  1. If he's at Shattuck, and his dad played for UND, what are the chances that he won't come...? Probably very slim, it would be great to see him in a Sioux uniform if he is that good.

    SSM

Does anyone have any information on the SSM games the weekend of the 17th? I haven't seen any advertisements for it, just wondering about tickets.
  3. There are a lot of great goaltenders in the WCHA, Reichmuth, Berkhoel, Volp, and McElhinney are all deserving. Outside of the WCHA, I think the best goaltender I've seen play since Karl in his prime is Al Montoya. This kid is crazy talented, and if anyone ever gets a chance to see Mich play this year, take it.
  4. I just booked my plane tickets home for this series, and I can hardly wait. Finally after that OT loss in the NC game, we get to see the eagles again, and in our own barn too. I think this is a huge game for the Sioux to get on the right track this year. Not only does it have the East vs West feel, but UND vs BC has a lot of history over the past 6 years or so.
  5. That would be Brandt the basketball player
  6. The title of this post was suppose to be Hale, DeMarchi, and Martin, my bad. Anyway here's the article: WEST ORANGE, N.J., Sept. 15 - The Devils prospects David Hale and Paul Martin, both defensemen, had a big surprise waiting for them when they checked today's practice schedule at the team hotel. After three days of practice in training camp with the minor league players and other prospects, they were told to practice with the varsity. "You're a little awestruck," Martin, a fluid-skating 22-year-old from Minnesota, said after practice. "There are a lot of guys out there who've built great reputations as far as playing the game and coaching the game. It's awesome to be out there and to learn from the best." Coach Pat Burns wanted to see if they were ready to fill one of the open spots on the Devils' blue line this season, created by the off-season departures of the veterans Ken Daneyko, Oleg Tverdovsky and Richard Smehlik. "I wanted to be up close to them and observe them," Burns said. "They're impressive. They are players who have played at high-level events and won at high-level events." Hale and Martin, who are roommates during training camp with another defense prospect, Matt DeMarchi, spent three years in college after being drafted by the Devils in 2000.

    Optimism

On the subject of splitting up Parise and Bochenski, I'd almost rather see Stafford/Murray/Parise, as they all came out of the same system (SSM) and might gel together better. that is of course assuming that Murray and Stafford play as well as expected.

    Optimism

I don't know about you guys, but I can't wait to bring the gophers back to the ralph with that big target on their backs. That place is gonna go crazy.
  9. Line 1: Parise/Bochenski/Murray Line 2: Stafford/Massen/Lundbohm Line 3: McMahon/Hale/Prpich Line 4: Genoway/Connely/Fylling I like the fact that Line 1 is probably the most talented line in the country, and that Line 3 is going to be an outstanding checking line to put up against anyone's first. I'm curious to see how stafford fits in, because I could see him as a first line player if he really starts to produce. I am almost clueless on the 4th line, it all depends on who starts to step it up, but we need more production from that end, thats for sure.
  10. I don't care who INCH says is better than who, all that matters is what happens when they step on the ice.
  11. Awesome, I'll be back in town for the BC series so I should be able to catch the SSM games too. Anyone know how much tickets cost? My guess is that you can buy them at the REA ticket office.
  12. Karl. No one played like him. He was unstoppable in net, and probably the most mentally solid goalie UND has ever seen. Runners up would have to go to Greg Johnson, and Hrkac, however, I think we may be seeing a new possibilty develop over the next couple of years.
  13. Great minds think alike
  14. At that level you begin to wonder how far "own expense" goes... There's always loopholes
  15. I thought the Forwards did a good job on the PP, but the Defense was weak. From the point, 75% of the shots taken were blocked. They need to rip those right away, no delaying. Also, it seemed like the D had trouble moving the puck up through the neutral zone at times.
  16. I believe I read somewhere that UMass-Lowell was working on recruiting Jordan Parise. This could also prove promising if true. UML has put out some good goalies as well, such as Cam McCormick (sp?) a couple years ago, and wasn't Roloson a goalie there too?
  17. Luke isn't eligible until the '04 draft
  18. Something that suprises me, on USCHO the mock draft shows Brady Murray at 183? I thought he'd be a lot higher than that...
  19. Trust me, if you knew these kids, you would know they don't do a damn thing without each other. I swear they are bonded at the hip and sometimes share a brain, but they can really, really, play hockey.
  20. I agree. In a couple of years UND will take a big hit in numbers. Many graduating and I would be shocked if some did not leave early. I'm impressed with the recruits coming in, Murray, Stafford and Smaby are all great recruits for this upcoming season. I think this year UND will have one of the best offensive squads in the country. But after that, alot of things could change. I know that one of the Lamoureux's who plays forward (I think it's Jacque..) is not going to GFC next year, but to SSM. Blais has created sort of a pipeline to SSM, I would guess that we will be seeing some of their best talent come through UND in the future. However, It would be interesting to see if they recruited some players from the BCHL. I know there alot of great players in that league, and some feel that it holds better competition than the USHL. A few canadians here and there couldn't hurt, eh?
  21. Leave the midgets out of this! : You make it sound like winning with a midget is easy

    Murray

I believe Parise would still be eligible, as he will only be 19 during the tournament. Greene and Jones are too old I think.
  23. So what are the chances that he will ever play college hockey? I remember reading articles about him earlier in the year that said he would probably play in canada for a few years and then go to the NHL.
  24. I agree with jk. Not to take the side of a gopher fan but I don't think Hammy has been out of line with any of his posts here. In fact, I rather like having non-sioux fan perspectives on the board.
