  1. While I don't know the details of him getting booted, if you don't respect the program enough to follow team rules...you f*cking deserve it.
  2. "Why are you wasting your time, there's not going to be a game 6." - Todd Bertuzzi to Wild fans waiting outside the Xcel Energy Center to buy tickets to game 6 before the start of game 4. Well, Bert, how's game 7 for ya? BTW, students...who saw my quote in the Dakota Student about Springfest?? (I'm the guy in the hat, that was a really bad picture).
  3. Also, Parise has been named the UND rookie of the year at UND (this is for all of UND Sports)...who didn't see this one coming?? Spiewak has also been given the male unsung hero award at UND. Which I completely agree with. Spiewak has been THE most underrated player since I've been here. Notes was also given a Sioux Service award. Men's and Women's hockey players combined to take home 6 of the ten awards given out. Male athlete of the year went to Jerome Beasley (basketball)...what about Money??, J/K...I hear this Beasley kid is a pretty decent bball player
  4. They have those...they're called student season tickets. I hate the idea of assigned seats for hockey games for students. It goes back to people not going to games and they're seat is empty. That's ridiculous. Let those of us who wait outside in the sub-zero weather for two hours get our seats tight up front. That's enough of a first come first serve. You must be one of those people that wants to have a good seat, but doesn't want to get to the arena early for games. Tough, buddy. Get there with the rest of us and EARN the good seats. Just because you can camp out for one night doesn't mean you should get the seats you want. You need to earn them each and every game. How would it help keep uncooperative students out anymore than general admin? So, to recap...BAD IDEA. It undermines the TRUE Hardcore fans.
  5. I love this series...the Wild are building a rivalry with Vancouver that will itself rival Detroit-Colorado. I agree that Ruutu, Bertuzzi, and Cooke all need to get popped before the end of this series. I now hate the Canucks too, but this time it is because of the rivalry (like how I hate the Packers and NDSU). I think that everyone, besides New Yorkers, likes seeing the overpaid Rangers suck a golf ball through a garden hose, while trying to play hockey. The only player I like on that team is Mark Messier.
  6. Flatspin brings up a pretty good point. Duluth 3 peated, and Minnesota is the team we don't have a chance against. They play the games for a reason, proof is Anaheim and the Wild. Being that it is a UND team, I agree. We won't be bad for long, and we'll be able to beat anybody, IMO. I am definately no expert on women's hockey. But the Sioux are the Sioux, and I will always cheer for the Sioux.
  7. Not to mention the Rangers and Calgary...I know that Calgary was a 6 seed, but still. And time certainly hasn't been nice to the #8 seed from the West...THE Winnipeg Jets. Ah, yes...hockey nostalgia.
  8. I agree 100%...I had never been to a Sioux game before I came here, and I learned to swear just fine, they're going to learn and use them anyway (there are exceptions), so why not learn at a Sioux hockey game . The responsibility to tell the kids it's wrong falls on the parents, you can't tell me that nobody here didn't swear up a storm in college.
  9. The Wild baby!!!!.....7-2, end of 3!! So, there's not going to be a game 6 eh, Bertuzzi?? As, I believe Panger said, "The Wild knew they could easily be up 3-1 in this series, they played like it today."
  10. For me I feel more into the game when standing, but I agree it doesn't add anymore to the atmosphere just because we stand. The students need to be cheering constantly like the Cameron Crayzies do at Duke basketball games. We can do this sitting down, we would PREFER to stand, but we can do it sitting like we have been TRYING to do. The agreement we had the last few years I feel was good, but the lack of enforcement was the major cause of its failure (not the only cause, but you have to admit it does play a significant roll). So I say this....keep the students where we are, we sit and cheer until exciting moments in the game, then we can stand. Again I would like to stand the whole game, but we need to be respectful of the people in the sections around us as well. I also agree with airmail....NASCAR??, you've got to be kidding me. Hockey is THE most exciting sport in the world, hands down.
  11. What high school did you go to?...To me it would feel like watching a youth hockey game. I remember playing in some small arenas when I was little. But in high school we played in some good sized arenas.
  12. As far as the students staying where they are, in light of current proposals, I am all for it. IF the athletic office accepts the deal where we stay where we are at, but only stand when it is appropriate, I say we take it and run with it. But we will need the help of the arena controlling the students who don't want to comply with the agreement. We can't tell them what to do. What are we going to do?.....drag them outside and beat them until they cry uncle and don't stand? And BTW...there is no way in hell I will boycott due to seating issues.
