    I could see Hakstols NHL contract being on the smaller side of a base but higher on incentives (i.e. Wins, Making the Playoffs, Winning Playoff games/series, conference finals appearance, Stanley cup finals appearance, etc.....)

    no i am just pointing out the difference between the two players. Greene comes back to grand forks without the stanley cup just to be around the program and the city. Toews on the other hand hasn't been back in grand forks since he dropped the puck the following year he left. edit: he brought it to Winnipeg both times but since he is a Captain he gets two days with it

    no biggie. not that it matters but i wonder is how long of a head coach he was in the UHL? didn't their actual head coach pass away during the season and barry melrose take over? my memory is shot too

    jackson was a assistant coach in the AHL and a head coach in the UHL for the adirondack frostbite...

    im happy for certain 2-3 year players that win the Stanley cup. Toews has won the cup twice and has yet to make a pit stop on his way home to Winnipeg, let alone go back to grand forks. Matt Greene on the other hand has a deep affection for grand forks and UND and goes back even without the cup....

    he has been the student video coordinator for UND since that time...I know he recently just finished law school

    I get what you are saying, I'm sure it did come down to money on the final try. Who really knows though....

    I thought PP Lammy would be a huge stretch but like I said in another thread, its Brads ship..... Someone that comes to mind for me is Tyler Palmiscino......

    Not sure what you mean by all of this but I'm just saying that his players might have had an idea that he was getting a few sniffs from an NHL club.....

    He turned them down twice, I am sure the players knew something was going on....

    Hak's style of coaching resembled more of an NHL style game....

    He goes back to GF every summer, so there is nothing "behind the scenes" going on. I wouldn't be surprised if you see him as a coach one day though....

    I think we all would have known what would have happened had they opened the search nationally; see the last job that was opened nationally....

    I believe that Blais was suppose to get the head coaching job in Columbus after spending the first year as an associate. This just goes to show how good of a coach Hak really is, not many college hockey coaches leave the college ranks and jump into the NHL. We always knew that Hak was well respected in the NHL circles. Best of luck to him!

    Is it a difficult concept to understand that even though they leave early, they are never done working towards a degree? It is nice to know that UND is still willing to help them after they leave....

    Is it okay to say UNDPROUD to Rocco now? I mean he did graduate after taking a full course load while playing professional hockey.....
