intrigued to have with the next staff. UND guys-Matt Smaby, Colten St. Clair, Bryn Chyzk Non-UND-Nick Fohr USNTDP(GF native), Garrett Raboin, Mike Hastings

Was hoping this move would be made but didn't have a lot of confidence in the athletic department, glad to see it come to fruition.
-
Dave Hakstol In all seriousness you have to be open to all avenues and while program ties are nice they certainly should not be a requirement.

Read a article about Mason West football/hockey decision. UND not listed among the 3 schools Notre Dame, Michigan State, and Wisconsin.

Solid 4-5 periods of hockey this weekend. Still need to find a way to win 2 more and I'd guess that will take at least 6 good periods this weekend.

That ref crew really struggled today especially late, no consistency. East side deserved to win that game, played really well and inches away from that being a 4-1 game with the posts. EGF's willingness to roll 3 lines and at least 4 D for the most part showed up while Cathedral leaned on those top 2 lines and Sturm heavy the last 2 days.

Junior, really solid QB too

Edina certainly recruits as well and theirs are often out of state guys.
-
They did try it once and they did it for girls this year. I believe the explanation was getting the big crowd from the A game out and then the AA sellout crowd in with that short turnaround time was too tough.

Thought I posted this the other day but saw Goehring and Jackson at the Moorhead/Bemidji game Wednesday. I'd imagine watching Zimmerman and maybe Mickelson. Saw some Bemidji State coaches there as well.

Took care of business like you should against a bad team but that has been no given with this squad all year, now can you go and do it against a good team?
-
The classic Berry collapse. Sit back and defend well for 20 minutes instead of staying aggressive and attacking which this team is more suited to do. Berry can’t be gone soon enough.

Did some good things but not nearly consistent enough. The blind turnovers into danger areas are absolutely maddening. i remember Bump having the big senior year and state tournament and being mad we weren’t after him and trying to flip. Then when the Vermont thing happened and he entered portal and we didn’t make any effort because we were “full”. Sometimes in college athletics an opportunity presents itself where you need to make a tough decision and make room for a guy like Bump. I said the same thing when Slukynsky became available but Berry didn’t pursue. When Slukynsky, a potential 3-4 year starter is available from your backyard and instead of jumping on the good fortune you say nah we already got a guy who was really average at Arizona State you have to question if there is some kind of brain injury.

Pretty disappointing weekend. This program expects more and should expect more than to be happy with a OT win against frickin Arizona St. Reffing wasn’t great this weekend, not sure how that 3rd goal wasn’t overturned. We’re in the 2nd half and still see common occurrences of complete coverage breakdowns in the d-zone. Our head coach specializes in defense and this !@#$ happens all the time. The discipline is severely lacking. It takes us 15 grade As to put 1 in the net…not great. so many sloppy no look plays just wanting to get rid of the puck…control it and go make a play, want the puck

Took Ohio State over Penn State for the national championship in my bowl picks and still feel good about that. Been perfect in the playoff games so far. Feel like Penn State and Notre Dame are very similar teams but think Allar is the better QB. Love also not being fully healthy really hurts the Iris.
