  1. So downtown has the late night bar scene cornered on Friday and Saturday nights (during the school year).....don't see alot of bikes that time of night and people aren't walking from campus to get there......so why the need for more bike Lanes and bumpouts? But I'll give you standing at any downtown bar and counting people during an entire week. Then I'll stand outside BWW that same week and see which place does more business. Not saying downtown shouldn't exist, but it also shouldn't get a disproportionate amount of the resources since a week involves more than just a couple hours two nights a week.
  2. You stand downtown by Demers and count the number of people on their bikes on any given day, especially in the winter, and I will stand by a restaurant/bar on any other non-downtown road in Grand Forks counting the number of cars I see on the same day......my 10-1 estimate is conservative.
  3. You can't be serious. When it comes to anything downtown the city council (minus Weigel and Sande) is a rubber stamp for the wishes of the DDA.....whose leadership reads as a who's who of Grand Forks downtown business owners (the majority of restaurants/bars down there).
  4. For every person that wants to go downtown there are 10 that don't want to deal with it....in Fargo and Grand Forks. I'm not saying no one enjoys the crammed in feel of it, but it's niche......a small but vocal minority of a niche. All of Fargo has grown....not just downtown.....and strip out the handouts and it would be interesting to see if downtown Fargo looks the way it does. The same urbanists that always want to point out "wasted" space in suburban areas.....never want to point to the empty bike racks....bike paths....and pedestrian sidewalks when it is below zero and snowy.
  5. Because if Fargo does it Grand Forks needs to do it too. People live in different towns for reasons. Many people choose to live in Grand Forks because it isn't Minneapolis or Fargo.
  6. Yes, now all we need is for someone on the council (or the "vibrancy" gang) to create a weather machine that can eliminate the months of late Nov/Dec through mid March so those of us in mainstream society that don't like walking/biking in Sub-Zero temps will actually use the new walk/bike friendly downtown.
  7. Lol.....bigskyvikes is gonna take a bigger bath on buying regional tickets this year than he did the year he forgot to sell his pumpkin harvest BEFORE Halloween.
  8. It's almost like Berry thinks he is coaching a NBA team where tanking improves your chance at a better draft pick. No other explanation for the Cam love affair .
  9. Will Bubba take the necessary steps to clean up the culture of the team? Or will he just wait another year or two for graduations....or at least for eligibilities to run out..... to take care of the problem?
  10. $400-500 per ticket will be market ahead of time, with that more than likely dropping to some $200 deals to be had as the event gets closer and cancellations happen.
  11. That's ridiculous, he's been way too busy fishing the puck out of the back of his own net to work on that too
  12. Exaggerate much? I thought after last Saturday.....one game.... that all doubts were put to rest? This is a mediocre team that absolutely needs to start the young promising goalie of the future now.
  13. MafiaMan and SiouxBoys.....so what were you saying about Cam? Kind of quiet.
  14. If he can have 2 solid games in Miami then he deserves kudos......for playing the way a senior goaltender should be expected to play all the time not every sixth game.
  15. Who do you like next year? Serious question.
  16. I say leave the net open. Short of Patrick Roy in his prime no goalie can thrive with this leaky D.
  17. One goal difference and goalie is pulled with over 2 minutes left?
  18. Without a stable of NHL defensemen in front of him, Cam is an average to maybe slightly above average .900 save percentage type goalie. When you have a couple Boesser/Jost players on your team helping it score 4-5 goals per game that equates to a winning record because Cam usually doesn't get blown out. However, on an offensivley challenged team, averaging at least one soft goal let in per game doesn't cut it. Of course it's not all Cam's fault, but you can't drop 9 of your forwards that aren't producing mid year for 9 that can score. Given what the team is this year you need the best goalie in there which is Thome. Cam's soft goals absolutely cost them at least one of the Denver games (one could argue both) and possibly the Duluth game when UND jumped up 2 goals right away only for Cam to start letting softies in. Just because your team only scores 2 goals doesn't mean that your goalie isn't allowed to actually throw a shutout when only facing 18-19 shots in a game.
  19. Nope. But someone has to counter all of the people that blindly think Cam should just automatically start every game. Watching him deflate the team by giving up softies this year has gotten old.
  20. Tough to give it your all and play hard when you know that the second you give up a soft shot it's going in.
  21. Anyone that can't see the difference is either delusional or a relative. Cam wasn't tested the last 3 weeks and he still let in a bunch of softies.
  22. Thome showing why he should have been put in 3-4 games ago.
  23. Not sure who to blame the recruiting on, probably some blame for everyone......but when your team is awarded a penalty shot and you have to send out a defenseman to take it (because he truly was your best option)....something is wrong.....very wrong.
  24. You need to watch the play again without your green glasses on. Even the die hard Cam holdouts on this board saw it for what it was. For Cam they are all hard shots to stop now.....no angle shots from the goal line.....spin o rama shots from the top of the circle...and in general any shot above his waist.
