if playing with and edge with a little more emotion is what gets this team going, how about during the new hampshire series if we happen to win on friday night, break out the black jersys on saturday just to get a little more pep in the guys seeing they seem to play thier best in the black ones anyway.

best we can hope for is third I think as denver and cc are out of our reach unless somthing really bizzare happens. it's really sad to say that for a program with some much rich tradition that we have to set our sights on a third place finish. and unless they start to come out ready to play every gasme even that might be a stretch. it's just so mind boggling that with our biggest rival in town we come out flat for both games.

does anyone know exactly what part of the lower body oshie was hurt? I can't imagine it was his knee, if it was I don't think they would have let him come back out and play.

this weekend the sioux will have no few than 20 penalty min a game and the gophs will have no more than 4 as the WCHA will make sure it's poster school gets all the help it can to get back on track. I wouldn't be surpirised if there is a 5 minute 5 on 3 for the gophs with oshie and duncan both being called for bogus checking from behind calls just to make sure the gophs get all the help they need.

cautiously optimistic should be the key phrase for us. as I remeber 2 years ago we were coming into this series playing very well coming off a sweep at tech and the gophers were limping in coming off a sweep by the badgers at the john and nobody was giving them a chance at that time either and look what happened. they swept us to start our 2 year run of bad decembers.

I don't know it it's been said before, but I think it would be cool if the Sioux came out in their green jerseys on friday to keep with the theme.

it is time for the boys to go to work tonight and it starts with the opening face off. outwork the pioneers every shift win the battles to loose puck, keep your feet moving and for god's sake shoot he puck. clog up the area around mannino so he can't see and puck luck will happen but we need to make it happen. quite dancing around the perimeter and move towards the net. from this point forward we need to be known as the hardest working team in WCHA not the most talented and this ship should get turned around. Go Sioux!

if we really want to put a positive spin on this technically we didn't split with mich state at home and lets just call it a 1 game sweep.

one thing that scares the hell out of me this weekend is the offensive explosive capability that the pioneers have. if we play like we did this past weekend I could easily see them putting a 6 or 7 spot(s) on us. we've allowed way to many odd man rushes this year and to date have been fortunate we haven't been burned. but defensive lapses this weekend will kill us.

probably green jersey friday and saturday unless they lose friday then it will be black on saturday, just like at tech and wisconsin.

If that is true, good. but maybe hak should have had them do that right after the game. many moons ago when I was in sports if we didn't play up to par my coach would run a practice after the meet.

I know it's early but I think any hopes of winning the WCHA are slim, cc essentially has a 4 game lead on us and we can't make up any ground if we keep splitting. that lead one would assume would grow this weekend with us going to denver and cc heading to aa. I think it is more realistic that we focus on a 2-3 place finish which should get us a good 2 seed(hopefully not paired up with cc in the regionals). at this point in time we just need to figure out a way to play more consistent and figure out a way to get a sweep here and there. 6-4-1 is acceptable but it could be way better. there is nothing we can do about the past and need to put all our emphasis on finding a way to get at least one win this weekend. Someone on another thread suggested splitting up duncan and oshie and maybe somehow form 2 dynamic lines instead of one, that might not be a bad idea, but hak knows what he is doing and after last year I said I wouldn't question him again.

Sioux will get a split at best, Du 4-3 friday, Sioux 5-2 saturday-these frickin splits are killing me and I don't see an end in sight anytime soon(unless god forbid they get swept at denver).

actually I need to take full responsability for this loss. I wore my white sioux jersey to see if I could break the bad karma it has and it didn't. the Sioux are 1-7 over the last five years when I wear it. this puts me in a spot being saturday the 8th is white out night and that is the only white pc of Sioux clothing I have, I might need to spring for a new jersey before then.
