  1. I like it. If there is a 3rd order to be done, this hat and moniker will be included.
  2. Much like UND Campus Police would investigate a similar incident if it happened on the campus at UND...standard procedure.
  3. He had many others...here's another goodie after the 1968 tie with Notre Dame in which the Irish were helped by a couple of iffy calls. McKay was asked about the officiating: "I'm not surprised. The referee is a fine Catholic fellow by the name of Patrick Murphy."
  4. Best line ever by a coach (John McKay) when asked by the media about his team's (that would be Tampa Bay's) execution: "I'm all for it."
  5. C'mon, he played half of his career with a TERRIBLE Tampa Bay team! Great team leader.
  6. That Bucs defense was something else. I'm stunned that that team didn't win another Super Bowl. Back to the Vikings...obviously QB is a need. Obviously Tampa Bay made the right decision with respect to Josh Freeman...it's time for the Vikings do the same thing with him...and Ponder.
  7. So which 1980's QB would you get rid of in an era where the QB wasn't as important as it is today? Bradshaw? Plunkett? Montana? Theismann? McMahon? Simms? Williams? I think QB in the 1980's was just as important as today, but that's just my opinion.
  8. ...So how do you explain QB's like Brad Johnson and Trent Dilfer wearing Super Bowl rings?
  9. I agree on the durability and personal issues but disagree in terms of 'franchise' QB. Like it or not, from about 1979 thru the late 1980's, Tommy was the face of the Vikings. First QB to throw for 450 yards in a game (and he did it TWICE), 6 TD's thrown in a game, and highest-rated QB of 1986. QB's weren't important in the 1980's? How good was Green Bay in those years?
  10. Nice to see Ottawa welcom home Daniel Afredsson last night...nice to see fans appreciate his years of dedication to the Senators. As an added bonus, I knew Goon would want to see the video link to the tribute the Ottawa organization paid to the former captain and face of the Senators franchise... http://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/nhl/wings/2013/12/01/daniel-alfredsson-ottawa-senators-detroit-red-wings/3799759/
  11. Yes they will. Whooda thunk that the Houston Texans and Atlanta Falcons would be in the mix for the NFL's worst record this season?
  12. That Tommy Kramer guy threw for almost 25,000 yards and 159 touchdowns with the Vikings. Granted, he also tossed 157 interceptions, but still...I don't know if I would say 'hasn't been settled since Tarkenton retired.'
  13. You kicked Tony Hrkac out of your seats? Nice. "Hey, jerkweed, would you mind getting your butt out of that seat? It belongs to me. Oh, Mr. Hrkac, can I have your autograph? I'm a big fan!"
  14. So if Hak called out his players and cited their lack of maturity and toughness, this thread would dry up and it would be ok? I doubt it.
  15. The 'tradition' comment was in regards to Notre Dame FOOTBALL, not hockey.
  16. That is complete and total speculation.
  17. Did I say that UMD and UND have the 'same' tradition? I did not. So, on one hand, UND has the Ralph, which is a huge recruiting tool. On the other hand, UMD has a shiny new $80 million arena, which doesn't do the Bulldogs any good. Huh?
  18. Yes, Notre Dame was in the title game last year...thanks to a bogus call in the Pitt game, another one vs Stanford, and the too-good-to-be-true story of their linebacker. That's it.
  19. One bunch of five star recruits wins an NCAA title...the next bunch loses in the 1st round of the NIT. What's your point, that John Calipari apparently lost his coaching mind in one season?
  20. So if I still support Hakstol, despite wanting some tweaks made, I am automatically labeled as 'happy' with the season? Talk about dealing in absolutes...
  21. How has history and tradition worked out for Notre Dame football since about 1988? Yale hockey has a history of pride and tradition. A lack of titles doesn't make those meaningless.
  22. December 2010: $80 million Amsoil Arena opens. March 2011: UMD wins NCAA title. Two years later, Bulldogs slog thru a 14-19-5 season.
  23. I disagree. It's an entire system at UND that values developing pro hockey players over NCAA success. Minnesota had the same problem last year. Hard to focus on winning an NCAA tournament game when 5-6 guys are more worried about when pen to use when signing their pro contract five minutes after their season ends.
  24. To the Sandelin supporters, do you think he would have lasted 11 seasons in Grand Forks with his record? He would have been run out of town no later than year 8.
