Tickets for the games at Duluth went on-sale today (ticketmaster).

Anyone have suggestions for hotels for any of the following: New Hampshire Duluth Denver Thanks!
-
Postgame mentioned Zach got number 9 with NJ, looks like he made the team.
-
Audio better now. Sioux down 2 men.
-
Audio is back, still crappy.
-
David Hale scores to put NJ up 1-0. Second goal of the pre-season.

I expect Kessel to put up numbers similar to what Zach did his first year, maybe even better. Offensively, he is more gifted than Zach and that is what we are talking about when we discuss points, not the defensive side of things. He will definitely get a lot of powerplay time and the Gopher powerplay, especially on the big ice, has to be much better than the horrible powerplay we had back when Zach was a freshman. Also, the Gopher non-conference schedule is very soft this year so that will also help his point totals. In addition, there has been some crackdown on the extreme obstuction that Zach encountered on almost every shift. This is also a gopher team that is returning a great deal from the final four team of last year so I expect them to be very good. I think 60 points is almost a given, with a chance at 70-80.

Try contacting the REA ticket office. They have tickets available, at least if you're in the fighting sioux club. I got a few last week and it didn't sound like they had sold very many. Good Luck!

Good call INCH !!! You put together a "dream team" that couldn't even win the WCHA, probably not even a top three finish. Time to go to sleep and dream again. While I realize this is not an "all-star" team, they could only find five WCHA players worthy enough to be on the team? Looks like the CCHA is the conference to beat, they have six players on the team. Maybe the WCHA schools can do a better job recruiting in the future. Maybe Kessell should go Major Juniors now, he already made the "dream team" without ever playing a game, no place to go now but down.

Could it be that the NC$$ is really looking for an "out" on this issue ? I am beginning to think they are hoping that Spirit Lake will restate their support for the name and logo use, then use that as justification for an exemption. They already have plenty of documented support against the name and logo from other tribes. Spirit Lake is the one that supported it back in 2000 but now is wavering and the NCAA knows that. They don't want to use the 2000 resolution knowing that discussions have taken place to revoke. They would again look like idiots if they gave UND the exemption based on the 2000 resolution only to have the tribe pull their support soon after. I am sure the NC$$ would like to avoid the courts on this issue so they need to know where Spirit Lake stands, they will decide the issue. If they come out and officially recind their support, based on the NC$$'s previous press releases I think they will have no choice but to deny UND the exemption. If Spirit Lake reaffirms their support, then the NC$$ can use this as justification to get them out of a court case. It appears the NC$$ is waiting on Spirit Lake prior to ruling on UND's petition. If Spirit Lake reaffirms their support and the NC$$ still denies the petition, then what was the point in waiting on Spirit Lake, they already had the 2000 resolution in hand that supported the name ? So I think that a new resolution will come from Spirit Lake and that will be the tipping point. Which way it goes is anyones guess.

Thanks for the info! I also appreciate the ride offer but I should have a rental. It looks like this hotel is about 10 miles from the arena. I did find a Fairfield Inn that is across the street so I'm not sure which one I'll stay at. If I ask my daughter I'm sure she'll pick the hotel where the team is staying. Thanks again.

Anyone know a good hotel to stay at that is close to the arena ?

If the only way to get an exemption is for all namesake tribal councils to support the use, then obviously UND is not going to get the exemption. This standard certainly leaves open the question of what happens if one tribal council pulls support after the exemption is granted ? Is the exemption pulled immediately ? What happens to respecting the wishes of the tribal councils that want the name used ? That gets shoved out the door as soon as one council opposes. IMHO, UND will not get the exemption. The NC$$ ruled very quickly on FSU, then used that ruling to OK Utah and CMU fairly quickly. The NC$$ may be waiting on Spirit Lake if one tribal council support is enough for an exemption, otherwise it doesn't matter. My guess is they already have ruled against UND and are having the language in the press release reviewed by their lawyers in anticipation of a lawsuit.

It appears that UND is the second school to have filed an official appeal. Having granted FSU's appeal it would seem logical for UND's to be granted also. Unfortunately, I believe the NC$$ will do their best to deny the appeal. Granting it would make it two for two on appeals, one school with support of the tribes and one without support. Once school has a mascot, one doesn't. It would seem to make it very difficult for the NC$$ to deny most any other schools future appeal. There is no way the NC$$ will grant 18 appeals or anything close to that. I believe they will use the fact that the tribal councils do not support the name as THE reason for denying the appeal, although they may give them leeway for the regional since the contract has already been signed. I don't see anyway they will grant the appeal and be able to wordsmith it such that it too is a "special case" but "we are still serious about this issue". The more successful appeals there are, the more they look like the idiots they are, in this case to people on both sides of the issue. The best case I see is that the NC$$ will see the handwriting on the wall and decide to pull the issue off the table for "further review", thereby avoiding appeals from each of the remaining schools. At some point I think they will be looking for "cover" on this issue since it was not well thought out. I do like appeal letter that UND put together. Even if they had the support of one or more tribal councils it may not be in their long-term interests to base the appeal largely on that (i.e, FSU) unless you could be 100% certain this would never change. It seems that every reputable scientific poll suggests the overwhelming majority of Native Americans do not oppose the use of these nicknames, not even close to a sizeable minority in opposition. A society cannot please everyone nor should it attempt to do so.

I'm thinking the Maine games last year were for the 2000-2001 series at the Ralph. Not sure we are "owed" home games with Maine. 2005-2006: at NH home Northeastern My guess for next years games vs. HEA: at Northeastern/BC still owe them each one game? home NH
