RT could not offer the position to DH until it had passed through all the channels. That usually take a day or two following the interviews in the very best of circumstances. The only thing he could have done would be to talk to him in generals,( ie.. you have a very good chance, since there will not be any other qualified internal applicants - here's the salary range and benefits we are looking at, ect.) Therefore, the source is not quite perfect in telling their tale to the herald. If RT had offered the position to DH early, there could be real big legal problems with EEOC and RT is way to smart to do something like that. I have seen the person selected not offered the position once it gets to affirmative action or personal for someother reason that the department overlooked so there is no way RT would offer a position early. That's just what I know from personal experience. Again, PCM is much closer to the truth than the Herald in this matter but who will be our coach is still up in the air at this point.

I have hired many people at UND. You must go internal first. My experience is that if you only have one applicant, you are not able to do a proper search and it must go then either be readvertised internally, or go external. If that is the case, the internal applicant will be looked at with the external applicants. From my experience, PCM's story is very credible and sounds exactly like what I would expect due to the procedures UND has in place for all positions of this nature. I would be very suprised if they hired with only one resume but then you never know what can happen.

I whole heartly agree that the National Athem should be sung as written and not turned into something else. At the UND Music Dept. if one of their students is singing it, they are instructed by the professors to sing it right so others can sign along. On the north end of the Ralph, the crowd participation is extremely good and we all yell home of the "SIOUX" - proudly and I have a nephew serving so I would never do something to disrespect his sacriface.

There are no excuses good enough for the behavior we suffered last weekend. It was bad in the arena, at the hotel, in the streets and in the bars/eating establishments. I believe that having it year after year in the same spot causes a lot of these problems. More and more of the same teams fans go and less and less traveling fans. By moving it around, it would help to balance those numbers. We should all expects some taunting, here or away but we should never have to feel that our personal safety is in jeopardy. While I don't believe that the Ralph is big enough to host, there are other cities that could.

This was the worst ever. I could not believe the abuse we had to take from the Gopher fans, at the Arena, the hotel, the restraurant, the streests, etc... I had beer thrown at us, called names, you name it. What a bunch of idiots.

There are 6 of us and we plan on attending all the games.

I hope they let you bring the signs. I felt so bad for that little boy when they took his signs but even worse when they took his flag. We had so many problems with the Target center that year. They wouldn't let us bring the little guy down to our first row seats - they took his stuff, his Dad finally picked him up and ran down the steps when they weren't looking so we could sit in our seats but never did get his stuff back. Pretty tacky....

Do the Ralph/Excel one. That really made me laugh. I have a serious question though. A couple of years ago we went with some friends and they had a son in a wheelchair. He had a UND flag on the back and we had some signs. They took it all away from us stating that you could not have signs at tournaments. I have not tried since then to bring them in to the Excel/Target Center... Has the policy changed? I hate to see you do all the work only to have them taken away.

They got one from me also. This is just plain stupid. If the precious gophers were playing, they would be showing it.

According to Dean Blais I doubt any one will be leaving early. At the Sioux Boosters lunch he's pretty sure the NHL is going to be on a walkout next year.

If UAA and Duluth hang on , hopeful the Gophers will change thier name to GO HOMe after Duluth beats them in the semis

The cards were given away before a couple of games this year. They were/are not allowed to sell the cards since the are pictures of college hockey players. I talked to someone at the Ralph to see if they had anymore of the cards and they don't, they were all given away.

Thanks PC. Great job as always. Sure hope Prpich is better by next weekend and Brady better get rookie of the year. Irman isn't even close. That said, I believe the costs are closer to $3500 for the band to make the trip. The bus is extremely expensive - and you need two nights rooms and board for the players. The band should be there. They practice all year, they are at every game, but no money to send them to the tournament. How fair is that? I sincerely hope that the higher ups at UND take notice and look for changes for this group in the future.

I talked to a person who's son is in the pro's and he said that Zach won't go this year due to the strike, which in his opinion, will happen. The only way the Devils will make Zach go is if the situation with the ref's doesn't improve. If he is risking injury every time he is on the ice due to bad officiating, they will pull him no matter what the strike situation is.
