I had the opportunity to chat with Coach Woog 2-3 times over the years, including an hour-long conversation somewhere around 2004-2007 at Joe Senser’s in Bloomington during a Sunday night WCHA opening round series between North Dakota and Mankato. I told him that despite my disdain for the Gophers, I truly wished he had coached a national champion. He said in reply, “thanks...that means a lot to me, especially coming from a North Dakota fan.” My condolences go out to the Gopher hockey family tonight. I’m sorry for your loss. God bless you, Coach Woog.

This comparison shows me how bad the hem and sleeve stripes are on the new set. That 2011 white jersey is almost perfect with the thinner white stripes, but the black jersey is overwhelmed by the thicker stripes. That top green stripe almost touches the lettering in DAKOTA and the number 19 on the back seems scrunched into the space available. Fix that issue alone and the 2018-2019 black jersey would look infinitely better.

Well, truth be told, Jim Montgomery came to me a couple of days ago and asked me to make a list of the hardest working to the least hardest working player on the Trainwreck roster. I handed in my list to Monty and evidently @Godsmack was personally told yesterday that he ranked #23 out of 23 - with an asterisk by his name and the note, “I would rank him 25 out of 23 if I could! He’s so lazy, he asks the guy next to him in the locker room to crack open his post-game beer.” Coincidentally, Monty is fired hours later. Or maybe NOT coincidentally? You be the judge.

It's a good thing that the Bowbells Eskimos and Sheldon Shadows are in the scrap-heap of North Dakota nickname history, eh?

I've always been a fan of "less is more" when it comes to hockey jerseys. The BU and Notre Dame home jerseys come to mind quickly.
