  1. I think it would be AWESOME if someone could convince Al's bus to make the trek. If I had advance notice of this, perhaps I could get the Hoggsbreath to put together some sort of late breakfast buffet or something. Someone with connections to Al, make it happen!
  2. Ouch. The Wild vs Blue Jackets game on the 19th is at 1:00 pm. If we keep the Hoggsbreath get-together an 11:00 am brunch, you might be able to pull that off. Any later and it's a no-go.
  3. Some of the kids used to tease Shawn and me at the practices and games, but you'd probably be surprised to know that several of the hard-core Gopher fans in the bunch have now turned into Sioux fans.
  4. Thank you again to all of this year's SiouxSports.com donors. I can't tell you how much your generosity is appreciated. The Shawn Thompson College Scholarship Fund Kennedy Hockey Booster Club received another $350 in donations this year. Last year's contributions totalled $500. The association was very appreciative of the sponsorship and SiouxSports.com is listed on the sponsors page of the KennedyHockey.Org web site. In addition, SiouxSports.com was also listed very prominently in this year's Mite Jamboree Weekend Game Program. I will have some extra copies available in a few weeks at the Hoggsbreath for anyone wishing to look thru one or keep one as a souvenir. This year's Intermediate Mites team officially lost one game all season, a 2-1 heartbreaker to Burnsville at this past weekend's Mite Jamboree. They followed up that loss, however, with a 4-2 win over New Prague in this past Sunday's season finale. The Kennedy Advanced Mites team defeated arch-rival Jefferson 7-3 in the weekend finale. The mite coaches have done an outstanding job this season and hopefully Kennedy Hockey is on the rise again in the Twin Cities. Thank you again, donors. If this is indeed the last-ever SiouxSports.com team in Bloomington, we sure enjoyed the season.
  5. Like in, say, 2011? Rumor has it...door prizes!
  6. Saturday, March 19th, 2011...sometime before the 7:00 pm title game but AFTER 11:00 am as we have done in years past. Book it, Danno.
  7. Tempting...my son has a mites game in Prior Lake that wil end around 3:00 pm. I'd be flying solo so this might be a sweet move. I won't have access to SiouxSports.com but you can text me at 612-386-8207. I'm not sure I can pull it off but let me know price and we'll go from there. Thanks, MafiaMan
  8. The Kennedy Intermediate SiouxSports.com mites are 3-0 after a 3-0 win over Eden Prairie last Sunday. They are on the road in EP this Sunday to play another one of EP's 6 mites teams.
  9. SiouxSports.com Intermediate Mites are 2-0 after a win against another Prior Lake team last Sunday. Up next is Eden Prairie #6 this Sunday at BIG at 11:30 am. p.s. MafiaMan Jr in the books with 2 assists as right defenseman.
  10. The "Minnesota Rule" also applied approximately 10 or so years ago, the last time the tournament was held at The Bradley Center in Milwaukee. I despise the Gophers as much as anyone, but calling it "The Minnesota Rule" is a bit misleading. If the WCHA Final Five was played every year in Grand Forks and no matter what seed they were, the Sioux played the 7:00 pm Friday semi-final game, would it then be "The Sioux Rule"?
  11. The Intermediate Gold mites are getting set for their first game...coming up December 28th!
  12. Update: I have $150 in-hand and two "checks in the mail." I've already committed to SIOUXSPORTS.COM being on the back of this year's Intermediate Gold Mites but am hoping for a few more financial backers. Thank you for your support in what will obviously be the last team ever sponsored by anthing associated with the word 'Fighting Sioux.'
  13. Update: I've committed to sponsoring what will likely be the last SiouxSports.com mites team sponsorship ever. This year, we will be sponsoring the Mite Intermediate team. Jersey colors have yet to be announced. Next year, we'll be FightingPinkFlamingos.com, but that's another story for another day. I've received two commitments thus far...PM me for address to send your check to. SiouxSports.com is mentioned on the www.kennedyhockey.org home page and will also be on display on a banner at the Bloomington Ice Gardens. Thank you for your support.
