Omaha was an absolute blast. Target Field would be as well. I don't know how they get the scheduling to work though outside of a hefty check to UND for the possibility of giving up a home game.

And those two years were preceded by early flameouts in the conference tournament (1 win in 3 years). The 2014 NCAA berth was a long time ago, hopefully the team can get back to where they were then. Will be interesting to see how they stack up with the SD schools.

Hotels closer than 10+ miles from the football stadium/downtown area.

What's funny is that the basketball center was announced two weeks before they announced they were dropping football. On top of that, your post was mocked because of how you tried to position Jacksonville's past success in basketball, which consists of a single Cinderella run a half century ago and no NCAA appearances in 34 years. It had nothing to do with them sticking some of the savings into other sports. The ability to support other sports better was a huge part of their reasoning to drop football and no one disagreed with that.

@The Sicatoka @UNDBIZ Can one of you start and move all of this into a separate thread dedicated to specifically to Hunter? Might gain a bit more traction for a young man who is everything we want our student athletes to represent.

UND's staff doesn't request their recruits to make sure they have recruiting profiles out there. Don't have a reason for why 24/7 doesn't bother updating but probably safe to say UND doens't have someone making sure they stay updated. Take those comments however you want.

There will be 4 at least D-1 OOC games next year at home. Going forward, 3-4 is the the similar expectation. This is correct. UND was at Montana Friday and would have got home late Saturday for a Sunday matinee matchup vs. EWU. Meanwhile, EWU would have beat UND to Grand Forks by likely a full day. They flipped the games with EWU and they will be coming here next year.

Yeah...... No. Leaving under his own terms. I'm not even sure his position falls under the athletic department anymore either, though he obviously still is tied significantly to the department. You're not going to find many people who can earnestly talk about UND with as much passion as Brekke can. Will be interesting to see who they can find to fill his position. Sanderson isn't quite ready for that big of a role yet.

I'd put money on the latter but at T-Mobile instead of Orleans. Seattle has been losing steam.

Yeah, unless he broke it three times....that isn't correct at all. The second break came his 2nd season as he was trying to come back after getting hurt in the first game. That's my point on his hardship being confusing, 2011 is the only season he is listed as losing due to injury. https://gobison.com/sports/football/roster/zach-vraa/6271

Broke his collarbone in his first game his RS-Freshman year. It healed up and he was set to come back later in the season and broke his other one in practice the week he was supposed to come back. They both happened in the same season.

Need to account for Penn State's allotment plus any hold backs/complimentary tickets/etc. But I would say its pushing 10K by this point.

Vraa came into college with a 4.7 40yd dash. He managed to shave a few tenths off once he got into college. Not really apples to apples comparing Maag's high school time against Vraa's time after he spent 6 (!!!!!) years in college under a pretty stellar S&C program. Still not sure how he got that 6th year. Redshirted his freshman year, broke both collarbones his second year, then played 13, 15 and 14 games his next 3 years before being granted a 6th year. Unless there was an unreported injury his redshirt year, he got pretty lucky.

Well.......I mean if they might advance some sort of deep state narrative......close enough.....

Penn State has their own allotment. Don't remember the exact number, but something like 1,500. UND's was roughly 10x that. I get both sides of this. I know there were emails sent out to encourage people to join the Champions Club to get access and there were quite a few who did (I believe you mentioned earlier you didn't know about that, so understandable). But I don't think they can really do it a different way. They need to continue to reward the fans who are giving money upfront. I think that's their hope, at least publicly. I would be pleasantly surprised if that actually happens. Difference between tickets sold and actual turnstile numbers will be interesting as well. I'd be curious what their actual internal projections are.
-
What is the demand they anticipated? I'd be surprised if there are much of anything left of the lower bowl tickets left after today outside of the first two rows. General public presale will be interesting. Did people not from the immediate UND market (home to most Champions Club members) find people to buy them tickets already? Or will there be a surge from people who aren't CC members and want tickets. I don't think there was much of a concern for people to get tickets to the game due to the size of the arena. I do think there will be quite a few extra tickets floating around as people's plans change over the next year and/or they start figuring the cost of the trip and decide not to go. It happened for the Vegas trip the last couple weeks before the game. But I also think the initial shortage of Vegas tickets will cause people to buy Nashville tickets upfront, which will lead to a slightly higher "extra ticket" market.

