  1. True, just look at our games against the Michigan schools last weekend. Our D never bumps them off the puck or out of position.
  2. Its great to see your program have the success they have had so far. It is great for the sport. I can't remember your coaches name..... I hear he is the right guy to build the program. Hopefully this develops into a rivalry like the men. It would be great if they could make a weekend of men and woman's hockey in the same arena. No one can or should argue that UND's program and its success is great for the league and sport.
  3. Nobody likes statistics that say what they don't want to hear. Statistics are a record that can be used to predict, not shape the future. I think we all agree we would rather the teams play the games for selfish reasons. Especially Jan. 9th and 10th.
  4. Maybe it's the least expensive route and with the holiday and no classes the time is available to them to take the extra travel time?
  5. Whoa, there hard-ass. Take your panties out of a bunch. Your the type that pushes the Sioux fans bad rep. How do you explain losing to the god awful team at home? by 3 goals? Its just predictions based on what has happened so far, it doesn't mean anything, just a talking point. Sioux 2.5 GPG and giving up 3.2 GAA in conference Wisco 3.25 GPG and 3.08 GAA. Hmm. I can see where I am the idiot. Where is your final standings?
  6. Before you get all in a tizzy...I went through the "What if" and came up with the following based on what has happened thus far, this year I had figured the Gophers would start slow and finish fast based on youth and schedule. They have to get more balanced scoring to remain on top. AA has been a nice surprise. Mankato, SCSU and Wisconsin have been disappointments because of the inconsistencies for me. I thought UND would start slow and maybe make a typical UND late surge. I don't see it when Mankato, @AA, CC and @Wisco are your final four series. 8 points would be a very successful run there I think. Tech is the only likely sweep. Again, this is based on what I have seen so far. BE has been solid in the net and better than I thought he would be coming into the year. If he can make the progression similar to Kangas last year, I could see you getting to the 5th spot. Gotta score to win games. Gophers fought that every weekend last year. Even they got into the tourney and that's all that matters, new season. I have a split in the Gopher/Sioux series. WCHA Final Team GP Pts UMN 28 41 CC 28 37 Denver 28 37 Mankato 28 33 AA 28 28 UW 28 26 UND 28 25 SCSU 28 24 UMD 28 16 MTech 28 13 Rip away...lets see your standings too.
  7. I agree 100%! Sorry, Goon. These people that are at a hockey game and get upset when someone gets up to cheer, irritate the crap out of me. I understand non-students should sit to watch the game for the most part. However, when something exciting happens..great hit, pass or move in the neutral-zone is as impressive as one near the goal mouth and reason to stand. True fans appreciate the little things and should stand to acknowledge them. Nothing wrong with cheering the nuances of the game as well as the goals. Waiting list for gopher season tickets since 96 (almost to the top ) . When I see empty seats and people sitting when great plays and goals happen, makes me wonder how much the schools care about fan and student body experience. Get better seats or watch from home. Your lame ass is ruining it for me. Yes, I know not everyone can stand for numerous reasons. Not the target here.
  8. Let's just tell gopherz that Gregoire scored. He will be so hungover tomorrow after that football game he wont care to check. All In favor.. Aye.
  9. Because the Gophers are on TV most weekends, I haven't seen as much as I would like. They play at the Mid-America Center. Lincoln is only an hour away from my house too.
  10. You guys are going to love this group. Cichy is fun to watch, I think Kristo is "the" guy in this group. Needs this USHL season and then he steps right in.
