Chappell stats after 4 games: 72 carries for 705 yards! 9.8 yards/rush

I don't have a problem with that. If WW doesn't like then too bad, they shouldn't be taking timeouts. What did they want, UND to punt ?
-
Any chance of 700+ yards offense ?

Here is what I could find on tickets for away games: 10/19 BC onsale ?? http://ev9.evenue.net/cgi-bin/ncommerce3/S...er=&appCode= 10/20 NE on-sale 09/04 http://www.gonu.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc...gory_Code=MHTIX 10/26, 10/27 Mich Tech on-sale 09/05 906-487-3200 http://www.michigantechhuskies.com 11/09, 11/10 Wisc on-sale 09/24 http://www.uwbadgers.com/tickets/mhky/home...ickets_213.html 11/30, 12/01 Denver on-sale 09/08 http://www.denverpioneers.com/ViewArticle....;ATCLID=1060324 01/04, 01/05 St. Cloud on-sale 09/17 http://www.stcloudstate.edu/athletics/tickets/default.asp 01/18, 01/19 Mankato on-sale 10/01 http://www.msumavericks.com/sporttickets.p...e=mensports.php 02/01, 02/02 Minn on-sale 09/15 http://www.gophersports.com/ViewArticle.db...;ATCLID=1152168 03/01, 03/02 UMD on-sale 10/02 http://www.umdbulldogs.com/ticketing/ It may be possible to get some tickets to away games from UND. It will depend on demand, how many tickets UND gets allocated, and where you rank in the Fighting Sioux Club. Those with the most points have higher priority in getting tickets. One of the big problems is you might not know until a week or two before the games if you can get tickets, by that time you probably can't get tickets online for games like Minn and Wisc. I updated this with info for Mich Tech. Their ticket office says they go on-sale 09/05 and you need to call 906-487-3200. Not sure if you can buy on the internet. I called the BC ticket office. Was told they haven't finalized their schedule yet, should be done in the next week or so. Tickets will probably go on-sale in two or three weeks. Check the link provided above.

How can a compromise be fashioned ? I have thought for some time that this lawsuit will never go to trial. If nothing has changed (such as additional tribal approval) since the NCAA denied their final appeal and UND filed the lawsuit, how do you compromise on an issue like this ? UND wants to keep the nickname and the NCAA says it is hostile and abusive and is doing everything it can to force schools to change. The only possible compromise I can envision is one where the NCAA allows UND to host post-season events but not allow them to use the nickname or imagery, with the exception of buildings that UND does not own. This would have the main effect of not allowing UND to wear their regular jerseys with the logo during the post-season. If this had been the original NCAA rule then I doubt a lawsuit would have been filed. This allows UND to host post-season which eliminates the competitive unfairness of the original ruling. For the NCAA this takes aways a "big stick" from them to try and get schools to change; however, they don't really need it anymore since almost every school on the original hit list has either changed or received an exemption. IMO, it is highly unlikely that any school that already comitted to changing their nickname would backtrack. For UND, this would allow them to keep the name and host post-season, the biggest cost would be additional post-season uniforms. With the unpredictable outcome of any lawsuit I would guess this would be acceptable since they would get most of what they want and the athletes would not be subject to losing home field advantage that was earned during the season. Other than this I can't see how any compromise can be reached assuming UND is serious about keeping the nickname/logo and wants to ensure their athletes have a fair playing field to compete.

I'm not in favor of shootouts in college, there just aren't enough regular season games to place that much importance on a shootout. The Sioux typically play 8 non-conference games each year and based on the pairwise system these 8 games can already carry more significance than conference games as far as the NCAA tourney seedings go. Do we really want to see shootouts decide these games ? Either leave them tied or play till you get a winner, no shootout.