You said that the Summit and WAC would announce they would be realigning by July 1, 2018. You also said that Big Sky and Summit would make their announcement by July 1, 2019 and doubled down saying you would "shut your trap permanently" about Summit movement if it didn't happen. The grand vision of FBS and super-mega conferences isn't out there right now. Quit trying to read tea leaves that don't exist. There will always be smaller movements of sorts and at some point, there very well could be some bigger changes. But there isn't some master plan going on in the shadows that will have a great unveiling. You're trying to solve a puzzle that doesn't exist in the way you think it does.

I mean, your comment literally telling someone how they were wrong about a new jersey and the that the athletic department needs to protect people's feelings started the derailing. But easier to play victim I suppose.

Based on personal available, they put the best 3 on the field. That's about as simple as it gets. They used the pass game as an extension of the run game and those were the three most sure-handed. Toivonen and Maag both ran plenty of intermediate and deep routes that took the attention of the safety. They were able to do it more with their size and go up and get the ball rather than blow by them. Not what everyone is looking for but again, you do the best with the personnel you have. Maag has some pretty decent speed for his size. He will be a monster the next two years if he can continue to develop and work on his hands a bit, he had a few issues towards the end of the year. Wanzek was an excellent route runner and had the quickness to get open to go with his hands. Boltman added a dynamic element, though I wouldn't classify him as a deep threat. He just needs the ball in space. I think he will play an absolutely huge role next year. If only he was a more accurate passer, he'd be fun to watch taking over the offense next year. There's some intriguing guys looking to fill in for the seniors next year: Cochran has some pretty good speed Schmidt is a sprinter/hurdler on the indoor track team Burian and Zalvalney are local kids who are developing nicely and fit the size mold of Wanzek/Toivonen

Since July 1 came and went without a peep, best to keep kicking the can down the road.

What exactly do you mean that they wouldn't "take kindly"? Are they going to run back to their hotel room in horror? Are they going to let a jersey ruin their entire trip and prevent them from any enjoyment? It is amusing how the "rules" on how the athletic department should be able to market the actual nickname and official logo of the University continue to change just so a certain subset of the fan base don't get their feelings hurt. At some point, they need to rip the band-aid off and people are going to have to just deal with it. They can wear or yell whatever they want, but other fan bases have a point: “You aren’t the Sioux anymore”
-
If people dropping thousands of dollars to go to a destination game have their experience ruined by the team unveiling a new jersey and send them running to a safe space because it has a bird logo or word on it, I think that says a hell of a lot more about them than anything else. Frankly, I think it would be a perfect time to drop a new jersey.
-
I'd be curious how much "revenue share" he is actually doing. Pretty safe bet in the case of the Sioux jerseys, UND isn't getting a cut of his sales because if they were, there is no way they would allow him to be using such a terrible knock-off because it would go against all brand standards. It would also be required to go through a specific manufacturer that has the license to produce the Brien logo (and again, not be terrible), plus at this point in time almost certainly have a Dacotah Legacy patch on it as well. Frankly, whoever has been in charge of protecting UND's IP has been doing a pretty terrible job the last 1-2 years. Some of the movie ones are interesting, not sure on the creative licensing one can use to sell those but he'd be going against some pretty heavy hitters if they decided he was infringing.

Well when you put it that way, I guess they will be back to their old ways of that glorious one year run they had 50 years ago in no time! I mean, it's literally that easy according to you. The proof is with all the other schools who have dropped sports in order to reallocate resources and then restored decades old glory without problem.