  11. Marshall gave his verbal to the Gophers last night, per Hammy's Blog http://gopherpuck.blogspot.com/
  12. You nailed it, AZ. The Gopher power-play is in need of work. They had some chances, like last year and they couldn't score. That's the only stat I care about. I think with so much specialty team play last night, the Gophers have a huge advantage with the skill depth going into tonight. Kohl is always a tough place to get 2 pts any night. The PP and scoring will come. Kangas is the real deal, he will be in maroon and gold for 3 yrs. I didn't see him tested much in the 2nd and third. I don't see him being leaned on as much as I see a good forecheck and better defensive positioning because of experience and Hastings style(Wehrs, Anderson and Fairchild). While I will disagree on the Gophers not having anyone outside of Lucia that is physical. I will say I noticed quite a few times in WCHA play this year, members from many teams hold up going into the boards and corners, even in open ice. They aren't making the big hit as much, I believe because of all the penalty's.Teams are in an advantage or already short and don't want to compound or nullify their advantage I hope that changes, the physicality comes back, when the play is more 5 on 5 after the holidays. Do you guys think they are calling cross-checking and boarding more than checking from behind this season? Seems to me they would have called CFB quite a few times in the 8-10 games I have watched last year as opposed to this. What happened to SCSU? I understand JW didn't play, but you talk about the Gophers struggling to score. I thought CC would handle Clarkson, have to love college hockey. Nice to have hockey back. Must suck to have a bye week already.
  13. You missed my point entirely. You need to separate emotions from fact. I was saying he has other things to worry about than people razzing him at a hockey game. Any Gopher fan gets razzed at REA. I am all for red marks. I am all for telling kids that are 14 years old, they suck at football, basketball, hockey or baseball and should try something else. That is why I cant coach anymore. The entitlement of kids and parents today makes me ill. I didn't say he deserved sympathy. I just don't understand the outrage because he roots for another team. It's not about the cocaine offense for a lot of these posts, that is just the means to an end.
  14. If you really believed in Karma, you wouldn't have posted that. Not on the topic of Puffy specifically but...When did being a D-bag become the accepted norm in society and being a "good guy" become the rarity? So many people so eager to bring someone down nowadays. There are 5 pages because a guy got busted for Coke. And all the anger against people who support him as a friend or fellow human being. Anger derived from making jokes about another city or University. Telly, you have hatred towards some guy because he makes fun of you, your city or your school? He has more important things to worry about than having idiots ride him about his misdeeds. Besides, isn't that what guys do with friends? Giving each other sh*t all in good fun? If Oshie or Toews do great things in the community, It hardly gets the pages, more importantly, draw anywhere near the emotion that a radio host that most don't know, gets for having poor judgment. In all seriousness people, take the time and energy you spent hounding someone you hardly know if at all and spend it in a more socially productive way. Read a book for cripes sake. Its not only Sioux, Gopher or Huskie fans. Its just the world in general. It makes me ill I have 3 kids and this is what they have to look forward to and what I have to protect them against. Off rant.
  15. So do you guys think this is a good time for a week off or would you rather get back at it on Friday and build off of the last period of hockey?
  16. I would wait a little bit before saying Dubers is on meth. If your only info is a link in the paper, you're miss-informed. Leave it alone and talk hockey.
  17. This would suck in my opinion. Although I am not intrigued at the thought of going to watch my squad play in front of 2400 people out east. Not a concern the next two years because of Minneapolis regional sites. I really don't like this E v W idea to save some cash when they make millions off of Basketball and Football. I think this would diminish the Final Five and all league tourneys and would cause an out of conference schedule most fans wouldn't like. I hope the WCHA is successful in coming up with a better solution. Tweak the existing criteria, Krach seems to always have better match ups anyways, IMHO. Don't make it East vs. West. For once NCAA, lets think about the sport and not your pocketbook. Raise the ticket prices $5 a seat and make better looking shirts, hats and alike. There, I just solved your problem. Quit f'ing with my favorite sport.
  18. I requested an upgrade last year and got it. I went from 2nd row from the top on one end, to sec 104 row 9. Not sure if history meant anything. This will be my 6th year at the Final Five. It does work.
  19. I have a chance to sit in a suite this year. The trouble is, the guy that gets it is a Sioux fan, as are most of the other guys. Bunch of drunks that get belligerent and root against the Gophers harder than they root for their team. Ain't that right Spuds?
  20. AZ, I have time, let me know. Closed Circuit to Miles Brand ,,!,,
  21. Typical arrogant gopher fan I have it on the Wii, picking your spots is very easy on the Wii. I have only played 8-10 games. I might work on a gopher team this weekend. NHL2009 is a must have for hockey fans.
