I can’t see in any scenario where Karl is retained, Dillion on the other hand is questionable but my gut says no. He needs to bring in “his” guys. also, if the new HC wins a natty next year, are we going to give credit to Berry like we have to Hakstol?

Is Duluth really falling though? If we are going to take the past 10 years of Berry's time here let's at least compare the last 10 years of Duluth. They are 3 years removed from a regional final and 4 years removed from a FF birth and had a high probability of being the first team to 3 peat the year covid shut us down. I don't think the wheels are falling off as fast as they have at UND.

Been to Ann Arbor many a times as I have family out there. Very nice city and UofM campus is very nice.

Wife and daughters live in Vegas, so I am assuming he rents a small apartment in Grand Forks.

Yea the school is great and so are the facilities but getting them to understand what North Dakota is really about take a special individual. I am not saying we can't do it because we sure have shown in the past that we can, but it takes the right coach to be able to sell that. Bringing in someone that hasn't been to Grand Forks and expecting them to sell it to a player is going to be hard thing.

It's hard and it's even harder when one of your staff members doesn't even have a permanent home with his family in Grand Forks.

True but we all know he was fired. 3 straight years of 7/8th place and first round wcha knockouts were not cutting it and they made the move before it got worse. You probably remember this, but you couldn't give tickets away those final three years of his time here.

Jackson has recruited a lot of great players and has an understanding on how to "sell" North Dakota to a kid. That is the big part that is missed in all this. Yes, we have the best facilities and 120% backing from alumni and the fans but you have to know how to sell a kid on coming to North Dakota.

Not sure how long you have been on SS but I would take whatever gfhockey says with a grain of salt. He gets distracted at Judy's a lot, especially when the wheel is on.

If they were blindsided by this, then they were part of the problem too. Even a blind person could see what was going on.

No but he was an assistant before he got the HC job.

Is it though? Maybe it's not that coaches aren't interested in it, maybe it's just the fact that UND hasn't hired an outside voice in over 30 years for a HC and the one coach they did hire that wasn't from UND, they let go after 4 years. Also, there could be a lot of interest in the job but with North Dakota's open records law, they don't want to apply because they want secrecy, and they are getting around it by vetting candidates before they technically apply.

Who the F$&7 cares if it’s a “big name”, I just want results and none of us on here can confidently say that they know who will get those results.

I would think they do this exactly how they did football. I’m sure there are some coaches out there that want to apply but don’t want it to be known.
