Maple Grove if I recall.

Slipec playing in the Chicago Steel Development Camp All-Star Game (along with Perron and Livanavage). Would be great if he decided to play in the USHL this year instead of the BCHL.
I think it could continue to be a trend- seeing more Canadians come down to the USHL. With the restrictions in Canada due to Covid and the uncertainty of seasons being played the last few years, more kids started to make the move and have had success so I could see it gaining traction.

Anybody played at UND while attending med school?
I’m not sure it’s possible. My roommate my last year at UND was a first year med student and the schedule she had was insane.

Neuroscience and Economics ... talk about peas and lug nuts. Not sure how those go together.
Is he coming for grad classes at Med School, or MBA, ... or both.
Would guess MBA based on his summer internship plans.

So will Sidorski be required to take classes? Sounds like he’s graduating with a double major from Union so curious to know what the academic rules are for 5th year seniors?
I assume he will enroll in grad school.

Curious that it's not considered poaching or tampering.
I guess I don’t see why it would be. They aren’t governed under the same governing body (USA Hockey vs Hockey Canada), and it seems there is no agreement in place about this. It just gives kids options.

Interesting that the USHL draft is picking guys already on AJHL teams ...
This has been happening for years.

Was it always shared with women's soccer?
Only since they moved into REA after women’s hockey was cut.

Yup, and his 2.94 GAA puts him right in the middle of the Big Ten goalie stats, and the .918 save percentage is solid. Clearly, UND coaches saw something, and I'm not going to second guess that, for sure. But proven against NCHC competition? Not yet.
UND also beat out 18 other schools for him.

Thought someone said we weren’t on his list of potential schools.
We are not. Looks like he wants to go to a big school based on his top 5. If he’s looking to play college next year we wouldn’t be a fit anyway. If he plays another year in Chicago could always try to change his mind I guess.

Never heard of a school doing that , but always wondered how that would play out
I don’t remember the player’s name but if I recall Northeastern blocked him from going to Denver. He ended up staying at Northeastern before eventually transferring to Minnesota.

I was thinking about this as well regarding James. As good of a season that he is having, does he step right in next year in a Top-9 role?
I guess I wouldn’t bring him in to play 4th line minutes, so I’d expect him to be top 9. IMO you bring him in to challenge for a top 6 role. Might be more third line but have the flexibility to play top 6.
Might be an unpopular opinion but there were a couple guys who disappeared from the scoresheet for long stretches last season who are returning top 6 guys. I’d like some more options when this happens.

There has to be four games missing. As posted I only see 31 games. My guess is the other four are Bemidji and Cornell.
Bemidji is over Thanksgiving. And Schloss mentioned in the article about the schedule today that there is an early January weekend they are still trying to schedule a series for.

I thought we got a return trip to Cornell. We really need to get some payback from big red.
Don’t know about that. We were supposed to go there in 2020-21 season, but Cornell pulled out of that season. (And there was no non conference) I don’t know the contract details to know if we will still make that trip.

I think Calder has a place on next years team in a scoring role. He was tied for 2nd on our team in goals this season.
Big part of the reason Calder transferred to UND because Lake State doesn’t have graduate programs - I do not think he is going anywhere.

Does Strinden have any Junior eligibility left?
I think I read this in an article earlier.
His junior team had originally expected him back to potentially be their captain next season until it became likely he goes to school so he theoretically could go back.

Jason Ulmer and Schmaltz have a few dates this summer.....
Wondering if they’ll consider moving Costantini back to center?

Sounds cheaper to the fans though for the games to be on espn+ not everyone has cable.
Oh thank god someone said it. I was starting to think I was the only one who is like “sounds like a great price point to me”
wish NCHC could get our games on espn + …

Nothing in the stats before this year screamed can’t miss. Sometimes teams that need to take flyers on players before they prove it at the junior level hit on a player or two. St. Cloud offered early and it paid off. That doesn’t always work.
Yeah, From what I have read SCSU offered him when the MJHL was basically shut down because of Covid. There was a connection with one of the SCSU coaches so they took a gamble.

Schlossman thinks a defenseman from the portal.
I'm looking 12 months from now: if none use their Covid years, Frisch, Jandric, and Ferner are done and Kleven could go early.
Depending on what they'd bring in (if it's a one year guy) that would only leave Moore, Johnson, and Bast!
If they do look for a defenseman in the portal ... I sure hope they're thinking about that.
Or do you bite the bullet, and bring in a pipeline recruit to be the eighth defenseman and develop (and hopefully not need him and burn his redshirt).
Are we sure Jandric and Ferner get Covid years? Neither of the teams they transferred from played the 2020-21 season. I thought the extra year was just for players who played that season.

Haven't seen it mentioned but the next four Regionals go Fargo, Sioux Falls, Fargo, Sioux Falls. If we make the tourny we know where we will be playing. Will be home field for all four.
Omaha is the host in Sioux Falls so UND wouldn’t automatically be placed there.

This has to be one of the grossest frozen fours in a while
I don’t know, the one at the X a few years ago with UMD and 3 Big 10 teams was pretty gross.

Not super surprising. Jashvina, the girl who picked us, writes about the NCHC. My guess is not many of those other writers saw more than a game or two, if that, of UND all season. Plus, UND and ND are tightly matched.
I do find it silly that three writers are picking UMass into the Four and only two of them say Minnesota will win their first game. C'mon lol.
Doesn’t she write about the Big 10? I thought that Avash guy was the NCHC guy.

Not to be that person but…
Didn’t it happen with Nick Schmaltz too? Granted not as late as Jasper, and not the same situation, but wasn’t the chatter that he was going to come back for his junior season until he went to Development camp and the Blackhawks talked to him and then he signed?
