Didn’t we pull the plug? I could have sworn we asked him to play another year of juniors

From what I remember, he was supposed to be in this year’s junior class, I think he was even announced. And then sometime in the summer I think someone on here said something about him playing another year of juniors. And not long after the decommit happened.

He never did play another year of junior hockey though…

This covid year stuff has harmed UND’s player development.  You were right, we need to develop the youth.

I thought developing our younger players has been an issue long before Covid. Like how many younger skilled players that start their careers in the bottom six ever make it into our top six? And stay there consistently?

Question about junior hockey: Is the BCHL considered to be a step below the USHL?

If so, is the BCHL considered to be equivalent to the NAHL?

BCHL is above the NAHL. Probably a step below the USHL but I don’t know how significant it is. Dylan James played in both the AJHL and the USHL and he said the depth of talent is better in the USHL but the top tier teams in the BCHL and AJHL are on par with the USHL.

They've certainly been recruited.  Just haven't landed any recently, unfortunately.

Cooley said it came down to UND and UMN.
Eiserman was down to UND, UMN, and BU.
Kent Johnson was down to UND and UM.

Hopefully he can change that soon.

I mean I’d also say it’s hard to project where 16 year olds will end up being drafted, which is when the high end kids usually commit. Sometimes it’s obvious that they’ll be a 1st round pick , but you never really know until draft year.

Did anyone else notice that after Gaber's OT winner Blake skated away from the celebration? Maybe too much praise heaped on Gaber when Blake did all the work.

I don’t know what part of the celebration you’re referring to but I think this may be off base. Immediately after Gaber scored Blake skated over to a different section of fans to celebrate. I don’t think there’s really too much to it.

A lot of those guys will be gone next year, so Slipec will get an opportunity to prove himself.

He plays limited minutes on the 4th line for the most part but I’ve heard positive reviews of his on ice play. He’s injured right now though.

    Agreed on all this.
Especially the major...DU will get the lions share of the PP chances in Denver, for sure.  In at least one game, the DU PP chances will at least double the number of PP chances that UND gets.

Just a few fun ones that I found looking back thru the archives:

    2021 - UND 3 PP / DU 7 PP - http://www.collegehockeystats.net/2021/boxes/mdenndk1.j18
    2019 - UND 3 PP / DU 6 PP - http://www.collegehockeystats.net/1920/boxes/mdenndk1.n16
    2019 - UND 1 PP / DU 3 PP - http://www.collegehockeystats.net/1819/boxes/mdenndk1.f02
    2014 - UND 3 PP / DU 6 PP - http://www.collegehockeystats.net/1415/boxes/mdenndk1.d12
    2012 - UND 3 PP / DU 7 PP - http://www.collegehockeystats.net/1112/boxes/mdenndk1.f25
    2007 - UND 2 PP / DU 5 PP - http://www.collegehockeystats.net/0708/boxes/mdenndk1.n30

    And...my personal favorite:

    2017 - UND 1 PP / DU 8 PP - http://www.collegehockeystats.net/1718/boxes/mdenndk1.n18

I thought that 2017 game our only PP was with a minute left but I must be remembering a different game. That 2017 game also had a lame goaltender interference call take a goal away. Collin Adams tapped the goalie pad with his stick on a pass across the crease which was goalie interference apparently.

Your comparing a guy 120 games vs 34. Heck we have a  guy with over 170 games still not be perfect. Probably some room there for 6 to development and make mistakes.   Seems like we just had a guy with over 100 games have a bad turnover and we lost. If you compared all of #6 puck touches for the whole seasons u would probably see that the positive touches out way the negatives.

I don’t think Sidorski playing is in place of Johnson. They play different styles. I think it’s been a choice of Moore over Johnson on the third pairing. You could replace Johnson with Moore and I don’t know if there would be much difference.

Did he just fall out of the coaches favor, seemed like he was playing well.

When was he last playing well? Like he was fine to start off the year but once the defensive struggles became more glaring his defensive issues stuck out more than his strengths. He was really bad in the defensive zone in the last few games he played in the first half, and hasn’t played since.

#50 is more like it I’m thinking, some have Perron going in the first. I’m not so sure anymore, unless he’s current hurt. His numbers have taken a significant dip since his hot start. They moved Celebrini off his line i believe and every came to a halt. Hopefully he he picks it back up.

on a more positive note, Emerson still cruising along. Slipec struggling as well.

Chicago changed their lines frequently. Every time I look they have different lines. Celebrini was on his line last night. Last weekend he played one game on a line with Emerson and another game with other players.