  14. I'm looking for 5 or 6 tickets to the weekend series over Thanksgiving for the Notre Dame series. I'd definitely prefer lower level, but beggars can't be choosers. Time to make the once-a-year trip to Grand Forks. GO SIOUX!
  15. Same schpeel as last year. Just PM me if you would like to contribute and I'll send you my address. The Mite Coordinator told me last week that she would "love" to have SiouxSports.com back this year.
  16. Just checkin' to see if anyone has the scoop on this weekend's series...
  17. Mite hockey for 2010-11 is starting up. I've been asked by several board members if SiouxSports.com will again be sponsoring a team this year. Hmnnnnn...anyone interested in SiouxSports.com Part II? Kennedy Hockey Page Check out the "Sponsors" link at the top of the page. SiouxSports.com is listed first.
  18. I have a large Fighting Sioux poster print that I'd like to sell. It's a large print of All-Americans, National Championship Banners, coaches, etc. that was done sometime before 1997 as the last NCAA banner pictured is from 1987. I will try to post a picture later but if you're interested, please drop me a line and I can give you more details.
  19. I wish. My cell phone has been blowing up with "See ya Sioux" and "Go Flickertails" texts since about 10 pm yesterday.
  20. Kennedy's colors are gold, navy blue, and white. The mite jerseys have traditionally been either white, gold, or navy blue. I lobbied for a change in tradition and the first "Kennedy green" team, but that was shot down pretty quickly.
  21. I wasn't able to listen to this yesterday...does anyone have a snap-shot of some highlights of this show?
  22. I'm not sure whether to be ecstatic over this or if in a year I'll be wishing for Frank and Doug to be back in the booth. While I wasn't happy with Woog and his riot-inciting tone during game 3 of the Sioux/Gopher series, I have personally met him several times and chatted hockey with him. He bleeds maroon and gold but was very polite in discussing Sioux hockey with me and always complimentary about the team. I ran into Doug at the Final Five and since I had Scott Sandelin's and Bill Watson's autographs on the back of my son's Sioux jersey, asked if he'd sign it too. He chuckled and said "I don't sign many green jerseys," but gladly wrote his name on the back. Nice conversation piece. By the way, he does read this site, too. I liked the picture previously posted and during the WCHA playoffs a few years ago, I ran into Doug at Joe Sensor's in Bloomington. I asked him if I could take a picture with him wearing my Sioux jersey and his response was "if I didn't think that would end up on SiouxSports.com about five minutes after we take it, I would." I just about peed my pants.
  23. I would like to personally thank the Sioux coaches and players not only for an outstanding season, but for their actions during the Final Five. The coaches and players all took the time to sign my son's Sioux jersey - the one that has been proudly worn by him at almost every mites practice he has at the Bloomington Ice Gardens. Several players personally took the time for a knuckle-bump, to personally talk with him, as well as pose for a picture with him. I appreciate all of your efforts, not only on the ice, but for giving an 8 year old kid the biggest smile ever. Winning the Final Five was the icing on the cake for a wonderful weekend in St Paul that won't soon be forgotten. He had to dry a tear or two after the Yale game, but I told him that we need to remember the positive things on the season and get ready to cheer loud again next fall. Thank you, Sioux coaches and players. We, the fans, are proud of you all.
  24. Dude, you realize that Jack Parker went 20some years between national titles and Red Berenson has won exactly two in I believe 25 years at Michigan. Those guys are legends. I bet they're glad, though, that you're not the AD at their schools. Dave Hakstol will win the national title. Someday. Someday SOON. Bank on it. But let's not be like Gopher fans who were on the "I love you Don Lucia" bandwagon after winning titles in 2002 and 2003 only to scream for his head now and how the only titles he won were with "Woog players." C'mon, Sioux fans. The sun will come out in 2011.
  25. Every time I see #29 on the ice, it makes me think back to his days at Moorhead when I watched the Minnesota state championship. How that Spud team lost to Holy Angels Academy still mystifies me... Thanks to the seniors for great leadership throughout your Sioux career. Best of luck in your next adventure!
