Got four tickets and can't wait to see Metallica! Well worth it since there is no travel or hotel room required for once. Really happy with the efforts by new Alerus management.

http://www.inforum.com/sports/4247564-all-individual-sports-ndsu-und-lose-money-annual-financial-report-indicates I don't have CC numbers for last year, but this article from 4/7/2017 lists $10.4 M for non-specific athletics revenue for UND. That means it's revenue that is not tied directly to a sport (e.g. champion's club, merchandise, tv rights). If you offset the losses per sport with that revenue, UND athletics had a buget deficit of $1.4 M for the year. While we would all like to see this number in the black, it certainly isn't as bad as listing all the sports and their losses. Per the article, NDSU attributes some of their donations and merchandise sales to specific sports making them look more profitable on a chart that UND's.

http://www.grandforksherald.com/opinion/columns/4410612-commentary-womens-hockey-program-und-died-because-few-were-supporting-it While this "article" is positive in that it calls out the financial and attendance failings of WH, it also fails to mention the Champion's Club money generated (mostly by MH). Since UND does not account for those dollars as part of the revenues by sport, it makes all the programs look bad. Port loves calling out other people for bending a story to fit their narrative, but has no problem doing it himself.

Welcome to UND! Very glad to have you here.

Looks like the match will be available on the BTN app on Roku, in addition to the live stream online. You might need to login with your cable credentials to access it.

Absolutely. I agree with you on the necessity of hiring a search firm for an important position like the AD.

The ND Legislature changed the open records law during the 2017 session. Applicant records for all positions are now considered "confidential" and can only be disclosed once three finalists (or less if there are limited qualified candidates) are selected. Hopefully, this allows all public entities in the state to attract more qualified candidates. Here is the related section from the ND Century Code. 44-04-18.27. Applications for public employment - Hiring process - Confidential records and open records. If a public entity or any person delegated authority by a public entity to review applications or make hiring decisions receives applications from three or more applicants who meet the minimum qualifications for a vacant position, the public entity or other person shall designate three or more of the qualified applicants as finalists for further consideration before the public entity or other person may issue an offer of employment to fill the position. However, if the public entity or other person does not wish to consider any of the applications further and decides not to make an offer of employment for the vacant position, the public entity need not designate any finalist. The applications and any records related to the applications which contain information that could reasonably be used to identify an applicant are confidential, except records related to finalists are open to the public after the finalists are designated. The public entity or other person reviewing applications on behalf of the public entity shall comply with all requirements for an executive session to discuss confidential applications. If, by the close of the application period for a vacant position, a public entity receives applications from fewer than three applicants who meet the minimum qualifications, the applications and records related to the applications are open to the public.

So you would have preferred a separate thread for this discussion so people could have avoided it if they so chose? That would be fair.

I don't think they did. In my recollection, they retired all Native American imagery and retained the Illini name as a person living in Illinois.

I think it's fair to point out that by "most" you mean a few people posting on a UND men's hockey message board, where support for this tradition would be extremely high. It's possible you would get a different response from fans of other teams or the general public. That being said, I respect the opinions of those that disagree with me on the issue.

Those words are actually in the Canadian National Anthem as opposed to "Sioux". In the end, each of us gets to decide what is respectful or disrespectful and I appreciate everyone's take on the issue.
-
bigskyvikes, I think you make some interesting points, although I would argue that just because the Chiefs and Blues fans do it doesn't make it right. I find yelling anything during the National Anthem to be disrespectful. I also find it disrespectful to kneel in protest, talk, fail to remove your hat, take selfies, eat, etc during the anthem. As Americans, the great thing is that we do have the right to do all these things and are not required to act respectfully. My problem is the hypocrisy. I'm only guessing, but I would think that the vast majority of those yelling "Sioux" at the end of the anthem, would be vehemently opposed to NFL players kneeling. If it's ok for fans to take the anthem as their own to "intimidate" players on an opposing team, then it is certainly ok to kneel during the anthem to express your political or social beliefs.

Pluto is working fine on smart phone or laptop if you can use those.

FYP - That would have required facts that do not support his position.

Interesting how the same article is portrayed differently in two papers owned by the same company GF Herald - "Office of Civil Rights opening investigation into UND's Title IX compliance" http://www.grandforksherald.com/sports/4254943-office-civil-rights-opening-investigation-unds-title-ix-compliance Fargo Forum - "Amid cuts, UND's Title IX compliance in question" http://www.inforum.com/sports/4254954-amid-cuts-unds-title-ix-compliance-question

It's the first section listed.

LMAO She is a complete fraud. No alternatives, facts, answers and she can't even deal with reasonable challenges to her posts.

In my opinion, soccer isn't even close. The Women's World Cup Championship in 2015 averaged 25.4 million viewers, making it the most viewed soccer match (men's or women's) in US history.
