Abate reminds me of the guy from Mankato that slew footed the UND defenseman and broke his leg in a couple places when we were stilll in the WCHA.  I always hated that cheap shot artist from Mankato back then.  I believe Rylan Kaip evened up the score some later down in Mankato.  Can someone put the names to this incident as they escape me right now.

Trevor Bruess. There were several incidents with him. Kaip evened one of the scores but then a season later after Kaip had graduated he broke Derrick LaPoint’s leg and got no penalty. (But we did!) We won that game though.

This was the worst example of home cooking I can remember.

Denver 1-2   UND 8-27.     After UND won Friday night, "home cooking" made sure that didn't happen again.

I was at this game. They called back a goal for “goalie interference” and gave Cole Smith a major penalty for what looked like running into a DU player who was clearly playing injured.

When you look at the guys who are out, it's devastating.  Trying to put lines together, I'm guessing you drop Costantini down to 3rd line center, and put Budy & Montgomery in on left wing, while maintaining the 4th line as-is.  Going to be tough until they start getting some guys back, which is why losing the lead last night really hurts their chances.

Budy is “out indefinitely” last I heard unless that has changed.

I didn't see the play or any replays to this point.  Officials were right there on top of it but Brad was not happy so was wondering what others saw.

Losing Jammer to a freak incident would be exactly this team's injury luck.

Figured Berry is more pissed because it’s always the same kid doing this crap. May have been incidental but the kid has a reputation for a reason. I mean he slashed Jammer on the faceoff last year that started that brawl last season  too. So it’s not like there’s no history.

Tied for 12th with Notre Dame.  With the auto qualis we need to move up to about 10th to feel comfortable.  This was a bad tie for us.  We could have possibly moved up a spot with a win.  We are clinging to the bubble right now.  We're not playing bad hockey but other teams that we need to win to move up are not wining and we keep clinging precariously to the bubble.

The other issue is We’re not moving up because the teams that have been directly ahead of us are also winning. Just looking at the Pairwise comparisons we lose, I’m not sure how much more we can move up without the teams ahead of us tanking.

Omaha, the most annoying fan base that acts like they have won something important

I hate how they always want major credit when they split with someone. Like who cares.

I guess I'd like to have you define "beat out" ... are you ignoring guys like Sanderson, Perron, Blake, etc., that everyone had eyes on? Ethan Frisch stands out as a Minnesota boy I know Minny had eyes on.

UND and Harvard were actually the only teams that recruited Sanderson. It was in an article in the GF Herald. It’s kind of funny to think about.

Pearson allowed the roommate of a player who had tested positive for COVID to come on the trip.

    Teams bring randos to regionals?

“Roommate” was also a player on the team. Which basically explains why they had to forfeit. Player who’s roommate was left back with Covid tests positive when he gets to Fargo. Maybe if they had left him back with his roommate they would’ve been cleared to play. I don’t know how many they had test positive though, could’ve been more than just that player.

Cornell fan here.  We actually are a decent squad and not a walk-over the way some seem to have expected.  ASU was an anomaly.  However, NoDak outplayed us for much of last night.  When we were able to penetrate the D despite NoDak being up 3-1, that surprised me.  I don't think Driscoll was entirely to blame for the comeback.

Also: if you guys who "don't think he's all that he's cracked up to be" don't want Sanderson, we'll take him.  He was making plays on and off the puck all night that showed his quality.  Fabulous talent.

Good luck the rest of the way (except tonight).  I regret we didn't have the chance to meet in 2020 when we were 1 and 2.

Glad you stopped by. I don’t know where the off base assessment of Cornell’s team was coming from. It was a matchup of 2 top 15 teams so it was weird to see some of the comments.

Sorry for that, force of habit.

Miami University has a certain reputation in Ohio where they often times will forget they are a state school like Kent, BG, Ohio State, and even that godforsaken Toledo. Many have gotten in the habit of reminding them. Dampens their self styled “public ivy” image. It’s why I think they’ll never leave the NCHC.  This type of hit to their ego would be felt in Australia.  Full disclosure: my wife is a Miami State grad.

tl;dr version is it’s an Ohio thing.

My Ohio relatives didn’t even know Miami exists.

Why did he decommit? What's the deal, wanted to be here this year?

They pushed his arrival back at least twice now.  He’s played like parts of 4 years of juniors. I’d be ready to move on too.

Nooooo! So he is out at UND for good? Or is this just for the rest of this season?

I think it sounds like he will still do the UND games that are not on CBS. But I’m not 100 percent. That was my interpretation.

I really didn't think this team had a shot at the NCHC regular season title, but with how much other teams keep beating up on each other, anything's possible.

Difference to me so far is that UND took care of business against the two bottom tier teams, Miami and CC, and some of the other teams have gave up points against them.

Back in my youthful twenties, at World Arena we’d sneak in some of those shooters and then go buy a Pepsi and make mixed drinks. Nowadays, in my old age, I sneak in Skittles or Mike & Ike’s from Walgreens.

In my youthful thirties I sneak in shooters to any arena that doesn’t serve alcohol

I was trying to figure out how the hell they would have tied UND for the conference lead with a win.

Going into the weekend we had 6 points on them and Western (we had 15, they had 9). Western swept and tied us until our game went final. So now we are 3 points up on Western.

Not sure if you actually wanted to know but…
