  1. I understand what you are saying and I agree with you. Hiring Hak or Dane is the "safe" bet that Chaves can make, but will he? This hire will make or break Chaves's time here at UND, hockey is THE sport that UND has and cannot miss on this. Will he take the safe bet and hire from within, or will he gamble and hire a younger coach that is moving through the ranks? I will say this though, no matter what happens, I do feel that Karl's time here at UND should be done also. I'm not sure why he has gotten a pass as long as he has (lets be real, it's because he is family) as he was brought here with the hopes of developing goalies and various of other reasons.
  2. I was thinking Coach Reilly. He sure knew how to get those blue chip players, even if that meant breaking district line rules.
  3. Don't you know that all sources come out of Judy's
  4. But according to @siouxboys he doesn't have any experience. At the end of the day, we can as fans can wish for whoever. It is time for a new voice, and I am putting a lot of faith in Chaves to find the right individuals.
  5. In all your babble, you never mentioned any names. If you are referring to Smaby and CSC, they have recruiting, player development and coaching experience. Does that necessarily translate to automatic success, no it does not. However, it does bring a whole new way of thinking to a program that has been treading water for some time now. It's not an obscene way of thinking; you're too much of a dolt to understand that.
  6. Chaves didn't hire Sweigert of Berry.
  7. Same can be said about all of us fans. We are not 100% sure on what the program needs either. We can throw out ideas on who we want but at the end of the day, they are our opinions and nothing else.
  8. But Berry and crew didn't develop T.J., he was a portal goalie with D1 experience already.
  9. Lots will "apply", it will be the same process that was done for football.
  10. Are you being serious or are you that dumb?
  11. As much as I hate McFeely, he is right. He isn’t one to brush something under the rug and I have to give that to him.
  12. Look at that 2011-2012 team. Injuries depleted them all season long but they won the wcha tournament. Mind you, their captain at the time was what a UND captain should be. That’s what made Hakstol a good coach, getting 110% out of all his players.
  13. Berry will get his full 400k+ salary but I’m not so sure about Mallory since she “stepped” down
  14. 1st order of business. How not to get stuck in an elevator with an opposing team player when you have to take a piss.
  15. Ya, you could cross about 3/4 of those names off the list. This is typical Schlossman "reporting".
  16. Greene has been silently working in scouting and player development for the kings since he was bought out of his contract. As much as I'd like to see him come coach, he just doesn't have the time built up and IF hired, he will be destined for failure (not from his own doings either). Jeff Blashill is an interesting candidate that has had his name thrown around though.
  17. I don't think it excludes him like we would think. It just means that he will have to go through the process like anyone else, nothing wrong with that and I actually find that to be a more thorough way of vetting the next coach. This is a make or break hire for Chaves, so he has to nail it. If Dane is the guy, so be it but at least Chaves left no stone unturned.
  18. You are probably way to young to know, so I'll give you a pass.
  19. If that were the case, no one would be available except for retreads (Hak, Jackson, Karl, etc.). The game has changed and it starts with finding a talented young coach(s) that can get out and recruit/relate to these young players.
  20. 1. he isn't coaching in Fargo, Brett Skinner is the coach. 2. if you haven't heard by now, it's no use in explaining it to you.
  21. It's just like the football hiring process. They named an Interim coach but then a few days later they had Schmidt. These two major coaching hires are the most crucial hires of his career at UND. It seems like he hit the nail on the head with Schmidt, so let's see who he comes up with for hockey. If he misses on either one of these hires (time will tell), I am of firm belief that he will be gone.
  22. Nope. There is a reason Hak didn't renew his contract back the first time.
  23. I was never in on Firing Hak as I thought it was pretty stupid. What happened with Berry is what I feared the most. We sold our soul out for 1 national championship and the rest of the years of mediocrity.
  24. I would assume it will be like how the football application process went.
  25. The large donors had to know that this was coming. With early out of conference losses against teams far less superior than UND's program, it was only a matter of time. Attendance was starting to dwindle and revenue had to have been suffering too.