I am not a fan of government regulation of this type. If someone wants to increase their chance of dying or being seriously injured in an accident then let them. As long as it only physically affects them and not anyone else then the gov. should keep its nose out of it, IMO. Is there an increased cost to society (such as insurance premiums) ? Of course. But that alone should not dictate policy. If so, then maybe we need to fine anyone who is overweight as that definitely drives up medical costs. The list of what the gov. could regulate would never end. I would prefer that the gov. regulation be more of the type where someone is affected by someone elses action, such as secondary smoke. If you want to reduce accidents, then enact laws to ban cell phone use while driving. Can't tell you how many times I have seen people driving eradically and it turns out they are on a cell phone.

In Minnesota you cannot be stopped for not wearing a seat belt. It is a seconday offense, so they have to stop you for something else first. The exception is for children under 12, I believe.
-
I believe the seat belt law in Minnesota is still a secondary offense, which means you cannot be stopped for not wearing a seat belt. Minnesota Seat Belt Law Here is an article from today that says the same thing: Seat Belts

I don't have a problem with BSU but I don't want them added to the WCHA. The WCHA is already too big. IMO, the ideal size is 8 teams so you can play every team 4 times. With the current 10 team league we have an uneven schedule where you only see each team 3 out 4 years at home (excluding the "rival" team). If you make the WCHA an 11 team league and keep the yearly home-and-home with the "rival" team, which is highly likely, then you would only see each team 3 out of 5 years at home. Do you want to trade home games with MN, Wisc, Denver for games with BSU ? I don't. The only other thing that could be done is to increase the number of conference games but that would limit the non-conference games. I don't think this would be good for the fans or for college hockey. With 11 teams the schedule becomes even more unbalanced. The conference championship means less since the schedule you play may be completely different then the schedule the 2nd place team played. Take a look at Notre Dame this past year, they played every team twice and three teams four times - two of the three teams they played four times were the bottom two in the league. Since the CCHA has 12 teams and plays 28 games, each team plays almost half their games (12) against three teams.

I like this quote:

It may be entirely possible that Toews has been strongly considering coming back. I think being named to Team Canada may ultimately be the deciding factor. If he plays well and seems to fit in I would suspect he will sign with Chicago regardless of where he had been leaning previously, assuming Chicago is offering a fair contract (rookie max with plenty of reasonable incentives).
-
My guess is they screwed up and should have said Chorney rather than Lee.
-
Where did the playing time minutes come from ? Is this your estimate ? This can't be actual numbers since everyones % is in 5% increments. If this is not actual numbers then please explain what value this is ? Even if you used actual numbers it counts all playing time the same (even strength, power play, penalty kill), therefore I can't see anything useful in this.

I believe an injury he sustained the first week of the season may have played a big part. I have confidence that he will become a much bigger part of the offense next year. I think we fans maybe don't appreciate enough some of the injuries these players have to play thru. I don't think it came out till mid-season or later that TJ was playing with a broken thumb. Sometimes when you see a player struggling it may be related to an injury that no one is talking about. Once they heal up, the improvement on the ice is usually not credited to the fact they are healthy again.
-
I heard that Chicago wanted Toews to sign last night and have him play in the final two games for them. He said no. Doesn't mean he is staying, probably just means that it was bad timing and that he doesn't want to rush the decision right after his season ended.

I explain ND's improvement this year to playing an extremely easy schedule (#40 in RPI). A better question may be, why, if the schedule last year was similar, didn't Jackson win more than 13 games ? I believe Notre Dame played 17 games against teams in the bottom 20 of the RPI (UND played 0). IMO to win the Spencer Penrose, if you play that type of schedule you gotta do better than one tourney win against a 13-20-3 team (in 2 ots). Now, Jackson may win the award, I just don't believe he should. If the Sioux go on to win the NCAA tourney I believe without question that Hakstol deserves the award. When you look at the players the Sioux lost, the early season injuries, and the turnaround the team made, not to mention the teams that the Sioux will have defeated in the tourney (Mich, Minn, BC, Maine/MichSt) I think there would be no coach as deserving of the award then Hakstol.
