  1. I hope Dean and his family can feel the love and support that they have in Grand Forks during this terrible time. God bless their family.
  2. Oops - nice error though, - or "fuel' for thought.... Just kidding.
  3. Does anyone know what the penalty box will be offering for the $5 per person? Is the $5 just to get in the door and if so will you be able to buy food and beer? Will there be seating or is it SRO only?
  4. I hope they think about going back to the old way. The benefits far outway the problems. People ordered pizza, cooked on little grills, burned coaches, danced partial naked, partied, froze their fingers and toes, had a good time and then were the best hockey fans in the country. The students loved it, had a great time and then caused the other fans in the building to respond in kind, the arena loved it cause their sales and attendance was at a premium, the area business benefited, an the team loved it cause they had the best fans around. Who didn't benefit? I was there when the problem children caused the problems at REA when it first opened. A couple of bad apples spoiled it for everyone. I think REA should find a way to deal with "the problem children" and let us return to the ways of old.... Just thoughts from a old fart!
  5. I wish we could go back to what we did at the old Ralph. Students stood in line the day of the game and first come first serve or in later years they picked them up that day at the ticket office. What seats didn't get used were sold to the public after the first period was half over. This way if you don't get tickets for one game, there was always the next one. It use to be just about as much fun in line as the game - and we were/are huge hockey fans. One of the reasons the student season tickets happend was so they could control the bad behaviors by removing the offenders for the season. Our students are doing great and I think it is time to change back.
  6. It is my understanding that the Penalty Box will be closed during the game and only open pregame and between periods. I also got the Sioux Club letter regarding the North and South lounge closing to all but the people who hold those tickets. Personally I agree with this policy and if the Penalty Box is closed during the game, I think this a good change for everyone. I have never heard anything about the new bar being open during the game, just the pregame stuff with prizes and stuff.
  7. Not true. The band will be there - I can 100% guarantee that the band will be there. They will not be at the Oct. 2nd game due to schedule conflicts but they will be at all games that school is in session.
  8. I too love that place. Just walking in the door makes me smile. The seats, view, and especially hockey are the best. The only two complaints I would have are: 1. Sound system: the sound bounces off the glass and makes it impossible to understand Hennen. Those of us in the lower section behind the goalie can not understand 90% of what is being said either by the announcer or on the big screen. 2.Yearly changing of prices and what you get for your fighting sioux club. The word out now is that the bars on both ends are closed to all except ticket holders for club seats. While I agree that it must be tough for those people with seats in the bar, again I lose something but are required to pay more. I also see that as a coaches club member I no longer get the media guide. I feel like we get nickeled and dimed to death. Pay more but get less.... I go there for the hockey, but they are pricing most people out of the arena and that is really too bad as there are wonderful Sioux fans at all income levels. - In summary, stablize the prices, and what each club level receives. When we said we wanted to get our tickets again, nothing was mentioned about changes so it feels like we paid for something and got something less...... Sorry but You asked!
  9. My seats are directly behind the goal but protected by the glass. I have seen people get hit that are WERE watching the game. When that puck comes flying the normal person can not react that fast. To say if you get hit you are not paying attention is not at all accurate. If this will protect even one person from getting hurt, then it is worth it. I think that REA is doing the responsible thing. Good for them.
  10. When I was in the Varsity CLub, my card said Varsity on it and we were not allowed in there. When we went to Coaches club, the card just said my name but not the club level. What I heard from someone at Engelstad is that my new cards will all say my name on them and I can give them to whoever to gain access into the clubs. I think it is going to be coaches club and above only in there before the games but not sure about the intermissions and following the games. We should know in a couple of days either way for sure...
  11. I have it from a 100% reliable source that the tickets are being packaged up to be mailed this Sunday. We should have all of our answers soon......
  12. Are you sure this isn't the Katie O'Keefe thing?
  13. Here is what I have understood: FSC members will be able to enter the bars with their cards. I have four season tickets so I will receive 4 passes that will allow access into the bars. I think that only coaches club and above get the passes and those that buy the bar seats.
  14. Bochenski might not be leaving as reported. I heard from a reliable source that he is leaving only if the price is right. They offered him 300.000.00 but he was looking at a millon, thats a big spread.
  15. Wow, he will really round out our coaching staff well. I am glad to see an offensive person added. This should prove to be an interesting year....
  16. I think both Jordan and Jake did well. But I still think that the rotating did a number on both of them. I remember Brandt getting three shutouts in a row two years ago and then sitting on the bench for 3-4 games. It has to be hard to stay mentally alert if you are in that situation. I wonder if Dave will do the same thing or stick with one...
  17. When Eades was playing, what position did he play?
  18. Ok already - stop with the emails!! Apparently I didn't come across successfully. I do think Jordan is a GOOD goalie, but I think that the constant switching between two for the past three years messed with their heads and with the changes this year, it will be very tough for Jordan mentally. I just wondered now that Dean and Zach were both gone if Brandt wouldn't get more time for this year, graduate then the job goes to Jordan.... Lamoureux will have to work for it to beat them out but it sounds like he stands a shot. As far as the defense, they are all VERY good but we can't consistanly play all of them so someone will be odd man out. In all reality I would guess it would change each game but with Bina being a GF kid, I am a little baised towards him and hope that he will get lots of playing time. Just because someone doesn't agree with my opinion doesn't mean you should be nasty... Chill out. This is supposed to be a discussion board, and we can all have our own opinion without someone going ballistic when you don't agree... Jeez, it's not like I am a gopher fan...
  19. Ok, have to throw my two cents in also. Stafford, Murray, and Genoway Porter, Zajac, and Spirko McMahon, Pripch, and Fylling (too good to split up) Kaip, Massen and Fabian (Canady really needs to step up his game to be in the lineup) D Schneider and Bina Jones and Greene Radke and Fuher (Smaby would be put in with whoever's partner is not performing.) Goaltending BRANDT!! Lamoureux as back up. (With Zach gone, I don't think Jordan will get the playing time)
  20. Great job again PCM.
  21. I would be suprised if Steve Johnson did not get the job. If I'm not mistaken, he was a foward and DH and BB were both defense. Johnson has experience in coaching and wants to move to UND. It sounds perfect. I don't think DH is worried about an heir apparent and is looking at the best coach to add to his staff. I truly believe it will be Johnson when all is said and done sitting (standing) on the bench this fall with Hasktol and Berry. What a great staff that would be>
  22. Johnson was on WDAZ this weekend and said that he would be very interested in the job at UND and would love to move back to Grand Forks. He and his family still consider Grand Forks home. Did anyone else see this interview? It left no doubt in my mind that he would take the job if offered it and that he had definately applied.
  23. Any idea the conference will be on the radio and if so 1310 or 96.1 I am stuck at work this afternoon but want to hear what they have to say.
  24. PCM - you do a great job. When I see a post or information from you, I know that I can believe it and repeat it without looking like an idiot.... Keep up the good work and thanks!
