Who are the top uncommitted forwards for next year? Seeing how things are starting for the current recruits, I would think you would need at a minimum one, but more likely two forwards for next years class.

Of the current top scorers in the USHL that are age eligible for college hockey, Nick Moldenhauer (already discussed previously- UND not on his schools list) and Ryan St Louis are the top uncommitted scorers.

It’s so early, so things can change, but outside of Perron, what other forwards appear ready to come in next year? Let’s start by taking Klee and Singleton off the table. Boisvert is not eligible. That would leave Croal (possible), Panzer and Slipec. You would think an extra year would be beneficial for all three of them. Like I mentioned, still early, but it is a bit concerning that only one forward appears to be ready to take that next step. Going to need to make a McLaughlin type splash for next years class.

They originally planned for Croal to play 2 years at Muskegon, but based on how things look now, you’d probably need to bring him in. I’m personally hoping we can pick up an uncommitted forward or two from the USHL so Slipec and Panzer can play another year.

Did you seriously create a login today to go thru this tired argument?

MN hasn’t really had the best of luck lately with recruiting their young local talent, perhaps they need a few older Canadiens to get over that hump? ;)

Minnesota’s goalie Justen Close is 24 years old. From Saskatchewan. So looks like UND is not the only ones with the older Canadians. They seem to forget about this.

Clearly they have decided UND is right and they need to follow our lead. :whistling:

What are they saying?? Clymer was SUCH a clown tonight. Defended the facemask on Cooley and said the GWG was gonna be called back for interference. Absolute trash.

He did say though he was wrong on what they were going to do with Kleven’s penalty so maybe he’s not to be taken seriously

Also lol at myself because I didn’t see the Cooley facemask- I thought it was Knies who grabbed the facemask. :whistling:

    No Johnson. No Costantini.

Hain - extra skater in warmup? Are those players injured or just shaking things up.
That 3rd line is odd. Our fastest skater paired with two of our slowest.

Berry said there would be changes because he felt some guy’s didn’t have a good effort. I am assuming Johnson and Costantini are 2 of those guys.

Hain is going to skate warmups to see if he can go.

how do you get big 10 plus...i have youtube tv with big 10....

It’s an app to stream big 10 content. Just Google it and see what streaming packages there are. Maybe you can get it for free with your YouTube tV credentials.

how does bally's work....buy the app and these two games will be on live?

I’m having my doubts. There’s a free trial for Bally’s so no harm in getting it but everything I’ve seen mentions the game stream as just on big 10 plus.

I've gotten to know Jess over the years, and he's pretty awesome guy. I think he's one of the funnest guys that I've met. I don't think he was trying to be snotty, he was just giving Jost's answer. The replies after Jess's tweet was more snarky.

I personally think the comment to Tyson about all the “Fighting Hawk” fans in town this weekend is stupid considering MSP has one of, if not the largest, UND alumni bases in the country.A lot of UND fans are technically always in town.

Here are my thoughts on the lines against Minny on just what I have seen so far and a bit of commentary on why:

    Gaber          Schmaltz           Blake

    Hain             Senden              Jamernik

    Costantini   McLaughlin        James

Ness            Strinden             Caulfield                   Extra Forward: Kunz/Albrecht

    Frisch           Kleven

    Moore          Jandric

    Sidorski       Johnson

    DeRidder

We have a great wealth on center on this team, but we need the best face off guy with Blake and Gaber, and that is Schmaltz right now.  Defensively this is not a great line, and I would play Kleven and Frisch with them as much as possible.  I could see McLaughlin swapping with Schmaltz, without a lot of issues.  Costantini needs to play on a scoring line, and being with McLaughlin I think is a great way to bring in a little more offense.  Strinden needs to get some more time, and I think this could be a great heavy line.  They may not see a great deal of ice time on the big sheet in Minny (Probably 10-13 minutes of 5x5).  I think Kunz plays Saturday in place of Ness in that swap with Ness.  I had seen a lot of DeRidder the last couple of years and he is a great goaltender.  He will prove that in the future.  The D will get themselves together and I like the Sidorski/Johnson line as Sidorski is a little more defensive minded and can back up Johnson or Bast when he gets back.

I think Ty Farmer will be in the lineup on Defense.

I would also personally rather play 7 D right now instead of an extra forward. Especially while the defense gets figured out.

Those are my thoughts exactly along with the obvious of 19-27-10. I said this weekend after friday night when I thought McLaughlin may have been the best player on the ice that it was inevitable that 9-22-17 found there way on a line together. My only concern is finding James a line. When Berry went to 3 lines on friday night down 3, he put him with 17 and 22 and wasn't out of place.

I actually said during Friday’s game: “Hear me out, a Gaber-McLaughlin-James top line”

I know they have James in the bottom 6 because he’s versatile enough that he can fit there, but it feels like a waste of his talent at times.

So where do you pick them to finish in the league?

That’s the thing. I still pick them 3rd/4th in the league. I do not think Omaha and Western will be as good, and I don’t think CC is quite there to challenge either UMD or SCSU in the top 4.

I don’t think they’ll be bad or anything but with all their turnover I just would not have had them as a top 5 team nationally at this point in the season.