  13. Could it be the AD's office that is getting greedy? I realize that they may not see more money now from the movement of the students, but what about when UND takes over the Ralph? Could it be that their looking forward into the future...ponder that one for while. I'm not saying that's what's happened, but I'm just looking at things from all angles here, devil's advocate or thinking outside the box if you will. Man, am I on a roll or what !! ...yeah, I know, probably not.
  14. Outside of those who live in the areas of, or went to a college that has D2 football, or even 1AA for that matter...NOBODY CARES ABOUT IT. D2 Championships mean nothing to anyone except those who go to school there. I will concede to the fact that football and (although a travesty) basketball are more watched around the US...but, you can't tell me that a school that has brought home a few D2 National Championships in one of the four major sports (Hockey, Football, Basketball, Baseball), has more national noteriety than one that has brought home 7 D1 National Championships. Nobody outside of people from the Midwest even knows that UND is in Grand Forks, but they know it's there. They all think it's in Fargo, and not because there is a school there too, it's because they've heard of Fargo and are trying to sound smart. I didn't even know where Grand Forks was until I started looking at colleges, but I knew of the University of North Dakota, and as mentioned, not North Dakota State. Bison Kent...nobody is saying that having a good sports team will bring in students directly. But, it WILL let people know, who otherwise might not, that you are there and let them know what you have to offer. I'm also sure there are dozens of Sioux hockey players that have played in the Stanely Cup Finals. None of those names actually ring a bell either, though I don't claim to be as avid a football follower as I am hockey, but didn't the Bills lose those three Super Bowls? ....and WYO...East Coast is where a lot of those hockey states are that you speak of. NY, NH, VT, MA, ME, RI,etc...and I may be mistaken, but I don't think that Clemson is in a very hockey rich area.
  15. Distinct possiblity...Being a former Sioux player he had to know the advantage of having a rowdy student section at ice level. Of course everyone was at ice level when he played . On the flip side though, the man knew how to make a buck. I think next year we are definately in for some interesting times.
  16. Are you trying to tell us something Sicatoka......................?? I thought the AD's office was supposed to fight for the students, not against us.
  17. Yeah, the rest of the game was called pretty consistantly from my point of view. I seem to remember Mike Goldberg saying something about how it was something other than the replay we saw, but I still don't remember seeing it, and they said that it wasn't consistant to the way the game had been called so far. Oh, well what's done is done, looks like the Wild will ahve to come from being back 3- again to win the series...anyone know if a team has ever come back from being down 3-1 twice in the playoffs? Walz for Selke!!! Lemaire for Jack Adams!!! I'd also like to see either Naslund or Brodeur get the Hart...and I still say Fernandez got screwed out of the Vezina
  18. Let's be honest here...which college is more known throughout the country, UND or NDSU? I've known about UND since I was a little kid. Why? Because of the D1 hockey team. I had never heard of NDSU until I visited here as a junior in high school, and saw an article in the Dakota Student about the UND-NDSU football game. Why would the ND Legislature not want funds to go to the number 1 recognizable team in the state (Sioux D1 Hockey)? It sounds bias...but it's true. If it had not been for Sioux hockey I would never have even considered coming to UND.
  19. What was with that even-up hooking (or was it high-sticking) call on Andres Zyuzin towards the end of the 3rd, 45 seconds or so into the Wild PP on the Bertuzzi boarding call. I thought it was kind of suspect myself, as I didn't think what he did was hooking. I'm not one that blames the refs, and I am not doing so now, it's jsut an observation. The Wild NEED to do a much better job of clearing the puck out of their zone if they have any hope of still winning this series. That was the major problem I saw in tonight's game. Did anyone else hear Greenlay and Goldberg hint that Trent Klatt might be in a Wild jersey next season?
  20. Yet another Fighting Sioux Alum proving himself in the NHL...Way to go Blake!!!
  21. Just a note on the 1999-2000 Wisconsin, that would be a +42 But, I agree that we need to be at least a +35 or 40 to win the WCHA. I would like to see that +66 like in 1998-99!!!
  22. And Jim....I say bring on the 'Noles. What's with these hockey meetings in Florida? I think it's a cover so that the coahces and officials can get some vacation time. I got 50 says their "meetings" were at a bar or sitting by the pool. Damn they live a hard life
  23. The way I understand this is that the lottery is voluntary to sit in section 110. But, if I am wrong and they pick however many random students, what if you don't want to sit in 110? Are you SOL on season tickets??
  24. Congratulations to the women's team for getting a conference this quickly (cough, NDSU, cough) They should be able to compete in a few years for a conference title and I should hope that they have the same success as the men's team in the WCHA. What's the info on this Alexia Laplante girl.....she hot? haha...I know, I'm shallow
